  1. Heinicke completed 23 of 30 passes (76%) for 196 yards (6.5 per attempt) with 2 TD, 1 INT for a 101.5 passer rating. If that's a down game, we're setting the standard pretty high.
  2. Point taken - he's a genuine leader. Personally, I'd start him until he's Brady's age just because I enjoy watching him play.
  3. It already has. If memory serves, you viewed him as a quality backup about a month ago. From that to lower mid-range starter is solid improvement.
  4. This is both premature and unfair. Sure, Mr. Blewitt had a block or two, but when nobody got in the way, he never missed. Which raises an interesting question - has any other NFL team ever cut a kicker who made every field goal and extra point that wasn't blocked?
  5. That's certainly a relief. I assumed they were expecting a Hail Mary with, you know, 8 seconds left in the half. But if not, then I guess everything's okay. Thanks, Ron!
  6. Now we are attracting disaffected Patriot fans. Could there be any greater sign that our long nightmare is drawing to a close? Welcome back, and may Superbowls trail in your wake.
  7. I was right there, in the upper deck at about the 10 yard line. I managed to get my seat cushion all the way into the corner of the end zone. Heck, that might be me in the puff-top hat right after the throw.
  8. Well said. Henceforth, Taylor H shall be known as "The Unicorn."
  9. I wonder if you are really in a position to make such a definitive statement.
  10. I wonder if the smallish 7th round DEs might also be under consideration as future LBs.
  11. I read that Heinicke's burst to the pylon was the fastest anyone ran with the football during the WFT / Bucs playoff game. If he's faster than wideouts and running backs, he's real fast.
  12. Concur. After all, the guy did just coach the second best defense in the NFL.
  13. More seriously, the only partial explanation I can think of is that Alex Smith is very good at checking out of passing plays that aren't going to work to running plays that pick up a few yards. That wouldn't show up on his stats, but it would increase the team's chances of winning. Sadly, I'm too lazy to do any follow-up research to confirm or deny this possibility.
  14. If that's the case, it's much more important to have a QB who the other players like and respect than one who plays well. This has the potential to revolutionize drafting.
  15. That isn't really my point. You just can't explain the difference between 10-5 and 6-24 by looking at what Alex Smith is doing on the field. For lack of a better theory, I'm staying with "beams waves of electrostatic despair into the brains of opposing players and coaches" for now.
