What, no Slayer on anyone's list?

("Slayer" is particularly amusing in an Aussie accent: SLAAEEYAH!!)

Oh no!!!!!!!

My favorite of all time is Master of Puppets. That one set the standard, no question. Reign in Blood is a close second. My 10 best in no particular order is:

1. Metallica: Master of Puppets

2. Metallica: Ride the Lightning

3. Judas Priest: Painkiller

4. Anthrax: Among the Living

5. Anthrax: We've come for you all

6. Slayer: Reign in Blood

7. Testament: The New Order

8. Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power

9. Iron Maiden: Powerslave

10. Shadows Fall: The Art of Balance (gotta give some props to the new guys, this band kicks serious arse!)

Montilar, I'm not sure that some of those qualify as Metal. (This reminds me of that argument I used to have on the school bus back in Middle School, lol) Dio, Priest, and Metallica I agree, but Nazareth?? LOVE HUUUUUURRRRRRTSSS! LOVE HURRRRRRRTTTTTSSSS!!! :shot:

Just messing with ya bro! :silly:

Dio and Prong??? You must be a Dallas native.

What about:

Suicidal Tendencies:

Lights, Camera, Revolution.

Danzig:

Lucifuge

Where do you get DIO from, and you ever listen to Prong?

haha, metal legends, just like korn and slipknot.

Montilar, a lot of bands you have listed seem more hair band hard rock, like the Scorpions, Kiss, Def Lepperd, Guns N Roses. I know its a debate on whether 80's rock bands were metal. I like all those bands, but I wouldnt call them metal, i consider them just 80's rock or hair bands.

i don't listen to much metal, but some of the best albums i have ever heard are "Master of Puppets" and "Ride the Lightning" but the first i ever heard was "Kill 'Em All" which i still love.

and why no Sepultura? South American metal doesn't count?

follow this link to hear them: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/artists/Sepultura/music.asp

and while i don't really consider them metal (moreso than deep purple or nazareth), how about some love for FAITH NO MORE!!!!

Interesting, when I saw the thread title I instantly thought Master Of Puppets and then And Justice For All a close second(the Black album not for behind).

Reading the replies I find it interesting that there have been a few mentions for Puppets and the Black album but none for Justice.

I was just wondering what you guys think of that album?

I’m going to cheat a little bit here. I decided I need to narrow things down to albums that came out before 1990 and those that were released after 1990. There was a definite change around 1990 or so in metal IMO.

Pre 1990:

Metallica – Ride the Lightning

Exodus – Bonded by Blood

Racer X – Extreme Volume

Iron Maiden – Piece of Mind

Tony McAlpine – Edge of Insanity/Maximum Security

Anthrax – Among the Living

Judas Priest – Screaming for Vengeance

Queensryche – Operation Mindcrime

Slayer – Reign Blood

Mercyful Fate – Melissa

Post 1990:

Death – Symbolic/Individual Thought Patterns

In Flames – Whoracle/Colony

Soilwork – Figure Number Five

Pantera – Vulgar Display of Power

Megadeth – Rust in Peace

At the Gates – Slaughter of the Soul

Entombed – Wolverine Blues

Bruce Dickinson – The Chemical Wedding

Dream Theater – Images and Words

Opeth – Blackwater Park

In no specific order.

Metallica - Ride the Lightning, better with original name Metal up your A$$!, Kill’em All, Master Of Puppets And Justice For All last album before they sold out!

SOD -Speak English Or Die There live version of Reign in Blood is awesome.

Slayer – Reign in Blood.

Megadeth – Peace Sells … But Who’s Buying?

Black Sabbath – Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage, Master of Reality
