vegeta613
O'Neal will not be the only former Bronco in Cincinnati this season. The Bengals have reached agreement with defensive tackle Daryl Gardener on a four-year, incentive-laden, $9.3 million contract that will be announced this week. http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~86~2076260,00.html There goes that Possibility
ekskins
I always liked Marvin Lewis. He would of been a great head coach for us.but a year of hell is worth the wait for the best coach plus staff in football!! In time I think the Bengals will be top dog in their division. :ravensuck :ravensuck :ravensuck
GSF
 There goes Gardener. That sucks.
bnacpa
It should be interesting to see if Gardner can be a team player and a locker room leader at a consistently high level with a long term contract. Unfortunately, his track record with Miami and Denver do not bode well. His experience with us was great, but it was only a one year deal, so he may have been playing for a bigger paycheck so that he could return to form. Skins11
Man that sucks. So for all the Taylor heads, when June 1st comes around, who are we going get to bolster our sorry pass rush? This was the only guy I saw as a valid option. Now we must look to the draft for d-line help. And although we may be passing up superstars, we have to fill these needs now. It's just a necessity. bnacpa
From everything I understand, we will be playing a lot of 46 D sets and rushing different LB's and DB's all the time to keep the offense guessing. The redskins believe that the DT position is filled with Nobel and Griffin. We do need a pass rushing DE. Lets hope that the staff doesn't get desperate and bring Bruce Smith back for one last year (ugh!).

It's different than the Ramsey situation, since Gibbs has said at least a few times that he is staying.

mark327
i don,t see the big problem with trading down here. trade our #5 for a late to mid 1st round pick with either a 2nd and 3rd round pick to pick up the defencive players that this redskins team needs . yes everyone or alot of people want KW2 or ST but no one player is going to carry this team . trade down and take the best available players with the picks we get. :ravensuck :dallasuck :eaglesuck :gaintsuck
Trevor
I don't see this having any effect on whether we trade down or not. I don't think Gardener was ever a potential target of the team.

Chrisbob74
Didn't want him back anyway, he was good here when he played but he has too many question marks, his back, his attitude. Thank goodness it was the Broncos who made the mistake of chucking a bucket load of money at him and paying the price soon after.

NavyDave
Are there any Hollywood video or capt porno stores in Cincy? He was a fantasy pick I had us signing in June if he became a borna again redskins character guy but it was doubtful from the start. Why would we resign a guy we gave every chance to stay last year? TLusby
This sucks as I thought we were acting disinterested to sign him for a bargain. ML will bring him back to form and he will be a dominant force to reckon with. He will get the incentives that they contracted to.
REDALERT
What Trevor said..... Evidently, the guy wasn't on our radar or we would've made a move for him sometime ago. So this tells me the Organization is going in a totally diffrent direction. Who knows, maybe we pull a rabbit outta the hat or something before draft day or during draft time. Maybe we draft a DT like Harris. All we have is speculation about KW2 and Taylor. We may want one of these guys and articles we've read say were targeting these 2 exact players. But it's not concrete, especially considering the way danny operates. They have a plan somewhere to bolster the DL, go 3-4, keep what we have or use the diffrent defense of formations Gregg usually uses. Either way, we most come out and compete and stop complaining. We're not the only team in the league that doesn't have a dominant DT, but they somehow manage. Why can't we.. You can't always have your cake and eat it to. Sometimes or somewhere, someone's gotta step up in situations like these. Also, the coaches must use their expertise, discounting our last DC. That guy just didn't have the experience to adjust or put people in positions to excel better. But what we have now is a bunch of versatile creative coaches. And if any one can manuever and motivate the players without a dominant DT, it's these guys I trust. Hell, we could always have Spurrier back and a dominant DT:laugh: . But I still would'nt feel comfortable with that. I would rather take my chances with the coaches we have, the players and drafting the best possible player at #5. Either KW2 or Sean Taylor.. Maybe we draft a capable DT in the later rounds with our other 2 picks. Or maybe we trade our other 2 picks for a better pick somewhere. I don't know about you guys, but I'm comfortable and content regardless:cool: . You don't always need a bunch of superstars to win, look at the Patriots. Yes, they may have better DT's, but where also lacking in other areas. Repeat after me:coach: "Don't worwie, we will be okay" were hunting Bunny Wabbits... atloldskin
The Bengals way overpaid IMO. Yet there are no cries from the press of too much money!
carlsbadd
It's funny that he turned down our offer to resign because the contract had to many incentives and not enough guaranteed money. He sucker Denver and now he signs an incentive laden contract with the Bengels. I don't care how well he played when he was here. That dude is done. I doubt he takes the field for more than 7 games. Skins11
First you say: Originally posted by REDALERT Either way, we most come out and compete and stop complaining. Then: Originally posted by REDALERT You don't always need a bunch of superstars to win, look at the Patriots. Yes, they may have better DT's, but where also lacking in other areas. What about examples of the other teams that "somehow manage" without a dominant DT? And by manage, I mean win convincingly, because that's the goal. Maybe that is the point - they manage despite having weaknesses in other areas because of their strong DTs/DEs.
