She literally put out a proposal stating how she will pay for it.

That's not going to fix the problem, jus a symptom.  Does it involve lowering tuition prices or lending practices so we dont have to do it again down the road?  And no I dont support free tuition, it's not anymore free them free healthcare.

Were talking about $680 billion, that's close to the entire military budget, and still wouldnt cover everything (says max $50k, which in my case is only half my student loan debt).

I'd rather better programs for paying it back and using that unreal amount of money elsewhere, it doesnt address why they fell behind to begin with.  Saying certain 2-4 year colleges will be free going forward sounds good, but they dont agree on how to pay for it, because someone will have to pay for it.

Just realize you shifted your argument from, “it will never happen and it’s pandering” to “yeah, but what about this problem?!”

I did not, I'm sticking to it's never going to happen and presented why.

“That’s not going to fix the problem, it’s just a symptom,” is you moving the goal posts.

I agree it is a symptom to a bigger problem with college tuition costs which goes back to states, particularly red states, cutting money that went to colleges over the last 40 years. However you can’t change the argument mid-argument. You went from she is pandering and it will never happen to “college tuition costs skyrocketing is the bigger problem.”

You asked me why I said it wouldnt happen and I'm telling you because it's too expensive for people to support and doesnt really fix the problem.  That's not moving the goal post, that's continuing the conversation, I'm not sure what you were expecting me to do after you responded to me.

Its pandering because the idea is targeted to people who need it most right now, but how often does that price tag come up or $50k limit?  Me expanding on why I feel a certain way doesnt mean I'm running from anything, this is too expensive for me and a lot of centrist to get behind.

I never asked that question.

And for the record, I think we should institute a bigger tax on the wealthy and also close tax loopholes to end tax evaders. I’m also a lot more to the left than most of this board.

Thats what I gathered from this back and forth.

I've seen that and agree with you on more then you think.  But if we raise that kinda bulk of money we have to very smart and efficient on how we use it. In my head I'm hoping with all this talk of raising taxes some of it eventually goes to balancing the budget and lowering the national debt before those interest payments get out of control.  I'm hearing more about programs them balancing the budget and that kinda concerns me, maybe its inferred it will be done, but THAT needs to be a priority, imo.

I haven’t said much, tbf.

I actually agreed with your secondary point about tuition costs being a problem and pointed to why. That’s the most I said during this.

I just don’t think Warren is pandering.

Not really.

A revulsion to Trump's criminal and dangerous lunacy has created an odd mix of different political leanings unified in their opposition to both he and what is now the GOP. I'm what used to be called a liberal Republican or a conservative Democrat.

Yes states cutting support certainly contributed to tuition increases. But are you seriously stating that was the primary driver for tuition increases?

this is pandering

That is Biden's base within the party. He is almost certainly going to be the nominee and it is the minority voters (who mostly aren't part of the bat chit crazy progressive wing of the Dems) that gives him the advantage.

Yes for the most part.  I don't like him myself (neo-con never Trumper) but haven't lost my mind over him like most here have and it wouldn't surprise me if he is reelected (which would completely dumbfound most on this board who have a tendency delude themselves into thinking he can't possibly win).

There are a couple of Trump voters that post regularly - one voted reluctantly and one voted enthusiastically for him.

It’s a very diverse, very intelligent group here.  The best place I’ve found on the web to get different viewpoints on a lot of issues.

I’m a pretty moderate guy.  I was on the record for Kasich last time around.

Trump, and really all the Fox News punditry, are obviously swine.
