Breaking: Three-Star Maleak Bryant Commits to Maryland

Maryland added a commitment from 6-foot-6, 225-pound tight end Maleak Bryant this evening. The Georgia tight end has been high on the Terps for months and his April 4 visit helped seal the deal.

"I think I fit in the offense perfect because it’s kind of the same as high school. The offensive scheme is good. I like the campus and the school fits what I’m looking for. I fit because it’s a great offense. I can play wide out too. I can play inside, outside, plus I can block and they need someone that can stretch the field.

That’s what I can do," he told IMS recently.

Since the visit, Bryant has received offers from Pittsburgh and Tennessee, among others. Bryant had also visited Iowa State, another top contender. In the end, his relationship with offensive coordinator Walt Bell and quality control coach Brawley Evans put the Terps over the top.

“Just everything about Maryland, I just love the campus. The coaches were showing me a lot of love. I feel like I just really like Maryland. Coach Brawley [Evans] was making me feel like family," he said.

Bryant is a three-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite ranking. He's the 81st-best prospect in Georgia and the 33rd-best tight end in the nation according to the 247Sports rankings. He's rated an 85 by the network.

Breaking: Chance Campbell Commits to Maryland

Maryland has added Calvert Hall (Md.) linebacker Chance Campbell to its 2018 class. The 6-foot-2, 222-pound Baltimore linebacker chose the Terps over offers from Duke, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Rutgers among others. Notre Dame and Northwestern had also shown interest.

Campbell just wrapped up lacrosse season and has been a priority inside linebacker target for DJ Durkin in the 2018 class. He's the fourth in-state prospect to pledge to the Terrapins.
