ESPN Does A Pro Job On Tony Romo

Just seems like when Romo sits to pee does have good stats, the wins and late clutch plays are what makes a good QB, and when he wins and makes late clutch plays it's that stats that determine how he played.

Either way, Romo sits to pee can't win around here. But it is enemy turf, completely understandable.

Ok, show of hands, who is really surprised here? Anyone?

If the Skins had won you'd see the same thing, if the Skins has dominated them and crushed Romo sits to pee you would have heard what meanie poopyheads the team was for pickin' on poor battered lil Tony, who was so brave to even show up.

And I have to say, "Broadway Gomer" alone made it worth reading this thread

Never surprised with DSPN. And yeah, "Broadway Gomer" sealed it for me.

I can understand that 'Skins fans must have been throwing up all night, but it is what it is. Beating the Rams this weekend will provide a nice tonic for the lovefest.

Actually, Detroit blowing up your line and kicking your ass will go a longer way than any Redskin victory. ESPN doesn't care if we go 15-1 at this point. We don't have a star on our helmet, we don't have an owner who goes to the sidelines and give postgame quotes and we don't have Broadway Gomer.

I think for the most part most of our fans can give credit where credit is due. Some are just ultra-homers that you'll never sway one way or the other. I think the problem lies with the media's lovefest for him. Whe Romo sits to pee does well, he's put on a pedalstool. When Romo sits to pee is bad, there are always excuses by the media as to why. He's perfect in their eyes, when fans of other teams and even the Cowboy fans can admit his flaws.

When Gruden came up for air from Romo sits to pee's jock he Immediately dove on Witten's. It was like a homoerotic orgy in the booth.

My ears were bleeding.

<added by staff---Rule #13. Please refrain from posting explicit material in posts.

This includes sexually explicit or implicit (hardcore/softcore pornography, animated pictures, written language, etc.) content.

<from sticky thread in stadium--"Our previous warning about folks receiving bans or posting restrictions for all the idiotic rule-violating "knob-slobbing" and "jock/nutsack riding" etc. posts worked well, and like a miracle the incidents dropped dramatically.">

More on this from Deadspin: ( http://deadspin.com/5844919/why-its-ok-to-hate-ron-jaworski-and-jon-gruden )

Now, Gruden is Tirico's boothmate and it makes perfect sense for him to vehemently defend his colleague to a lazy, snarkifying basement-dweller such as myself. Gruden DOES know more about football than you and I do. I heard him call the game Monday Night and indeed, Gruden and Jaws knew all kinds of crazy <edited by staff to comply with rule 6>. They offered far more football insight than you or I could probably ever come up with while watching a game.

And I still hated listening to them anyway.

I really did. I tried to give them an honest shot, but no. They're horrid. And if my football ignorance is to blame for it, so be it. All I know is that by the end of the game, Jaws and Gruden were talking about Tony Romo sits to pee as if he <edited by staff to comply with rule 6> unicorns and rides around in the sky on a giant floating rose petal, and I wanted to kill myself.

<added by staff---Rule #6. Do not attempt to circumvent the profanity filters.

Type in your word and let the filters do their job of substituting an asterisks for letters. Then check your post to see if all profanity was filtered. Veiled or "subtle" attempts at using profanity are unacceptable. We allow the use of either all asterisks/symbols or none at all. For example "****" and "*&*%$" are acceptable, while “s**t” or “sh*t" are not.

Members quoting profanity filter violations without editing the violation out of the quote are simply creating another violation of this Rule and may be penalized accordingly.

Definitely agree the media takes it too far when Romo sits to pee plays well, but think about it financially. The Cowboys have a massive fan base. And also a massive base of people who hate them. When you add it all together, more people will stay tuned in for content on the Cowboys then for any other NFL team. ESPN makes money off of ratings, or basically how many people watch the show. Higher ratings equals more expensive commercial time slots. Why wouldn't ESPN talk about the face of the franchise?

And again with that said.. the MNF pre-game was ridiculous. You honestly wouldn't know the Redskins were playing from the sound of the anaylsts, it was all Romo sits to pee. I would of liked to hear about other aspects of the game.

Also, I wouldn't say Romo sits to pee always gets excuses from the media, when he messes up he gets ripped as much or more then anyone in the league. He was nearly crucified after that Jets game.

Your post reminds me why I consider you one of the Cowboys fans over here on ES who I have absolutely no problem with, even when you're talking major smack lol ...it's because you also have no problem pointing out the obvious flaws and biases concerning your team, and you never seem arrogant when you ARE boasting.

I have no problems with doncherry.

This was exactly Brain Orakpo's point. A lot people misunderstood his comments as attacking Romo sits to pee but he wasn't. If you read the comments carefully, he was criticizing ESPN. Nobody is taking anything away from the win and that's not the issue. The issue is whether ESPN gives a damn that they are perceived to have such a huge bias towards the Cowpukes. I was hoping for more of a national outcry over this.

Agree with you about the popularity thing, but you think they'd concentrate their efforts more on teams that have been winning (meaning playoffs and SBs) and not making it a popularity contest. Hell, the Packers won the SB and I don't think I've seen one headline by ESPN.

And yeah, the media rips Romo sits to pee for having a game like he did against the Jets, but the mere fact that there were 13 other games played that day (2 were on Monday), Romo sits to pee and the Cowboys were the headliner, "despite" losing. In other words, they turned a negative into a positive for their (ESPN's) ratings machine. We've seen Romo sits to pee blow games. It's not unusual and this instance shouldn't have been either. Hell, I think us beating the Giants the way we did in how many years since we've beat them, would have been a better headliner.

Rex and Vick aren't made for TV QBs given their recent so-called tantrums. Vick apparently had one today although it really wasn't. Notice after the game the media won't even let Rex take his pads off before that so-called tantrum. They let Romo sits to pee freshen up and appear in clean clothes before talking to him apparently after Rex. Yet another doulbe standard. ESPN = WWE.

Just to revisit this, so a QB who was in a walking boot all week, plays for a high profile team, wasn't necessarily expected to play went 24/34 for 228 yards, with 5TDs and 1INT this week and barely a peep from the National Media. I was waiting for the ESPN or NFL Network as the top story to talk about how Ben Roethlisberger willed his team to victory and showed his guts and gutted out a big performance agains a 3-1 team. But I have heard little. Anyone else? Oh and he refused the shots, played through the pain and the team scored 6 times (just like Romo sits to pee a few weeks ago). Main difference 5TD + 1FG vs 6FGs. Not a huge Ben fan (although he went to my alma mater), but just to point out the double standard yet again.

Nonsense. I just now went to NFL.com and why they have TONS of headlines hailing Roethlisberger's heroic game while injured...there's....

...no, wait, that's about Tebow...

...that one's about Al Davis...

...another one about Tebow...

Ok, what I meant was, I just went to ESPN.com, and there are TONS of headlines about Big Ben's courageous game while dealing with his injury...

...scratch that, it must have been The Sporting News where I saw it...yeah, that's it...

Rapistberger always seems to go under the radar. Hell, in 2008, nobody was talking about Pittsburgh in general.

Definitely can't argue with this, Big Ben should be praised all over every major headline for what he did yesterday, he was incredible. The media, along with many people around the country although, dislike Big Ben. Those rape allegations have really hurt his image. Many people will see a segment on Big Ben and turn the channel out of disgust.

ESPN isn't a non-profit company or a charity, it's a business. A business owned by Disney, who has shareholders with profits on the mind. Public perception = ratings. Ratings = How ESPN programs.

So how does that relate to them doing almost an entire ESPN the Magazine about Michael Vick? Rape ALLEGATIONS or spending 2 years in jail for killing dogs??

Definitely not trying to imply that I agree with it, just calling it how I see it. For some reason it seems more people have forgiven Vick then Big Ben. Vick still has a ton of fans out there, he's selling a ton of merchandise and people tune in to see him play and hear about him. IMO ESPN will do an entire magazine about ANYTHING that will sell. If they thought they'd sell out a Big Ben magazine right now they'd print it.

There are a bunch of people who get too much talk for what they do on the field . Tebow, Romo sits to pee & Vick - (really should not be in the NFL even if he was out of prison - what he did and what he got charged with were two entriley different things - the abuse of animials on his property created enough of a moral outcry so people didn't notice there were other despicable things going on as well includng money laundering and illegal betting etc etc- but hey look at him now playing for the high flying eagles - man of the year - a Nike role model well worth the $100 million and personal endorsements ... makes me feal sick everytime i see his smiling face on ESPN)

But this is a media driven market . They are decisiding what is spoken about when it is spoken about talk radio, talking heads on the television - they are not telling the news they are deciding it .

I am not saying this as an emitteterd Skins fan - I would much rather hear about the lions, or the Packers - who must be the least herralded 5-0 teams in history ..
