The problem is Gortat and Mahimi are really dinosaurs and obsolete in today's NBA where traditional Cs don't really exist anymore.

Its a bigger issue when you think of the amount money they make and they can never be on the floor at the same time

Great win, but clear evidence that we are a high quality big away from finals contention. And a star big away from title contention.

Deandre jordan would be perfect for this team

Thank God for the wizards.  Gave me a win tonight when I badly needed one.

The highlight of tonight was that we contained Millsap without Markieff.

Wizards are still undefeated, on 79 more games to go.

Otto played Milsap really well tonight, i was impressed

Oubre been a revelation this season. Wow.

Wizards need a 3rd scorer, not a Deandre Jordan.

I think Otto will be a good 3rd scorer

DJ is low usage on offense, good at rolling on screens. Better rebounder and much better rim protector than anything we currently have

I mean 3rd big time scorer. Otto will never be that.

DJ is a great defensive presence but I am still dreaming of Cousins.

I think i've sold myself on DJ being better for us than Boogie

You could be right.  We seem to have enough firepower and it's always the defense holding us back.

I also don't truly trust Cousins.  I'd take him in a second, but he doesn't know how to play winning basketball.  I don't trust him not to shutdown on court the moment he gets frustrated.  And I don't trust him not to big time Beal and Porter and take their touches because he's the bigger star despite the fact that they are way more efficient scorers than him.

Whereas Jordan (or someone like him) fits seemlessly.  You continue running your offense through Wall and Beal and add a second elite shot maker (Porter being the other) who specializes at finishing around the basket.  And you massively improve the interior defense.

I wish we had gotten Whiteside.  He'd have been perfect.

DJ would be, but the clippers haven't lost a step. They might be even better without CP3's injuries. ( of course they are a Blake Griffin injury away from dismantling). Would you all buy low on Drummond? Imo, they are almost the same guys but with far different supporting casts.

In a word: yes.  I would absolutely go after Drummond.  But there are some concerns.  IMO there are maturity and offensive issues with him.  I didn't like what I saw from him in game 2 at all--he got frustrated and essentially fouled out on purpose and his team got way better the moment he left the game.

He is a hopelessly unnatural offensive player too.  Just has zero touch on his shot and zero feel for how to score the ball inside when he can't jump over the guy and dunk it.  He is the lowest skilled big man in the NBA and I worry about what his game looks like when he's no longer the most athletic big in the league. Dwight Howard was a way smarter and more skilled version of Drummond and he fell off a cliff and became an albatross when he lost his athletic dominance.  Drummond is faster than Dwight was though.  That kid is a deer and has the lateral speed of a guard.

If he could come here and accept a role as a fifth option and defensive specialist, he could be great.  If not, don't want him.

Howard did not fall off a cliff. He still dominates when he's involved, focused, and part of the game plan. His problem is that he's the biggest phony in the league and no one likes him. I still would have taken him prior to Atlanta when his rep wasn't cemented. ( now not so much).

Whiteside  didn't happen because of Marcin's feelings. And it was a terrible move not to try to even get an interview.

Drummond can get rebounds on both ends of the floor, can catch lobs, and can set a screen. That's literally all we need from the 5 to be better. All marcin can do at this stage is set screens ( albeit he's still quite good at it). It's a marvel that wall can run the pnr with gortat so well when you literally just have to cut off the bounce pass off the roll.

Drummond took his ball and went home when Embiid was dominating his ass

i can accept a player having a bad night against a great talent, but that man was out there in physical form only.  I want no parts of Drummond

Especially when we will eventually be seeing them in the playoffs.

I'd still like Cousins. I think he'll mature playing with Wall. He's a talent but just isn't built to lead but not everyone is. He'd thrive here where he could just come and play and let Wall handle the leadership duties.

Yea he will be better when hes not the leader of a team and just a player on it.
