7-round mock draft

SkinsGuru

Recommended Posts

Mocking is a hobby of mine, and I spent hours upon hours on this year's version (yes, I'm single). I included AdamJT13's famous compensatory pick projections as well. You can find those here. The mock draft takes into account a balance of 'best player available,' team needs, rolling draft grades from various pundits, my own opinion, as well as what we know about the tendencies of those making the war room decisions for each respective franchise.

Wow!!!! Lots of work. Cool post. Pne thing that pops out is the lack of 3rd and 6th round picks. With this being a deep draft and looking where we would have had those picks, there is a lot of good talent that the Skins are going to miss out on. hopefully they can trade to get some picks in those rounds.

Good work Guru.

I believe if we draft oline first, they're going to trade the 2nd for more picks. That is unless there are picks gained from pre-draft player trades. I believe either McCoy or Robinson is the lower round QB the Skins nab in this case. Also think that Robinson will go higher than the 6th round.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/peter_king/01/05/mail/index.html

Look for the Shanahans to look hard at first-round passers (remember the stunner when they drafted Jay Cutler in 2006?) and particularly at an accurate intermediate thrower coming off elbow surgery, Sam Bradford. Kyle's like his dad, so he'll be looking at the entire field and not caring what the draftniks say. That's why it wouldn't surprise me to see the Redskins pick a quarterback down the line (Zac Robinson, Colt McCoy) and address a terrible offensive line in the first round.

Nicely done. I agree with Okung at #4. G Stafford and CB Spievey would be excellent picks in rounds 2 and 4. However, I have to think as things stand right now, taking QB Skelton in the 5th is a reach, to say the least. I think if we're going to draft a QB it'd be in the 2nd or 4th. RB Karim would be a steal in the 7th, but I think he'll be off the board by then. Good stuff!

I agree with the consensus...great work. I think that they may go after a higher profile quarterback, though. How has Snead looked during the off season? His stock plummeted with his dismal performance during the year, but I'm interested whether he's helped himself in workouts in the offseason.

Don't know about Los being back, ST. Let's face it, Shanny is saying all the right things now, which is true. But somebody offers a draft pick for him, I think Shanny packs Roger's belongings himself. We need a LT and a RT, so if we address with our 1st 2 draft picks, I'm loving life!

why not give tebow a shot with are second round pick?

Not to say I'm the original Tebow Pioneer, but I know I was one of the first ballsy enough to bring it up (in a serious note) on ES a few months back. I'm glad we have some more people catching on! Stay close now... There is greater strength in numbers, and trolls are everywhere!

Tebow's accolades in college not withstanding, but how can anyone think he translates into a NFL QB is beyond me. He's not going to run all over NFL defenses like he did in college, and he's going to have to throw the football to have success. His throwing motion and mechanics are already flawed as it is (hence the need to try to change it prior to the draft). I believe he's going to fall down the draft boards like a lead balloon. :silly:

Great post. I can see this happening, and I'd be happy. I think the Okung/Saffold tandem seems great, though I noticed that Saffold is a lefty and feels more comfortable on the left side -- so maybe we'll have two natural left tackles and not a natural right. In any case, I think it would work.

If I could tinker, my hope would be that we could trade Campbell and/or Rogers for a 2nd and/or 3rd round pick, and with that get C. McCoy and/or Jahvid Best. In that case, we migt use our 5th and 7th rounders for the LBer that we seem to covet and perhaps a DT or guard.

Well by the way he played (assuming the motion gets fixed), I'd say his floor is David Garrard and his ceiling is Ben Roethlisberger. I've said McNabb in the past, but no need to get ahead of myself lol...

I don't care what anyone says, but the guy can be the face of a franchise. As far as we are from Gainesville, we'll sell out FedEx every Sunday. His leadership is unmatched. He is your prototypical quarterback.

There's no denying that if his motion were to be completely fixed (it's a big IF, but bear with me) that he will be the biggest value of this draft if he's not taken round 1.

EDIT: Not to mention his work ethic. Something this team has lacked in years past.

You know what they say about assuming....:silly:. Seriously, I see your point. Clearly, he has great leadership qualities. Hell, if we're going on that alone, I'd say draft him quick.:) He could be the face of our franchise, agreed there. But I'm also sure the Chargers thought the same about Ryan "Get out my @#!?@# face!" Leaf, too.

Tebow is more like a crap shoot at this point. Having to change his throwing motion and mechanics worries me. And yeah, I know that's coachable. But at the end of the day, there are other QB's in the draft that wouldn't be as much of a project that Tebow is right now.

Well this is where we agree to disagree, but there's one thing I'm going to have to correct.

Ryan Leaf was NOT a leader. There were more maturity issues with him than there were with Clausen.

In his draft interview he said that the first thing he would do would be to go to Vegas and blow the guaranteed money.

Tebow would probably say something along the lines of helping the children of his community and the church.

Here's proof of Leaf:

Good point, Gutta. it'll be fun to see what does happen. We'll have to revisit this later after the draft. LOL! Then we can debate Tebow. :saber:

And as far as Leaf, he was a true piece of :censored:! :evilg:

LOL yeah he was pretty bad.

If we do draft Tim, I'm sure the board will be flooded seconds after the selection. You'll find me there, wielding a golden sword and shield to defend from the haters.

Actually, if we took him, we should all be ecstatic; it means Shanahan sees potential. This isn't Vinny Cerrato anymore. I think these drafts are going to make sense from a football perspective.
