G.A.C.O.L.B.
I don't know enough about Haslett (his style, schemes, former success, etc) to really know whether I like this move or not.
CapsSkins
I don't know much about Haslett (I'm a hockey expert who's always been a die-hard Skins fan, but have only recently started trying to learn the game of football). What is he all about?
SKINSFAN87
I'm happy to hear that. Glad the giants didn't have a chance to get him.

Gibbs Hog Heaven
If it's come from Keim, one of the last reputable journo's out there, I'll presume we now have another piece of the puzzle in place. Hail.
NewRegime
Haslett was aggressive. He has been a HC twice (Saints and Rams). He has been high regarded as a very good defensive coordinator. It will be more like Gregg Williams and less like Blache - thats a good thing!

Keim is pretty good. He seems like a very nice guy without an axe to grind. He works hard and never reports without a solid source. He is one of the few good local reporters. skinsaddict
my only opinion on the hire is that Haslett has run a few NFL teams and he is going to bring discipline to the Defensive side of the ball. i dont see him getting any head coaching opportuntites for a while, so I think we might have a solid coaching staff for a few years. if true, me likey. DGREENHULK
I don't know enough about Haslett (his style, schemes, former success, etc) to really know whether I like this move or not. I remember him the most from his days with the Saints.. he is a fiery coach.... I don't remember his scheme but he gets after his players in a good way...And who can forget a couple of years ago when he took over the Rams and came into FED EX and beat us....to give them their 1st win of the season after Scott Linehan had been fired....he is a motivator...Still unconfirmed though. Aggressive coordinator with a strong defensive background. Never really cut it when he had full control as a HC, and all the extra responsibilities that brings, but I'm happy to see him here controlling what he specialises in. Hail. jsteelz
It was all about trying to drive up prices . Jim Haslett knew that we knew he is good friends with Tom in NY so he used that to his advantage and it seemed to have worked
scskin
When searching on Haslett I found this..... let's hope it's true If Haslett were hired he would bring vast experience in both the 3-4 and 4-3 schemes, and he is a big proponent of blitzing, which McCarthy might need next season if his defensive line provides no pass rush again. And in the same Green Bay artcle I found this Haslett has used a number of different defensive schemes. He was part of Pittsburgh’s staff in the 1990s that used a 3-4, but he has used a lot of 4-3 since then, incorporating a lot of the blitz emphasis that the Steelers used. :fingersx:
VetMinimum+Incentives
Hmm now the defensive puzzle begins to fill out a bit. Tim Krumrie will likely be the D-line coach. Either Jerry Gray or Slovik will coach the secondary. That leaves LB coach for Kirk Olivadotti or if we're really going to a 3-4 Haslett might look for someone with more experience in that system. hieverybody
Meh. Hopefully he'll do better here than in his last few stops. It will be interesting to see if he goes 4-3 or 3-4 because it looks like he has experience in both.
#1HIT
Haslett? Gosh our Defense is going to suck big time!! get ready for a long year on defense folks i'll be the first to call it. EDIT: and what happened with Shanahan taking his time, being patient and looking at all the possibilities? has he even interviewed Haslett yet before hiring him? this sounds more like a desperate move since no one really wants to come here. HailSkins81
I wish he'd bring Brooks Bollinger up from the Tuskers. He could be another Kurt Warner type guy. He played very well in the UFL, and was very accurate.

Way to not read. Haslett was here yesterday. With D Coordinators in high demand Shanny had to realize it was either time to S or get off the pot. Rich_Campbell another good reporter on the skins beat just confirmed it with Haslett'ss agent. Welcome about Jimmy lets hope DC is the right fit.
