Soup's Uncle
Please help, have you heard of another big announcement this afternoon or this:NFL.com is reporting the possibility of an announcement that Mike Shanahan is the new coach. Why would they announce a new coach when we have one currently?

Jeffro
Wow.On the same morning that executive V.P. of football operations Vinny Cerrato has resigned, triggering speculation that Mike Holmgren or Mike Shanahan could be taking the reins of the Redskins, Jay Glazer of FOX has dropped a bomb on us, baby. Glazer reports that Redskins coaches were advised today that the teams is in talks with former Raiders and Buccaneers executive Bruce Allen. Allen's father, George, was one of the most beloved coaches in franchise history not named "Joe Gibbs." As Glazer points out, the Redskins would be required to satisfy the Rooney Rule when filling the top front-office position. In this case, either the Redskins already have quietly satisfied the requirement, or Allen would be hired for a position that does not presently require compliance with the Rooney Rule. The arrival of Allen undoubtedly would trigger speculation that the next move would be to dump coach Jim Zorn and pursue Jon Gruden, who partnered with Allen both in Oakland and Tampa. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/12/17/report-redskins-chasing-bruce-allen/

SkinsFTW
Oh god, I hope its not Shanahan. He already failed for a decade in Denver, if he's here we still need a legit GM.
Dirty#30
announcing another Coach for next year while the current one is still n staff is kind of...Vinny like..... Dan has shown just today that he's learned something. He wouldn't do that to Zorn, I mean you did give the first time Offensive Coordinator the title of Head Coach. Can't blame Zorn...he did the best he could with what was given.
I_Bleed_B&G
Could you imagine, that Zorn gets canned today, they bring in a new GM and a new HC all in one day on top of the announcement of Vinny resigning. All that good news would create a black hole vortex.

Goskinz0721
ESPN980 - Allen has been out of football for a while. Shanny was a 'terrible' GM & player evaluator.
Huly
Why would they announce a new coach when we have one currently? That was my thought too but we all know that Zorn is gone next year so maybe the "new coach" is coming early to watch the last few games etc? :whoknows:
NoVaSkins21
IMO, this news deserves it's own tailgate. This news proves that Snyder does truly care about what we fans think.
Rdskn4Lyf21
I think I'm hoping for Holmgren and keeping everything else the same with a smaller role for Zorn. My mind is still spinning though....

darrelgreenie
Does anyone believe that Vinny was the source of team's problems and not Snyder? This move is very strange. I think Vinny and/or Snyder have something up there sleeve.
Jeffro
To me, this move kind of makes sense.. you want a new guy in place prior to the end of the season before you clean house, that way players aren't in complete limbo. I'm so excited! Now I got to go back and see who's signatures I get to change.
