sgf21
Right. But why now? Hasn't he been available for months? Because Vinny Cerrato is a headless chicken running around right now. He knows his job is on the line, and he's trying to do everything possible to save himself. Unfortunately I think our team had a better chance of bouncing back before this whole debacle: hiring a bingo caller and cutting the balls off of our Head Coach. Chanhillbilly
What does it tell you when GB whom have one of the worst OL's in the game, and have let opposing defenses eat Aaron Rodgers alive, didn't want this guy. Agreed... This just.. I don't even know what to say. I... errr.... ugh...
dockeryfan
Maybe there is something to the Sellers criticism. A blocking back that the coach knows.

NewCliche21
You have to be kidding me about cutting Mason. He's been nothing but solid. **** this team.
CounterTrey75
So apparently, Mason whiffed on major blocks during Sunday's game. That's the reason why they cut him per ESPN980.
Rocky21
People on this site have been wondering why the Skins hadn't picked this guy up for months. I swear a committee of ES members could run this team better than Cerrato.
Hail Gibbs
Too little too late. At least an attempt is finally being made to fix the OL, and most importantly without spending draft picks.
ljs
a funny, sort of side note...( I actually remember this story when it happened) [edit] Las Vegas scuffleIn March 2007, Joey Porter and Jones were involved in a brawl at a Las Vegas casino. Porter still had unresolved ties with Jones from their days in the AFC North between Porter's Pittsburgh Steelers and Jones' Cincinnati Bengals. Porter would go on to play for the Miami Dolphins in 2007. On May 30, Porter pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. Porter was docked 3 game paychecks for his actions. Later reports into the incident revealed that it was not just Porter, but also 6 of his friends who attacked Jones http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levi_Jones
twenty-eight
Really Quinton Ganther, lose two unknown runningbacks (with the exception of Marcus Mason preseason 2 years ago) only to sign another unknown............and Levi Jones is Garbage, injury prone, passed on by the Lions and Packers. Thats because the lions and the packers have better offensive lines than the Redskins

ljs
also want to add, that reading over some stuff about him trying out with GB, they didn't want him b/c they needed a RT, not LT. Post responses from GB fans were a bit upset they didn't at least try him at RT, even though Jones has always played LT.
chow184
gee would have been nice to have seen jones signed before Chris Samuels messed up his spine. levi jones has GOTTA be better than heyer. if we had jones and samuels I think the O-line might have been ok.... ZRagone
I wouldn't mind losing Mason or Alridge for Jones... But why drop the other for this random no name back. Its not like we even gave either a chance to truly see what they could do

Post responses from GB fans were a bit upset they didn't at least try him at RT, even though Jones has always played LT.That makes me feel a little better. TheLongshot
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2006/draft/players/9261.html BIO: All-Conference selection as a senior after totaling 205/1,120/7 on the ground and adding 25/314/1 as a pass catcher. Posted 654 yards rushing in two starts as a junior. POSITIVES: Strong, multi-purpose back who overcame a difficult childhood to get where he is today. Aggressive and gives effort in every facet of the game. Follows blocks, has a burst through the hole and doles out punishment to opponents. Breaks several tackles during a single run and stuns defenders with a forearm shiver. Solid receiver with consistent hands. Chips defenders blocking, removing them from the action. NEGATIVES: More of a straight-line back who has difficulty around the corners. Safety valve as a receiver rather than a true downfield threat. ANALYSIS: One of the more underrated ball-handlers in the draft, Ganther is a competitive ballplayer with multi-dimensional skills. Solid prospect who could develop into a No. 2 back. PROJECTION: Late Fourth Round Sounds like a decent player....

Mason couldn't pick up the blitz if his life depended on it. That's probably what got his ass cut.
