Right. But why now? Hasn't he been available for months?

Because Vinny Cerrato is a headless chicken running around right now. He knows his job is on the line, and he's trying to do everything possible to save himself. Unfortunately I think our team had a better chance of bouncing back before this whole debacle: hiring a bingo caller and cutting the balls off of our Head Coach.

a funny, sort of side note...( I actually remember this story when it happened)

[edit] Las Vegas scuffle

In March 2007, Joey Porter and Jones were involved in a brawl at a Las Vegas casino. Porter still had unresolved ties with Jones from their days in the AFC North between Porter's Pittsburgh Steelers and Jones' Cincinnati Bengals. Porter would go on to play for the Miami Dolphins in 2007. On May 30, Porter pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. Porter was docked 3 game paychecks for his actions. Later reports into the incident revealed that it was not just Porter, but also 6 of his friends who attacked Jones

Really Quinton Ganther, lose two unknown runningbacks (with the exception of Marcus Mason preseason 2 years ago) only to sign another unknown............and Levi Jones is Garbage, injury prone, passed on by the Lions and Packers.

Thats because the lions and the packers have better offensive lines than the Redskins

also want to add, that reading over some stuff about him trying out with GB, they didn't want him b/c they needed a RT, not LT. Post responses from GB fans were a bit upset they didn't at least try him at RT, even though Jones has always played LT.

That makes me feel a little better. Still, the fact that the Lions passed on him with Jeff Backus at LT makes me weary ..

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2006/draft/players/9261.html

BIO: All-Conference selection as a senior after totaling 205/1,120/7 on the ground and adding 25/314/1 as a pass catcher. Posted 654 yards rushing in two starts as a junior.

POSITIVES: Strong, multi-purpose back who overcame a difficult childhood to get where he is today. Aggressive and gives effort in every facet of the game. Follows blocks, has a burst through the hole and doles out punishment to opponents. Breaks several tackles during a single run and stuns defenders with a forearm shiver. Solid receiver with consistent hands. Chips defenders blocking, removing them from the action.

NEGATIVES: More of a straight-line back who has difficulty around the corners. Safety valve as a receiver rather than a true downfield threat.

ANALYSIS: One of the more underrated ball-handlers in the draft, Ganther is a competitive ballplayer with multi-dimensional skills. Solid prospect who could develop into a No. 2 back.

PROJECTION: Late Fourth Round

Sounds like a decent player....

More on Ganther: http://www.titansonline.com/team/roster/quinton-ganther/6e26fd3a-5fe8-4f0c-b0ae-21ee264c6538/

5’9”, 214 lbs, 25 years old

PRO: Running back Quinton Ganther is a downhill runner who packs substantial power in his 5-foot-9 frame. He is versatile enough to contribute as a featured tailback or a fullback. In his first two years with the Titans, he spent the majority of his time on the team’s practice squad (on active roster Sept. 16-30, 2006 and Oct. 20-Nov. 5, 2007). Then, in 2008, he spent his first full season on the club’s 53-man roster, contributing nine carries for 61 yards and six receptions for 43 yards in 13 games. In pre-draft workouts, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds and bench pressed 430 pounds. He was selected with the Titans’ third pick of the seventh round (compensatory selection, 246th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft.
