skinswin=happy
All I hear all the freaking time is how we need the younger guys to step up. Well when the hell is the coaching staff gonna grow a pair and put them in a position to grow up??? The only way to make the transition from college to the pros except for maybe quarteback is to freaking play. You cant grow from the sidelines. Why is Yoder #2 TE, personally i dont ever want to even see him in the game unless its a goal line run from inside the one yard line. And why is ARE still number 2 he will NEVER be a number 2 receiver, so why not put someone else there if it does nothing else than accellerate his play in the slot even at the chance of going down a little at #2 for a little. The offensive depth chart is the exact same as the one that blew last year. Why is rock cartwright the #3? do we really need 3 identical style running backs, and besides that do we really need a return man that is pretty much incapable of making big plays. That ones aimed at ARE and Rock. Like give me a break, its pathetic, and all i can hope is that some of these guys are listed lower (Fred Davis, Thomas and Kelly) only to light a fire under them to get them pumped. And please dont bring up that they are not ready yet, i went to VT watched every game eddie royal was in and I will tell u in college he was not a fantastic receiver, he was fast and a good return man, but he got a unlikely chance to succeed and did, so give someone a chance. zCommander
1. Change your title before the mods do. 2. Please put paragraphs between the points you are making. It is hard to read and keep up with your rant. 3. Thanks.
IONTOP
Sure we can make all of these younger players grow... Fred Davis #1 TE this year, bench cooley until we need 2 te Devin Thomas, Malcomb Kelly #1 & #2 Rec. put Tana #3 That way, after a year, we'll have 2 #1 Recievers (Tana and Devin) and a solid #2... 2 #1 TE's (Cooley and Davis) (Playing time doesn't automatically get you the talent to be what you're playing... Ask Lamar Marshall, Durant Brooks, etc)
B.Rob
I think the main point to support your argument is, it's not like we're actually that close to a championship that we need to keep the "known quantity" vets in. I agree that we should give select youngsters a chance to grow...for our future.
SirClintonPortis
Sure, they can play your way. Just don't expect them to have as much 'smarts' or 'savvy' as a vet would. You can pretty much guarantee a medicore season as well due to such a low 'awareness' stat.

All the players have to do is convince the coaches to put them in the game. It's that easy.
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
i agree with your basic premise, but this team is never gonna let the kids play as long as their is "hope" that were gonna win it all. if the team ever decides it needs to overhaul some areas instead of throwing FAs at the issues, youll see the kids play. guys like thomas, kelly, rhinehart, williams, brennan, all should be given a chance to play, but as long as were paying vets 30 million dollars at their positions they wont get any playing time. even last year when the playoffs were out we didnt even let the kids play. completely stupid. why brennan, rhinehart, thomas, and davis werent all starting against the 49ers is a total mystery, but no matter the reason, it was a stupid one. pvkeeper19
Malcomb Kelly MALCOLM Kelly. This misspelling really bothers me for some reason. (Playing time doesn't automatically get you the talent to be what you're playing... Ask Lamar Marshall, Durant Brooks, etc) Lemar Marshall was actually a fairly good player for us. The OP's point is not without merit. Problem is, when your boss is Danny Boy, the "win immediately or get fired" clause in the head coach's contract makes it difficult to develop young guys by giving them playing time.
