TXREDSKINS44
Just like Walt Harris made the Pro Bowl with like 10 INT's for SF in 2006 a year after we basically kicked him to the curb Don't remind me.
elkabong82
the same poster who said the Hall things was close and would come down to the wire, and who said Canty would be the first to visit here before it too was reported, also said Springs is definitely out of Washington. I think he'll be 3 for 3.
SoCalSkins
I'd rather have Springs for 10 weeks than Rogers for 16. This is Smoot's comeback year regardless.
Spartacus87
Adios Springs. He'll probably wind up making the Pro Bowl with another team Well, first, he won't, because he won't even see the field. And second, if he does, who cares? Honestly? He costs us too much money at this point, his skills are declining even when he's healthy, and he doesn't even come across as that great of a teammate. Good riddance, he can make all the Pro Bowls he wants somewhere else, but our main corners for the next 5-6 years should undoubtedly be Rogers and Hall. Spartacus87
See the Walt Harris example Except that wasn't even a great Pro Bowl nod in the first place, he got it because he had a few picks against some awful teams, and since then he's been pretty average to downright bad for San Francisco. So what does the Walt Harris example really mean? Lose a guy we don't need anymore so he can go somewhere, have one decent season, then continue to decline? While we can get younger and more athletic at that position when replacing him? Sure. The Rogers haters never end. Sorry that he's been the best cover corner we've had in a few years.
Conn
Beat me to it. It is so obvious that he is going to Dallas when he gets cut. I will be shocked if he went to any other team. Agreed. Luckily, we know that there is a very high chance he'll be sitting the bench for those two games a year...
warriorz
Better to let them go a year early than a year late.

Springs is the reason that the Roland trade worked out so well for us. He was our best corner in a time where we hadn't made the playoffs for years. The Skins asked the man to take a paycut while giving Archuleta that enormous deal. He's pretty much kept his mouth shut after the team showed him very little respect. There is no way we resign Rogers unless 2010 actually end up being uncapped. Both of the Auburn 1st rd busts will be gone in short order.
bulldog
Smoot has lost a step and a half. He really can't man up on the outside anymore and be counted on against the better receivers. I don't think he makes it back if the Redskins can keep Rogers and can find a younger #3 to be Rogers understudy for 2009 with an eye to starting in 2010 opposite Hall. Rogers is worth the investment. His only real problem is his hands, and I'll live with that. Smoot is 29 and for all we know may be on the decline as opposed to just a funk. We don't need to be show offs and add to the count. How is Rogers worth the investment? He wasn't worth a top 10 pick and he certainly isn't worth what a starting corner in the NFL will make on the open market. The love for Auburn talent that can't produce is amazing. COWBOY-KILLA-
Our defense was substantially better when he was on the field.....when he was on the field. Its about that time...see ya blue.
Going Commando
Whats with the bitterness? It's not like Springs was hurting himself on purpose, and for the most part, he has been our best Corner the past four or five seasons. I understand that his salary is too high for what we are trying to do, but the team is inarguably better with him, and he is still probably our best coverage guy. Spartacus87
Brunell threw 22 threw straight completions against the Texans. He is the greatest QB in NFL history. Hilarious that you'd actually compare Brunell playing dink and dunk against a horrible defense for one game, to Rogers' playing ability over the course of an entire season, while coming back early from a serious knee injury no less.Hey who cares about your clearly biased and stubborn opinion? It's not like facts and statistics prove you completely wrong here. We don't have time for that if we can instead just come up with something clever like "Carlos No "D" Rogers" LOL! You want turnovers? Be happy we signed Hall, he'll get a few while also actually giving up more yards per play than Rogers. You want even more turnovers? Maybe find a way to get us a real pass rush without having to break the complete bank for Haynesworth. Get those two steps together, in unison, and we can worry about Rogers and his lack of hands despite how well he covers. Because you know, it's also not like Springs, in his entire time here, only had one more interception than Rogers has. Or that the only person we've ever had in the past 4-5 years getting interceptions was Sean Taylor in 07. But Rogers must suck, yeah.

SoCalSkins
Since Rogers is the backup CB, I would expect him to give up very little per play while sitting on the bench. However, his interceptions might improve.
88Comrade2000
cut him. He's injury prone and old and we have Hall.

You really think he's that bad? Want to prove it by providing something other than his bad hands?
RWJ
cut him. He's injury prone and old and we have Hall. Plus we have Rogers. Hey Hall and Rogers works for me in the secondary. Springs is only on the field for 1/3 of the season and gets paid 8 mill. this year. It's doesn't make sense. Springs must go bye bye.
bishtw
Doesn't matter if you agree with the move or not, his days are numbered. The only question now is (as someone asked earlier) can we get anything for him in a trade or is he simply cut. What is your thoughts?
