hit_the_skins
Just a thought, but what I think the Redskins should consider, is adding Rod Marinelli as their D-line coach. Some may laugh because of his recent record as the Head coach of the Detroit Lions, but just look at his resume and what he did as a D-line coach while he was in Tampa. :2cents: http://www.detroitlions.com/bio.cfm?bio_id=335§ion_id=15&top=21&level=2&season=
Dan T.
Marinelli was in an impossible situation in Detroit. So I wouldn't pin that whole disaster on him.
bikie
I'd LOVE marinelli as a dline coach... I've heard nothing but extraordinary things about him as a coach, person and teacher... like Dan T. said, his situation in Detroit was decided by millen... besides, we aren't asking him to be a head coach, just do what he does best, and by all accounts I've heard, that's teach... Xero21
If we could get a guy coming off a Head-Coaching job to take a positional job, especially a guy like Rob Marinelli, then I'd be all for it.
S.TaylorMade
i'm all for it... but we need BIG pass rushers like Ken Harvey... not baby rushers like AC, JT, or MW
Redskin4ever
This would be a good hire. There are a lot of great coordinators who become head coaches and fail, then go back to being great coordinators. As much as we hate to say it, Norv Turner falls into that category. So do Cam Cameron and Mike Martz.

I would love him as our d-Line coach. I take nothing from his time in detriot, because it's detriot. He's seems like a good guy and he was great in tampa. Plus John Palermo (SP) gotta go. I am suprised they didnt even get one win, because they had the lead in the 4th in alot of games. But he dosent get the blame for the bad play in my outlook!!! corrupt3d
1. All people ever do is go on and on about how great of a person he is. 2. He led a very productive DL squad in Tampa 3. He's a great coach, but no one can make something out of 0, which is what Millen gave him 1 + 2 + 3 = I'm sold.
Chief skin
Millen is no different then vinny, our Dline vinnys Dline is a joke but, like vinny says sacks are overrated so everything is fine. I think Marinelli has had more then enough of a dysfunctional front office he wont come near us

I think Marinelli has had more then enough of a dysfunctional front office he wont come near us slightly different. Millen did draft d-linement early. They also brought in some decent free agent d-line guys, not studs, but solid players in DeWayne White and Chartric Darby. They've drafted a linemen in the top 3-4 rounds in 4 of the last 5 drafts. A proper coach and talent around and their d-line could actually be pretty decent. We don't draft d-line, but everyone already knew that...
praise_gibbs
Romeo Crennel was a D-Line coach as well. VA native. Anyone? Ok maybe though? Lol

I don't know if he'd have a choice or not considering how bad their record was there. Mike Martz left as the head coach there and had to step back down to offensive coordinator. Wyndorf25
Call me crazy, but I like Marinelli. He has done some great things with his D-lines in the past and had very little to work with as head coach of the lions. The Lions are a dysfunctional franchise from the top down (kind of like the Redskins but much worse and with a GM). Personally, I'd love to have Marinelli come in and set this d-line straight. BALLz
I feel like in these situations the coach seems to go somewhere he has connections. Does he have any here. Has he every coached anywhere at the sametime as one of our coaches. If Dungy stays with Indy, and Ron Meeks gets a HC job this year, I can see Marinelli being the DC in Indy. He was Dungy's DLine coach for 10 years.
Hailskinz1991
I was thinking about posting this myself. Marinelli was accomplished as a Defensive Coach. He was a firey guy that brough emotion and passion out in his players. I think he would be a beautiful additon to our defensive coaching staff. If we lose Jerry Gray, I would be all for bringing in Mangini to coach the secondary. We need these guys, I was not encouraged to learn that Greg Blache was considering retirement at the time he was promoted to Coordinator. I don't like the idea of having a coach that is considering retirement working with a coach (Zorn) that is trying to establish his own. We need young and hungry, not old and grumpy. Besides a quarterback, the coaching staff is still the single most important piece to a successful NFL team.
frommd
We need better players on the lines more than we need better coaching.
