Well, the new Bond movie: Quantum of Solace is out today. I thought I'd ask some Bond related questions. You may want to wait until you see the movie first.

Sean Connery as Bond was the definition of cool; Daniel Craig is cool with the "take no prisoners" approach, and very much more a 3-D Bond rather than the 2-D stuff of the past.

Quantum of Solace is getting crappy reviews:

Action, reaction

The camera swoops and jerks like a rubber bat on a string, and all the shots look as if they've been thrown into an industrial-strength blender. Some people will see all this and think, "Wow." But no 007 experience should come so close to being a slushie.

Frankly, "Quantum of Solace" is just one exasperated dressing down away from being "Lethal Weapon 9."

Bond, All Knotted Up

It took two men to kill James Bond: Austin Powers and Jason Bourne. At least that's the impression left by "Quantum of Solace," the newest and most joyless installment of one of cinema's most venerable franchises.

From its hyper-edited, incoherent opening sequences to the dreary monotony of Bond's revenge kick, "Quantum of Solace" is one brutalizing bummer of a ride, a chain of increasingly explosive fight scenes strung together by bits of talky exposition. Even the locations, long part of the lush vicarious enjoyment to be had at a James Bond movie, have no zing.

Well, I came back from seeing the movie. I'll give it a B-. It had the action and it was definitely a sequel. A sequel that maybe shouldn't have been made. It was missing something.

Since this was a sequel to the origin story, it didn't yet have all the Bond elements. I am hoping they have it in the next movie. We got the backstory and now it's time to give us the full Bond and all the elements that make it a Bond movie.

I'll answer my questions over the weekend.

I give it a B-. I did feel a little dissappointed and felt it was missing something. Still, it was alright and I'll probably see it again. I get the feeling they had leftover script from Casino Royale and decided it would be easier to do a sequel than do a whole new complete story, unrelated to Casino Royale.

I do know one thing, it's time to give us the full Bond and all those great elements in the next movie. I want the Bond theme in the movie and not near the end. Bond gets gadgets. Moneypenny returns.
