I realize he's only his son, but still.
TrumanB
Intersting. Just the other day, I was thinking "I wonder who William F. Buckley's son is supporting". With this newest revelation and the announcement by Chuck Hagel's wife the other day, I'm starting to think about changing my vote. I hear that George Will's wife's second cousin twice removed will be announcing her support for Obama in a few days. I'm on pins and needles. We should be hearing an endorsement announcement from the second cousin twice-removed of the late Casper Weinberger soon as well, so wait for that too! He makes some good points, and seems to know your candidate far better than you do.
TrumanB
Did you read the article? He makes some good points, and seems to know your candidate far better than you do. Of course I did. I ALWAYS value the opinion of William F. Buckley Jr's son. I hang on his every word.
luckydevil
Uh, Christopher Buckley is not some minor figure. This is a big deal ( though really not that surprising).

Apparently, TrumanB doesn't even care what key intellectual leaders in his own party think. Is there such a thing as a "Yellow Dog Republican"? expensivegift
OMG Christopher mother ****ing Buckley just endorsed Obama. Stop the presses! I will change my vote to Obama.
Zguy28
Can we just create one thread and merge all of these into it? Maybe sticky it at the top of the Tailgate and call it "Obama's Endorsements"?
luckydevil
A damn shame his father isn't alive, he would have endorsed Obama too.

The Sisko
Again, without the sarcasm please, what do you think of the points he brings up? He's too busy whistling past the graveyard to consider Buckley Jr.'s points, which are quite valid IMHO.

Smoot Point Really
This isn't exactly a ringing endorsement from Buckley... It's a cross-your-fingers, hope I don't look stupid endorsement.
luckydevil
This isn't exactly a ringing endorsement from Buckley... It's a cross-your-fingers, hope I don't look stupid endorsement. It's really a more anti-republican/McCain column than a pro Obama piece, that's for sure. I am in that camp as well.
Lombardi's_kid_brother
Christopher Buckley is a great author and has always seemed to - at the very least - lean to the right. He's certainly not Ronald Reagan, Jr. I don't think endorsements get other people to vote. However, I do think that they give you a sense of the country's mood. I still don't know why Little Green Men has never been turned into a film. It's been kicking around Hollywood for years.
Predicto
Christopher Buckley is a great author and has always seemed to - at the very least - lean to the right. I would hope so. He is the back page columnist for the National Review, after all.

bird_1972
He is a libertarian. Actually, I believe he describes himself as a small-government fiscal conservative who is socially libertarian (according to the article, at least)
JMS
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2008-10-10/the-conservative-case-for-obama/Interesting, considering the kind of man his father was. I realize he's only his son, but still. No big deal. Krusteff and Stalin's kids have been liveing in the United States for decades. I guess sometimes the acorn does fall far from the tree. Then again his father broke hard with the Republican party on many issues. He believed in the legalization/decriminalization of Drugs and objected to the massive deficites. Baculus
Nope, don't belong to the Republican party. Hmmm, could have fooled most of us! You really don't like to debate points or read anything out of the realm of your POV, do you?
