Cities with the highest proportion of women to men ?

There was a thread about the places with the most beautiful women.

That dealt with quality.

This deals with quantity.

What city or area has the most women in proportion to men, either from your

experience, or from stats you've heard.

This is for men who like diversity in their women :)

The only similar stat I have heard is Alaska, where it is the opposite -

far more men than women. How about a city where quantity of women > men

I saw a map that was dated 2007, but apparently, there are far more single women than men in the D.C. area, as well as Chicago, Illinois. Actually, the entire east half of the US has more single women, and the entire west coast has more single men.

Is there a way to tell what the exact cities are, that have the big, orange dots - when it's not totally obvious what city it is ?

Here ya go Mick...

Looks like you need to head to McAllen, TX ....for the locals it appears that Bethesda is your place to hang if you want to play the odds. :)

I saw that in today's news, surprisingly just 1 day after I posted this thread.

But explain this :

In that same article, in ONE graph it has McAllen, TX as #1 on the list of "Top Ten Least Single Cities"

BUT, in ANOTHER graph, they have McAllen as #1 on the list of "Top 10 Gender-Imbalanced Cities" with 28% more women than men !

Huh ?

Virginia, eh ?

I didn't share that view when I lived in Virginia

From http://www.jmu.edu/jmuweb/general/news/general7490.shtml and http://www.jmu.edu/admissions/facts/index.shtml

Overall Enrollment

Female 61%

Male 39%

You asked for proportions of female to male, and if you go to JMU you will find more females to males. It used to be more like 70/30 when I attended.

He also did ask for "cities" and I don't think Harrisonburg counts. Also, college towns should not count as they will be disproportionately high. Wherever Old Dominion is, Radford, Longwood even, more girls at those schools. However, most of them are from nova and DC, therefore it's believable that DC would have a higher amount of single girls.

He asked for city or area, and JMU counts as both. It's the CITY of Harrisonburg: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrisonburg,_Virginia .

And you can't lump Radford girls with JMU girls....

San Francisco has a high population of available women also.

:D I don't know if there's an imbalance between the #s of gay men vs lesbians, however I always heard the single nurses I've worked with complaining about the lack of available single men. Heck, it's something I hear from single women here all the time. I know some that have even gone as far as moving away to find guys. It's just too bad I didn't move here before I met Mrs. '06.
