Schefter: Pack making exploratory phone calls to trade Favre

I can't see Favre going to the Eagles. They have a backup they burned a high second rounder on that they are high on. They are also going to be busy trying to settle contract turmoil from within with Lito, WB and McNabb.

I would not rule out that ends up in DC although I really hate to think of giving up any more draft picks.

Perhaps a crazy thought since they don't run a WCO but what about Favre to Dallas as Romo sits to pee's backup? :whoknows:

I mean, they aren't in GB's division, need a good vet backup, may have to give up picks or a decent sized contract to get to get any other decent backup, have cap space and I've read they're going to SB:rolleyes: .

My good lord. Do only half of my posts show up or something? How in the world could you be so unable to grasp what I'm saying here?

I've stated, in no uncertain terms, that the Redskins are good at drafting. So, what exactly does this post prove, if I've already acknowledged that the Skins are good at drafting.

And how does the Eagles draft history tie in to this conversation? Is there any tie-in at all?

And the Eagles free agency failures, where's the connection?

The reason people keep bring up the draft is because you said we don't understand the value of a 2nd round pick.

Or you could eventually try to understand the value of a 2nd round pick, and then maybe we could have an intelligent conversation about football.

Here is a list of your 2nd picks from the last 10 years:

2007

Kevin Kolb - 1 game

Victor Abiamiri - 6 games, 0 sacks

2006

Winston Justice - 7 games played in 2 seasons

2005

Reggie Brown - solid #2 receiver playing #1 receiver role

Matt McCoy - Journeyman now on his 3rd team in 4 seasons

2004

No second round pick

2003

L.J. Smith - Very good TE

2002

Micheal Lewis - Starting SS for the 49ers

Sheldon Brown - Very good CB

2001

Quinton Caver - Out of football, 4 career starts, none for Philly

2000

Todd Pinkston - fairly good career as #3 receiver, out of football

Bobbie Williams - started half a year for the Eagles, 4 year starter for the Bengals

1999

Barry Gardner - Journeyman LB played for 4 teams, out of football

1998

No second round picks

Maybe you want to explain to us again about the value of the 2nd round pick?

Ouch. It's been documented in the past that Parcells drafts in Dallas were for the most part overrated, but this is some interesting stuff here about Philly. That's a brutal history of second rounders for them.

I'm sick of Favre. I don't care where he goes. Just go. The Packers are morons for not simply bringing him back. WHO got them to the NFC title game? HE did. What harm are you REALLY doing your team by bringing him back? None. Do you REALLY want the Aron Rogers ''era'' to begin now?

And every team balked at the thought of a 2nd and 6th for a guy who is going to retire in 6 months.

lol

You kind of trapped yourself with that one. If you had bothered to read the news, there was a three way deal in place where the dolphins would actually have recieved a 2nd and a 5th for him, and he would end up at the Giants.

If you know how to count, 5 is lower than 6.

Nothing will top the TRADE-UP for Jerome McDougle.

The Eagle recent drafting history, in general, is nothing to write home about. Take a look here:

http://www.databasefootball.com/draft/draftteam.htm?tm=PHI&lg=nfl

Not a lot of names jumping out at you there. Sure, they've gotten some quality players there (several solid players out of the 2005 draft, as a matter of fact), but nowhere near the quantity that they are reputed to have gotten, especially considering the multitude of picks they've used over the years.

That doesn't have anything to do with the point. Not at all.

The value of a second round pick is an objective reality.

The failure of the Eagles when drafting in the second round does not effect that objective reality. Not in any way whatsoever.

Perhaps, but it's still fun to look at. :D
