Vernon Gholston is going to be a beast, hopefully he drops to 21. please please please drop to 21. Then we can draft oline in the 2nd or go WR. Sweed is good, but our problem has been our offensive line. Portis needs running lanes and Campbell needs protection. Sweed won't give us any of those.

If we got Alan Faneca in FA or something, I could see going WR in the first and then DE in the second and perhaps CB in the third, but we desperately need oline help. Everyone is above 30 except for Heyer.

Why would Dallas want to draft McFadden, they have two running backs that are starters, altho they will probally trade one for a defensive player.

Julius Jones is free agent that will most likely not be retained and marion jones barber is a RFA that has never been a full time starter.

I'm a HUGE Sweed supporter. If we can't land Ocho Cinco, he'd be the next best thing. But WR and DE aren't a need, its more of an upgrade. We're passable at those positions, whereas OL Depth is a Sincere Need. Fortunetely, Depth isn't drafted in the first, so we can get Luxury players in the first, and maybe the 2nd as well.

I agree, there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to reach for a Wide Receiver at 21 especially given their propensity to bust. of course if a few CBs fall off, and DT/DE isn't the option. eh :/ I want oline badly :/

No Chad Johnson is NOT worth a 2nd Round pick straight up. Not unless we get some cap relief with Lloyd or something like that. 3rd maybe. 5th or 6th you betcha!

A- DL is more prone to being a bust than WR, in particular, DT.

B- Chad Johnson is worthe very bit of a 2nd round pick. An ELITE WR for a 2nd rounder is a steal, considering if you shopped Moss or TO or Wayne or Holt, you would ask for no less than a 1st and another pick.

i would rather get a stud DE at 21 instead of a WR...we can always get one in round 2

We could always get a DE in the 2nd. I'd rather have Sweed in the first than Grove in the 2nd, than Campbell in the first, and Bowman in the 2nd.

I'd rather get the DE in Round 1 it just depends. Drafting receivers high scare me, too many have been busts

Just as many DEs have been busts. And 21st isn't high.

It has been rumored all season that Jones really wants McFadden. The Arkansas Razorback connection, and the fact that Julius may not be resigned. I'd tend to agree that if McFadden slips down that far I think you'll definitely see Dallas get in the bidding for him.

WR in the 1st? PASS!

DE is a much more pressing concern than WR. Take a WR in the 2nd or 3rd.

DE is not a much more pressing concern. OL is a more pressing concern then both of them. We can survive at those two positions, but an upgrade is necessary. Depth is far more important on the OL, but depth comes later. We don't need just any DEs or any WRs, we either need another pass rush specialist, or a big possession receiver. Limas Sweed could be just the threat JC needs to open up his game. Someone over the middle, or running that fade route. Get Quentin Groves in the 2nd, and both needs are satisfied.

Sweed put up 12 TDs during his Junior Year. He has sensational hands, and can adjust to the deep ball. He's the kind of player you can throw it to on any down. Down the field, he can fight for the ball. Out in the flats, he can get tough YACs. Over the middle, he can be sure handed and move the chains. In the endzone, he's a TD machine.

getting Gholston at #21 would be a draft day dream. his name has been thrown out as the #1 to miami so i really doubt he would ever last until #21 but you never know i guess you can dream right?? :cloud9:

my ideal draft day would be

Round 1 - CB - Tennessee State - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie - this kid is gonna be a beast. He is a cousin to Antoine and his game is right on par with his as well. The only thing he needs to do is add a bit of weight. Hopefully the weight issue lets Jenkins, McKelvin and maybe Talib go before him. If he is there at 21 we are golden.

Round 2 - Trade for Chad Johnson

Round 3 - DE - (either) - Lawrence Jackson - USC - its a stretch but he might land in the third round because his stock is falling but he would still be a steal here. OR DE - Chris Ellis - Virginia Tech - has a ton of potential and could also be a steal here in the third for us.

That would be a hell of a draft...i would like to see that if we can't get Campbell in the first round

DL is no more prone to bust than WR, but given that more DL get takein in the first than WR there are bound to be more busts numerically. Frankly I don't see the need to reach in the 1st for a WR, not when there will be plenty to be had in the 2nd and 3rd if we need one that badly. Chad Johnson for a 2nd? HELL NO.

Chad Johnson is not worth a 2nd Round pick, not with the salary he is going to command, now a 3rd or 5th and some conditional pick in 09, maybe, maybe. Can we please not give away our HIGH draft picks on LUXURY picks. We have Wide Receivers we just need more production out of them. I'm not opposed in adding a WR, but please don't give up our #1 or #2. We need help at DE/DT, OG/OT, and CB, and those are things we really need on day 1.

Hate to burst your bumbble, but Cromartie is rumored to be moving up the charts in the 12-16 range for being picked, and Jackson Won't last till the third round. (but if he did sure snag him or Ellis).

Sounds good to me. But I dont know if cinnci will take a late 2nd for 85. Hopefully he'll be a real ***** so we can get him cheap.:D

Don't be surprised if JJ drops one of their 2 #1's for chad. Him and TO would be sick for the next year or two. They are hurting at receiver and despite not getting the negative press for it, JJ loves to make a splash more then the Dan.

We can't expect limas sweed to be any more ready to start for the team than calais campbell would be. Personally I think we have too many wr's as it is. Our offense isn't bad, it is average. Thing is, even with our horrible o-line last year it was still average. With a healthy O-line I'd imagine our offense could even crack the top 10 with no major changes. Sure, our defense was great but we were only average at rushing the passer. Our pass rush has been bad, historically bad even, for the past 3 years. I think our first 4 picks ought to be solely spent on our offensive and defensive lines. Giants have 4 quality pass rushing defensive ends, we have 1. That needs to change.

It's hard to say how accurate these mock drafts are this early in the game, but this one seems less on-target than most. Maybe that means it's pretty accurate?

Either way, too many things going on here that don't make sense.

I hope that we have a dedication to both the offensive and defensive linemen in this draft. If we only picked from those positions, I would be elated.
