The deal is contingent on Testaverde passing a physical exam this morning. Testaverde gives the Panthers a veteran backup after losing starter Jake Delhomme (elbow) for the season. David Carr will start Saturday’s game at Arizona. Undrafted rookie Matt Moore also is on the roster. Testaverde has experience in an offense similar to that of coordinator Jeff Davidson's because both player and coach spent time in New England and Carolina's offense is based largely on that system.
