Mr. S
Fade to Black for a slow song, Creeping Death by far for the faster song. I also like Sanitarium and Master of Puppets. I'm impressed, not as much Enter Sandman, Unforgiven, or Until it Sleeps as I thought there would be.
skinsfan44
It's a toss-up between "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and "One."
No_Pressure
Lepper Messiah would be my favorite playing off an album, my favorite live has to be a 4 way tie between Whiplash, No Remorse, Battery, and Harvester of Sorrow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2CajAg9TDc Dont look at the video it will give you a seizure  Those are some lucky Russians. Blighty Skins
I was a member of their official club in LA...so I am/was a big big fan. Best song? You are joking, mate. It's easier to pick the "worst" song...because then it would number probably in the low single digits and for sure all covers. Best songs? Motorbreath...anyone? That's right....forgot that one, eh? Seek and Destroy? Master of Puppets? Disposable Heroes...beautiful...made me shed a tear once it was so touching. Orion...you know...the 8 minute orgasmic instrumental...?? Damage Inc? Ride the Lightning? For Whom The Bells Toll! Call of Ktulu Fade to Black...amazing song Nothing Else Matters...best ballad song ever made... Sandman...Wagner's entrance song at Shea...eff off Rivera And Garage Inc is a superb album of covers...especially like someone else said...Breadfan is amazing...seems it was made for Metallica. After they split up/faded away I went off music...no joke. Metallica>>>>>>>>Beatles. edit: Bollocks...forgot "One"...amazing song.

Blighty Skins
Ok, I'll give you the only Metallica song which I don't like...and bear in mind I love every other song they ever made...so saying I don't like this one is saying a lot. The song is: Fuel. To me it signals when metallica went commercial...it was made for a movie also...can't remember which one. That song makes me cringe... Now "Until It Sleeps" or "The Memory Remains", those tracks are just toothless, so to speak. As for movie songs, "I disappear" for MI:2 is lousy as well. Blighty Skins
Oh yeah...anyone see Metallica at the MTV awards in 1997 if I remember correctly. They were supposed to sing King Nothing live and it was being aired live. At the last minute the guys decided to play "So What" by the British punk band Anti-Nowhere League and then smashed all the instruments up at the end. Effing brilliant. Here are the lyrics for the song they sang (a lot of swearing): http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/So-What-lyrics-Metallica/6126CAB2CED3C4734825688D00361154 Ignore the comments at the end by the puny little commercialised Metallica fans. This song was written at the height of punk in 1981 by REAL punk band. It's a classic.

I didn't mind Metallica loosing their teeth....they were all in their 40s and had families afterall...it's just that they sold themselves out with making stupid music for Holywood...I can't stand the fake belch James does in Fuel...and it's too thrashy in a commercial way...you know...you can imagine a music exec saying "make it easier on the ears".
