That's excellent Zoony...reminds me of a house I built in the Sims 2. I was testing the game for my niece...seriously...I was. I gave the game to her now....after I made an extensive Sims family...

Paint skirting/window frames (if wood). Change curtain railings/light fittings.

Get a professional. Seriously...do. Do you know how to mix mortar? Put in a window frame you know will not collpase after 20 years? Put a frame in square so it's well insulated and wont budge if you have slight house movement? Handled glass before, so you don't risk cutting a major artery? No? Then hire a professional. If you're really desperate, when the pro puts up your windows, observe how he does it and do it yourself next time, if you feel confident enough.:applause:

We're behind on the grouting front here...we tend to just use an all in one tile adhesice/grouter. Never seen different grouter colours in DIY centres...maybe it's exclusive to the trade here still? Anyway..nice idea having a choice. :applause:

I went with Mosaic style tiles...I like them: Looks nicer now the grouting is finished...

:cool:Don't drink while/before you use power tools. Actually it's good practice to have a beer after you finish so you can relax, beer in hand and survey the damage..errrr.....finished job. :applause:

hint: use screws, not nails to put up shelves.

This is a great thread! DIY is such a manly-bonding process...the thread should have "(no women allowed)" added to it.

^^^ That's a nice fence you put up there Rince...even for a Yankee fan. I'm doing up a whole house: New kitchen, bathroom (without changing cupboards) and the rest of the house needs decorating. The house was empty for about 4 years and empty on and off for nearly 10 years...and it was never modernised. So far it's had a new central heating with a condensing bioler installed last year...I've nearly finished the bathroom. Kitchen next.
