Soup
Just go to ESPN home page and scroll down to the poll at the bottom. The poll asks who was the biggest ommission from the HOF and Art Monk destroys the pack with a 40 percent vote, a 2:1 ratio. And if you click on the map, about 46 states voted art monk by far. Titaw
Eric Allen stated: Monk and Irvin are very similar in their styles. What made Monk so great on the football field was how he used his big frame just like Irvin. What I think is ultimately hurting Monk is that he played with wide receivers Ricky Sanders and Gary Clark. While having those two receivers on his team helped him win Super Bowls, it's hurting him as he attempts to make the HOF because he had to share receptions. Monk was a chain mover and you knew if it was third-and-short that he was getting the ball. He deserves to be in the Hall. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2753181

browncl
Interesting. Here is the page as of 7:18pm on 2/3. It wasn't voting on who is getting snubbed, it was a simple vote on the 17 eligible... and Monk tops EVERYONE else (including this year's six inductees!) Amazing.... ************************* Who should be in the Hall? Thank you for voting. See below to see who SportsNation thinks should head to Canton. Remember, on the official ballot, a candidate must get 80 percent of the vote to be elected with a minimum of three and a maximum of six getting in. If fewer than three get 80 percent, the candidate with the next highest percentage will be elected. (Players with 80 percent of the vote appear in bold.) Which players would get your Hall of Fame vote? (vote for as many as desired) 48.2% Art Monk, WR -- Redskins (1980-93), Jets (1994), Eagles (1995) 46.5% Gene Hickerson, G -- Browns (1958-73) 45.8% Thurman Thomas, RB -- Bills (1988-99), Dolphins (2000) 44.0% Bruce Matthews, G/C -- Oilers/Titans (1983-2001) 39.4% Michael Irvin, WR -- Cowboys (1988-99) 39.2% Derrick Thomas, LB -- Chiefs (1989-99) 28.1% Richard Dent, DE -- Bears (1983-93, 1995), 49ers (1994), Colts (1996), Eagles (1997) 25.4% Paul Tagliabue, NFL Commissioner (1989-2006) 24.7% Andre Reed, WR -- Bills (1985-99), Redskins (2000) 17.6% Ray Guy, P -- Raiders (1973-86) 16.4% Russ Grimm, G -- Redskins (1981-91) 11.8% Gary Zimmerman, T-- Vikings (1986-92), Broncos (1993-97) 11.4% Charlie Sanders, TE -- Lions (1968-77) 11.0% Bob Kuechenberg, G -- Dolphins (1970-84) 10.9% Fred Dean, DE -- Chargers (1981-85), 49ers (1981-85) 9.6% Roger Wehrli, CB -- Cardinals (1969-82) 9.2% Andre Tippett, LB -- Patriots (1982-93) Total Votes: 82,792 http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/ballot?event_id=2766&incoming=

redskins35to7
eff Irvin, eff the HOF what a disgrace. I say we boycott the HOF until Monk gets in! What a joke! I think you are on to something, we should have a huge protest at the hall of fame induction ceremony this year. I don't think anything like that has been done before. Just imagine hundreds of redskins fans at the hall of fame with signs and chanting for Monk to finally get in and disrupting Irvin's induction. aszumilo
I think the time is over to want Monk in the HOF. It has become nothing but a disgrace. Monk has led a good life, been an upstanding player, role model, and citizen. Why would he even want to associate with this kind of sleazy organization?
