jnhay
I would love the season to stop right now so you guys would shut up about these random critics. I'm so tired of seeing these threads because people should be entitled to their opinions, get over it.

RabidFan
Golic's rant on the Knicks rookies was classic though....calling them babies for earning millions but needing a pat on the butt and not berating by a HOF coach in Larry Brown to feel good about themselves and work hard....thats ridiculous and shows the horrible 'tudes of young players today....ridiculous I say. Santana_Fan
I agree with Belichick being one of the coaches on that list for sure.
XxSpearheadxX
As much as I think Gibbs deserves to be in the top 5, I don't think the fact that he's the "Only current head coach in the HOF" should hold any merit, considering that you can't get into the HOF until 5 years after you retire lol...not too many "current head coaches" have also retired long enough to be considered for--nonetheless voted into--the HOF. Belichick, Cowher and Parcells should make it in as well, easily. Parcells should not easily make it in the HoF. If he crashes and burns in Dallas, I would be very surprised if he was a first ballot HoFer.

spm
My top 5 in no order: Gibbs Belicheck Shanahan John Fox Gruden Gibbs and Belicheck--well it's tough to deny guys who have 3 SB rings. Shanahan--He has 2 SB rings and the Broncos are always tough Fox--He's a young gun who has taken a bunch of average teams and turned them into contenders. None of the good Carolina teams should have been so successful based on their talent Gruden--He turned the Raiders around, then put the Bucs over the top, and now has the Bucs back in contention. Parcells is definitely a great coach and belongs in the HOF, but at this point he seems like he's bored and just working for a paycheck. I'm not sure he belongs in discussions of the NFL's top coaches anymore. This season will make it clear one way or another.
ECU-ALUM
Parcells should not easily make it in the HoF. If he crashes and burns in Dallas, I would be very surprised if he was a first ballot HoFer. He'll make it on the 1st ballot because of Peter King if nothing else.

Califan007 The Constipated
Bill Coward just won the first big game of his career...how can you put him ahead of Gibbs?!?!?!   :helmet: :logo: :helmet: :logo: :anon: :obvious: sorry some of these icons are pretty funny. Califan007 The Constipated
Dungy? Fantastic? Seriously? Also, while I really do respect Cowher, he's what, 1-5 in Conference Championship games? If he didn't win the (world's ugliest) Super Bowl this last January, I don't think he'd be on that list. I'd put Cowher on that list for the following reasons: He's 138-86-1... He's been to five AFC Championship games, winning two of them... Of the three AFC Title games he's lost, one was to New England (who didn't lose to New England during that four-year stretch) and one was to the Chargers on a literally last minute TD... He's been to the Super Bowl twice, winning one of them... He's had most of his success with quarterbacks such as Kordell Stewart, Neil O'Donnell and Tommy Maddox... I give him the edge over Shanahan because unlike Shanahan, Cowher has never had anything close to a HOF QB running his team and has been to more AFC Title games and just as many Super Bowls...not to mention that Shanahan seems to not be able to get past Indy, while Cowher has found a way to get past pretty much whoever stops his team the season before. swaroopm
Apparently being in the hall of fame and winning 3 superbowls gets you placed somewhere between Mike Nolan and Dave Campo in the head coach rating department  Yeah - it's possible to draw conclusions based on things beyond just your short-term memory. I don't agree with them on everything, but I do think Mike&Mike in the Morning (on ESPN radio) is the best show on the radio - they do a good job overall and keep it entertaining. herrmag
Parcells is the most overrated coach in the NFL, easily. And it has nothing to do with him being the HC of Dallas right now, hes just not as good as the insane hype he gets. How is Belichick not number one? Sorry, but Parcells is NOT overrated. No way. I believe Gibbs should be in that list of 5, but Parcells isn't overrated. He's a hell of a coach. Sorry to have to use this @#$% site to back up my statement about Parcells, but here you go: http://lb.dallascowboys.com/team_coach_bios.cfm?newName=Bill_Parcells On January 2, 2003, Bill Parcells took over the head coaching reigns of the Dallas Cowboys, marking the union of one of the NFL's most visible and successful franchises with one of the most prominent coaches in the history of the league. In his first 12 months on the job, Parcells became the first head coach in NFL history to direct four different teams to the playoffs when he guided the 2003 Dallas Cowboys to a 10-6 record and a wild card playoff berth. It was his ninth trip to the postseason as an NFL head coach. After a 6-10 season in 2004, Parcells' 17-year career record now stands at 165-123-1. Parcells is currently 11th in NFL history in total victories by a head coach, and he is the second winningest active coach in the NFL trailing only San Diego's Marty Schottenheimer, who has posted 182 victories in 19 years. With four victories in 2005, Parcells will move ahead of Bud Grant (168) and into the NFL's all-time top 10 for coaching victories. A two-time Super Bowl winner with the New York Giants (1986 and 1990), Parcells is one of only four coaches (Dan Reeves, Don Shula and Dick Vermeil) in NFL history to have led two separate teams to the Super Bowl. He joined that elite coaching group after taking the New England Patriots to the NFL title game following the team's AFC Championship in 1996. One of just four active NFL head coaches to have won at least two Super Bowls (Joe Gibbs, Bill Belichick and Mike Shanahan), Parcells owns a postseason record of 11-7. He has guided 11 teams to winning seasons, and nine of his clubs have won at least 10 regular season games. Parcells-led teams have finished in either first or...... Sorry, that's about all I can take from quoting a dallas site. If you want to see the rest, click the link.
LoudMouth12thMan
Honestly, I like Mike Golic, but that aside...are you going to take the word of a handfull of guys who didn't win a championship and listen to anything they have to say on national radio/television. I listen to Stink, and not even b/c he played for us (and has multiple rings from two teams) but b/c he knows @##% and gets overshadowed by guys like Golic and Salisbury. If that statement he made is true, I bet he would take it back if he could. The guys only human. As an analyst, if you don't put Gibbs as a top 5 coach of all time even, yes I said it, than you are biased and misinformed. HTTR!

elkabong82
My Top 5: Gibbs- HOF, nuff said Marvin Lewis- turned our D into gold, made the Bengals not pathetic anymore Mike Holmgren- Packers, and then turned the Seahawks into a good, albeit over rated, team John Gruden- was great w/ the Raiders, won the Bowl w/ Tampa, and has returned them to the playoffs since Bill Belichick- He is over rated and his team is in a very easy division, but still you can't argue w/ results... 3 Bowls in 4 years Parcells is the most over rated coach, but I still put him in the top ten. Tony Dungy doesn't make the top 5 b/c he has a lot of talent, but can't get his team to the Bowl. Cowher isn't in the top 5 b/c I have several friends who have complained about him for years and still do. He got them to the AFC championship, where they lost it three times in a row. He is like Schottenheimer where he will get you to the playoffs, but chokes once he is there. This past season the Steeler's took out Palmer to win, Roethlisberger saved their second game (and Bettis' career), faced an over-acheiving Bronco team, and the refs handed them the Superbowl win. I still put Cowher in the top ten though, but number ten.
bullets1978
:2cents::2cents::2cents: I listen to the Mike & Mike show in the mornings and sometimes I just can't take the stupidity of either. Mike Golic thinks because he was a marginal player in the NFl that that gives him the right to make valid opinions. He is an idiot and nothing he ever says is fact, always based on his opinion. End2round2sanders
Gibbs, belichick, parcells, holmgren, shanahan. As much as I want to put cowher up there he did choke away several AFC championship games AT HOME. And needed a little help to win this super bowl but what he did to get there solidified how good of a coach he is.
