The Ringer
Today, the Redskins are working out Greg Kuehn 6'3'' 200 out of the College of William and Mary. Having attended the school myself I was able to witness his amazing ability. This guy routinely boots 70 yarders in practice and has no problem splitting the uprights on kickoffs, granted the kickoffs are a bit further back in the pros however I feel his ability here would provide a great boost over John Hall. A three time DI-AA All-American, Kuehn shattered all the kicking and scoring records at the College, a prestigious feat considering they were held by NFL veteran Steve Christie. Bias aside, I feel the Skins could not only save a bundle of money on a PK, but also upgrade the position. Attached are his career stats. Unfortunately, I was not able to find information documenting his long distance accuracy, however it is quite impressive. http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/playerDetail.jsp?yr=2005&org=786&player=
jimster
I almost wouldn't mind keeping a 2nd kicker just for kick-offs to keep Hall healthy.

wsniper1
Hall sucks, can him now! He can't even make a FG from the 30.....
somebody509
Good. One of the major problems last year was letting teams start off on the 40 yard line...
Warhead36
A KOS that can routinely boot touchbacks is more valuable than a 10th lineman. As someone else said, if you're down to using your 3rd string linemen your probably ****ed anyway.
Kurd Cudins
I almost wouldn't mind keeping a 2nd kicker just for kick-offs to keep Hall healthy. This sounds like their plan. With Hall scheduled to make almost 2 mil in 2007 he is almost guaranteed of being released next offseason, if not this year. We will save 1.5 mil by dumping him and bring in a young guy. Perhaps Keuhn can develop into a reliable PK as well, but for now we could definitley use a boost on kickoffs. If Hall gets injured again I will personally start the John Hall is a p**** club. Suck it up John!
AllAboutSkins08
hall is getting worse. i don't know how much longer he can last. i'd like the skins to get someone else in case hall does die on us like i think he will.
ScottnSharrer
Hall sucks, can him now!He can't even make a FG from the 30..... He couldn't make a 30-yd FG because he was injured. Why don't you go pull your hamstring, groin, calf, or any other muscle in your kicking leg and try to make a 30 yd FG, I will be willing to bet you miss it by more then 15 yds at best. now, I am from Norfolk, VA, I have seen this guy kick too, and yes he has drilled warm up kicks from 70yds, he would be an excellent PK, which we really need. Hall can do kickoffs or PK but not both. His leg won't hold up

Hall is chronically injured. $20 says he gets injured in the shower before the first preseason game by slipping and tearing his vagina. ouvan59
This guy is clearly only going to be looked at as a kickoff specialist. 66% career on FGs and 61% in his Senior year ain't going to cut it. And to the poster who said that Hall can't hit a 30 yarder, his miss against Seattle was his first miss from inside 40 in 3 years. His health is an issue but accuracy is not. kappaluvacee
Joe mentioned having the punter do kickoffs to help keep Hall fresh. I know hall has been injured lately, but I remember the 2000 season and know what the lack of a good kicker can do. I'm not so quick to call Hall washed up. I think he's good when healthy. The Ringer
Kickers generally don't get drafted, perhaps 2-3 per year in late rounds (unless your a stud from a huge school like Janikowski/Nugent/Crosby next year)...it is most likely Kuehn will become an undrafted free agent

I will agree with anyone that Hall needs to be held back some on responsibility this year and have some one take over part of his duties, BUT some of you are so fast to toss him aside and ridicule him when I do remember Hall has won games for us in the past. If he is healthy, he is the best kicker we have had in years, but a hamstring injury doesn't heal well when kicking is what you get paid to do. The Ringer
Kuehn is from Sterling, attended Potomac Falls High School...fell under the radar for the big school because of lack of help from high school coaching staff for promotion to DI programs. However, was All-Met in Football and Soccer and Virginia MVP in Super 44 allstar game....on a side note Greg was elated to see Nick Novak excel because he felt he outperformed Novak in joint workouts at such camps at 4th Down Sports

When we got Hall from the Jets a few years ago he was easily one of the best kickers in the league and was a major contributor. He could consistanly hit from 50 to 55, maybe 55 was his max...but he's put in some good years for the Skins, let's not run him out of town just yet. WHEN HEALTHY, he is a good to very good NFL kicker....but these injuries over the past 2 seasons have lowered his value. I say picking up the young kid from William and Mary makes sense, start him off on kickoffs and keep him around as insurance if Hall again has a freak injury or proves to be too dinged up for the job. TLusby
If we put RE as our #3 QB we could carry an extra kicker for kickoffs.

What perecentage of starts has Hall made since his arrival? Relative to other kickers how does that compare? The next time Hall completes an entire season you will have room to talk, but until then you need to recognize that this is an oft injured player at a position where injuries are few and far between. Maybe we should trade the Pats for Gramatica?

I wonder how he is doing. :whoknows:
