Skins bring in PK for tryout

Hall can do kickoffs or PK but not both. His leg won't hold up

Hall's leg not holding up... is exactly the point!!!

Hail to our staff and Front office!!! They're not missing anything!!!

If this rookie doesn't pan out... He'll at least bring out the best in Hall...

It seems a lot of people on this site seem to forget the 46 yard kick Hall made in Tampa to help beat the Bucs in the first round playoff game. How about the 51 yarder that beat the Jets in his 1st game as a Redskin? How about the fact that Hall set an NFL touchback mark his rookie year?Granted there has been health issues the last 2 years, however prior to that I believe Hall was pretty much injury free during his previous 5 or 6 year tenure in the league. He is only 31 I believe and could possibly play 7 to 10 more seasons, which is not that unusual for a kicker.Who's to say that he won't get beyond this injury streak and return to his previous form and be a solid kicker for some team?I believe that this year tells the tale, either he stays healthy or the Skins are looking for a kicker.I just hate to see the team revert to what we had before Hall got here when the team went through 3 or 4 kickers in one season. The year Conway got hurt the Skins probably lost 3 or 4 games to missed field goals while trying to find a kicker.I like Novak but he is not the answer and while a little competition is a good thing I don't believe a kicker that has a 66% field goal success rate in college is going to be the answer either.

Having seen Kuehn a fair amount, I'll say that 66% doesn't tell the full story. I have nothing against Hall, if he can stay healthy, but as far as potential I'd have no problem with Kuehn on this team. He's good enough to make it as a pro.

I have nothing against Keuhn. The kid could turn out to be a good kicker.I just prefer a healthy, proven veteran if in fact Hall is healthy. As I stated a little competition is a healthy thing and if Keuhn can consistently kick it in the zone I think a kickoff specialist is a possibility.

the way i see it is, everybody keeps on saying "When he is healthy". There in lies the problem. i have nothing against Hall but come on every year around week 3 he hurts himself and we find ourselves scrambling for a kicker. The man is paid insane amounts of money to kick but spends half the season on the Disabled List. I understand he is a good kicker "when healthy" but that never happens. How many times are we gonna get burned by someone who does not do what it takes to stay healthy? i mean really how many of us would keep our jobs if we could only work half of the time. no matter how good you are your employer is not gonna keep you on. dont get me wrong i like Hall but his constant state of injury has really soured my opinion.

Well, that's up to the staff if they think Hall's injury problems are chronic and can't be managed. It could very well be that they decide to just use him to kick field goals to limit his opportunities to get injured.

I remember the revolving door at kicker. The decision to change kickers isn't to be made lightly.

hall is a great kicker...... when he is healthy. how the heck does a kicker get hurt .... really ..... its not like they have THAT physical of a position. seems he would spend the entire game stretching.... so no chance of a groin injury.... right?

Tell me how many times we kicked the ball past the twenty last season? I bet you can tell me with one hand. I would just love not to have to worry about a kickoff for one measly game. Just one.

Nothing like a little selective memory...

Try this on for size...

John Hall's AVERAGE kickoff last year traveled 60.5 yards. Counting from the 30 yard line that puts the ball right around the 10. So I would say a great number of his kicks were inside the 20. His last healthy year he averaged 61.5 yards per kickoff. Was anyone ****ing about Hall's weak leg back then? His career average is 64.5.

Just for comparison's sake let's check out some of the other kickers around the NFL...

Vanderjagt's career average...60.2 (in a flipping dome!)

Vinatieri last year averaged 61.7 with a career average of 62.4.

Nedney averaged 59.6 last year with a career aveage of 63.9.

Mare averaged 67 last year with a career average of 63.8

Akers averaged 62.6 last year with a career average of 62.7

The beloved Novak averaged 57.2! last year...

Jay Feely averaged 63.4 last year with a career average of the same

John Hall has been injured since we got him. I haven't seen the big game winners he was supposed to have brought the potential to us. How long do you continue to wait for someone to continue to get healthy while teams routinely start at the 35 or 40 yard line and he can't put 3 on the board consistently no matter what the health situation is it doesn't benefit the REDSKINS!!

Ask Martin Gramatica or Brett Conway the latter messing up the Redskins season about 4 years ago.Injuries happen !

How impatient we are!

Do any of you remember what it was like before John Hall? How many games we lost because we did not have a reliable kicker? I would take Hall for a money kick over any rookie kicker who only made 66% of his big-time pressure kicks at W&M <sarcasm>. Keuhn looked good in warm-ups? Kicked 70 yards in warm-ups? But in the game only made 2 out of 3 FGs over his career? Give me a break.

He is good, but he's no Lang Campbell (who is tearing up Europe btw).

I like Kuehn, he is better than his statistics indicate. I've seen every Tribe home game and a few roadies since 2003, and he is a good kicker. He's the sort of guy where you expect him to drill it, and you are surprised when he misses. I'd love him to get a shot.

Lang Campbell Stats in NFL Europe for the Berlin Thunder

43-79 for 514 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT, 67.2 Rating

Wouldn't really say he's tearing it up, but he's a good talent. I would like to see some team give him a real shot in camp.

A KOS that can routinely boot touchbacks is more valuable than a 10th lineman.

As someone else said, if you're down to using your 3rd string linemen your probably ****ed anyway.

It's not the same thing. The 10th lineman doesn't usually dress. He can be some rookie who is being kept around for future potential who never plays. The kickoff specialist takes a spot on the 45-man game day roster. That means a valuable role-player or special teamer sits out to make room.

I'm not saying we shouldn't keep a KOS if he's really good. It's just a much bigger sacrifice then you make it out to be.

That is EXACTLY the point. Hall is chronically injured. $20 says he gets injured in the shower before the first preseason game by slipping and tearing his vagina. Diagnosis: out indefinitely

Seantaylor is god, isnt there a surgeical procedure for torn vaginas. I agree with you, Hall is way past his prime!!!!

As I said before kickers can kick into there 40's in many cases.Hall may well be one of these.

This is true but typically when you have an aging kicker who gets injured it will take him significantly longer to recover from the injury and he will be VERY likely to re-injure himself. This is the problem with Hall.

He can still kick but his durability is an issue now.

He started off stronger, it's been a bit of a struggle lately.

Anyway, I worship that guy. He was the major reason we made any kind of a run in the playoffs two years ago, and he led the greatest comeback I've ever seen in person.

I really think the Browns should give him a long look as their number three, possibly moving up to number two when Dilfer calls it quits.
