SkinsD
My friend and I were debating this. Every team has a franchise player, the face of the team. LT in San Diego, Peyton in Indy, McNabb in Pfilthy. Do we even have one? My friend said it is ST, I think he is close but hasn't been on the team long enough. I argued it is Jansen, I know most franchise type players are never linemen but isn't he the quintessential Redskin? He has played for many years, is reliable, only one injured season, has a great personality, and played with two broken thumbs Who do you think is our franchise player? RunClintonRun
Portis is currently the most recognizable Redskin. Portis gets more airtime than anyone else because of his personality. He may not be the most important player on the team, but he is the "face" of the team.
Big Weirdo
But Sean Taylor, Portis, and Moss are the names you regularly hear when a team plays the Redskins. Mix that in with some Arrington's and Washington's. You guys have plenty of recognizable players.

rincewind
I think as of right now it is Portis, but by the end of next season it could very well be ST.
Mr. S
Ade Jimoh! Nah, used to be Lavar after Green, but now it is definitely Portis.

skinstzar
It is definitely Portis. Sean Taylor is a borderline recluse, Santanna Moss is a low key guy. It is Portis without a doubt. It should be Lavar but the events of the last two years have changed that. I think it is a good thing for Portis to be the face of this franchise. He is our best football player. panel
LaVar, or Jansen, because of the time they have been here.
MoeRedskins
portis got a lot of pub last year for the out there costumes he used to wear, so nationally I think it is him who is the franchise player. In the locker room, it is probably Marcus Washington.
SkinsTerps26
100% its clinton portis. Most people outside of us redskins fans would agree with that in my opinion, although I can see how many skins fans would pick ST. Overall though I really think Portis is the face of the skins, and if he has a better year next year you can definetly put him down as the "face" of the skins. (or faces if you count SE jerome, etc)
RedskinzOwnU
I would say moss, portis, or campbell. Let's face it, if campbell doesn't become our franchise player, or at least one of our top players, this team is not going anywhere anytime soon. More Complete
It's Portis, no doubt. Sean Taylor makes big plays so teams will tend to stay away from his side of the field, and you won't hear his name called much. Moss has the big plays but then some teams will double and tripple cover him and shut him down. With Portis you know he's going to touch the ball 20+ times a game. redskinsfan17
I would have to agree also with Clinton Portis. He has broken our single season rushing record and has a great personality when he dresses up for the camera.

NavyDave
Joe Gibbus Maximus One thing you jersey purchasers should know is that yesterday's franchise player can become today's "discount jersey in a bargain bin" player with a southwest airlines ticket out of here
clubisyohankovic
I've been noticing lately that "Face of the Team" is a term that's thrown around like it's an actual roster position. Seems like more of a public relations thing than a football thing.
n|n
I'd say it definitely Portis currently. However if Campbell does man up enough to start and has a winning season Washington going to go nuts and he will take the throne.
Sweet Sassy Molassy
It's got to be Portis. He's been the one that most media outlets go to when they want to talk to the players.
