Hiro
gotta go with Clinton Portis. Sean Taylor is a great player and all, but I think more people think of CP when they think of the skins.
Lil Kenzo
Portis. But we do have alot of recognizable players on our team. Santana Moss, Marcus Washington, Sean Taylor, Lavar Arrington, Chris Samuels, Jon Jansen, Sean Springs, and even Mark Brunell.
Renesis
The hands down Face of the Francise is Gibbs, but player wise it would be Portis, as people who could care less about the 'Skins generally know who he is.
21KillzCowboys
Franchise player - CP, hands down! MVP - Santana, if you took him away from our offense we wouldn't have won 7 games in my opinion.
TheREALJBird
Sean Taylor ! CP is here for 8 years, its def ST! No it's Portis. Don't let your man crush on Taylor lead you to believe that.
RDSKNFN_48
Portis with Campbell waiting in the wings.
mikeyf316
The ghost of Darrell Green. jk I'd go with Portis, but Moss, and ST are standing right on his heels. We've got a bunch of guys who could handle that role well.
DoGood28
Clinton Portis! He has done nothing but perform since he's been here and we would be lost without him. HAIL TO THE REDSKINS

FootballGuy2677
Franchise Player: Clinton Portis He deserves to be and as soon as that massive deal runs out I hope we offer him another massive deal. I think even if Jason Campbell becomes our Super Star Franchise Quarterback Clinton Portis still will be our franchise player.
Ant15fromNJ
Its Portis. Sean's troubles and spitting makes him not a franchise type player that the media will embrace.
supersmartbrunell5
Santana is our most important player. A dominant #1 receiver is much harder to find than a good running back. Portis is probably the "franchise player" though according to it's complete definition.
bbuzz1962
Walt Harris. I don't think so. Good joke though.
bbuzz1962
Franchise player at this point is an offensive lineman. There is no way we can lose one at this point.
DJCrash34
I'd have to say Portis

clevelanskins28
I'm gonna have to go with Clinton, because he is young and talented, so you can build a franchise off of him. Also, he steps it up on the field. He goes out there and gains the tough yards, and has adapted to our team, rather then making us adapt to him. He is a leader, a great personality, and keeps the team morale and chemistry high. One might have a good argument for Sean Taylor as well. Taylor makes a lot of defensive calls, is young and extremely talented, and has a leadership additude. He has managed to stay away from trouble(in interviews) and seems to find the right words. But right now, due to maturity on and off the field, Clinton is the Franchise player.

Pete
The title of this thread is a bit misleading. I should be something like who is the face of the Redskins or "Mr Redskins. I thought it was about who had the franchise tag on them.
HoyaSkins28
Clinton Portis no question. Moss is great but WR is easier to replace (though it wouldnt be easy to replace him). ST would be my runner-up but I think that to our team in general, Portis is much more valueable. Look what the Redskins offense did against the bucs and the seahawks in the playoffs without him playing in most of the game. WE DID NOTHING AGAINST THEM! in the seattle game he was pretty much shut down but against the Bucs he was hurt and our offense racked up 125 total yards. No question is he the MVP of the Washington Redskins.
