  1. When you put his measureables in at Linebacker he grades in the top 0.08 percent in history of the position. We would be foolish to not try him out at SAM That's him covering John Bates like glue at the senior bowl.
  2. I disagree. He played as a LB in the senior bowl and Del Rio said he would get play at LB after the draft in his interview with Julie last year. He covered TEs like glue and he could be very effective as a Bruce Irvin Edge/Sam hybrid. He profiles better there than where his is currently... Which is undersized for a DE.
  3. When we are in base 4-3-4 I hope the linebackers look like: WLB-Davis | MLB-Holcomb | SLB-Toney As far as nickel sets I think what is sounds like is we are going to shift a lot of guys around. Some with McCain at slot, Percy at FS, Curl at SS. Some with Curl at buffalo, Percy at SS, McCain at FS I think on any given play play Curl and Percy are gonna alternate and disguise who is Buffalo and SS. I'm not sure it's the best utilization of skill-set however, as I feel Percy would be best at replacing McCain as starting FS/Slot-Hybrid. McCain could then come in off the bench as slot corner. Remains to be seen how the DBs are gonna shake out.
  4. I wonder if KJ Wright would be considered... Had a down year last year for the Raiders, but still solid than average. Would be a Thomas Davis type veteran signing. Wouldn't be my favorite of those available, I'd rather an Alexander Johnson or Kwiatkoski.
  5. Posted the bits about the rookie camp standouts in the UDFA thread. Gross is huge. 6ft 4" 220. Could be competition for Cam Sims or at least his practice squad injury insurance for his role of big WR. Ditto Amari Rogers. Think Rogers is probably more of the practice squad stash type just due to his inexperience at the position Will Adams is the really intriguing one. Dude had a 41 inch vert. 10ft 3 broad jump, and runs in the 4.4s. He was the talk of the HBCU combine. Loving the competition we have up and down the entire roster. Camp battles are gonna be really fun to track this year. Except Linebacker of course. We really need something to happen there.
  6. Interesting notes from Keims latest podcast: Standouts from Rookie Camp were: WR - Trey gross - Delaware State DB - Will Adams - Virginia State Also talks of Armani Rogers being switched from TE to WR
  7. I find it hard to believe this guy is as hated as people say he is. If we get even 75 percent of the player in this video, we're gonna be in really really good shape the next 3 years. On a reasonable cap hit too... Just enough time for Sam Howell to perfect his mechanics and footwork and learn the offense inside and out.
  8. I'd argue that we also need to be thinking about Charles Leno's replacement next year as a pretty high need.
  9. Yeah not only that when you plug his measureables in as a LB, his RAS score is something absurd like top 10 all time. I know Del Rio said some rumblings about him learning LB right after the draft last year, but he only seemed to get looks at DE when the actual season hit. I'd love for them to give it a try, if the lightbulb went off for him he could be like a Bruce Irvin.
  10. I could get behind Kwiatkoski. Had a down year last year but had 80 tackles the year before and was considered a top 20 LB by PFF. Probably won't command big money and has some upside.
  11. No I think Sims and Turner on the field in the red zone is too valuable
  12. I mean Holcomb's tackles we're pretty damn good last year. Over 100. I'm just worried about the communication and him stepping up as a vocal green dot. Someone has to stay on the field. Can he take that step? I don't want to see Mayo in the game.
  13. Do you believe in Holcomb wearing the green dot and communicating the defense and think we just need depth? Or would you rather bring in someone that pushes Holcomb outside? Also I'd love to see Shaka Toney get reps at SAM
  14. The way I see it, we already recouped the draft capital traded for Wentz in this year's draft by trading back from pick 11. Not only that, we turned it into 4 players likely to contribute immediately. With our comp pick for Scherff, that softens the blow of the lost draft capital in the 2023 draft. Who knows maybe we trade down again in 2023 and really erase the deficit given up for him. If he plays well enough to cost us our 2nd rounder, we won the trade. Worst case scenario he makes us competitive enough to be the perfect bridge QB for either Howell or a future rookie. I hope Wentz lights up both the colts and the eagles twice.
  15. Agreed. I think Cole is gonna contribute in a big way year 1. Immediately in the red zone with potential to be a more complete player as he develops. He's a poor mans Marques Colston/Jimmy Graham hybrid and he was our backup plan to Drake London I think. Ive said before I think we carry 4 tight ends because Turner is basically a WR. I'm starting to really buy into the emphasis we've put on position flex. Gives us so many options as far as roster construction. A red zone package of Turner and Sims split out wide with Bates inline and B-Rob at RB is exciting. We got our big slot WR in the 5th round folks. And people questioned why I said it was so imperative to trade back in this draft class!
  16. Agreed. I guess we are banking on scooping talent that gets cut. Fingers crossed for a Charles Leno situation at Linebacker. Maybe we will get desperate enough and do an Ereck Flowers-esque trade for a middle of the road vet.
  17. Interesting note that Ferrod Gardner is listed as a Safety on that chart. Played LB at Louisiana.
  18. Does anyone else agree that the coverage of rookie mini camp used to be a lot better years ago? I feel like we had a thread full of tweets and reports on who looked good/who didn't. Recaps of who made plays, etc. Now all we get is a video of a slant route from Dotson and the players getting their helmets.
  19. Seems the main knock on him is his age. Played for like 6 or 7 seasons somehow across two schools. Kid has a crazy story. Loved by teammates it seems. Him and Mikey McMorris are my two way too early picks to stick with the team. Rooting for JP and Drew from Notre Dame to be good because we need LBs badly.
  20. Petrishen is an intriguing tryout. Tested through the roof at his pro day and I mentioned him in the draft thread. Height: 6-foot-0 7/8 Weight: 227 pounds Hands: 8 1/2 inch Arm: 30 1/2 inch Wingspan: 74 1/4 inch Bench: 20 reps Vertical: 38 1/2 inches Long Jump: 10 feet 40 Time: 4.55 Three Cone: 6.97 Shuttle: 4.18
