Welcome To The Washington Commanders Percy Butler Safety Louisiana
Forever A Redskin replied to PCS's topic in The Stadium
I think Percy and Kam alternating at Buffalo makes it easier to disguise who's covering what than with Landon. I like the idea of having 3 versatile safeties. McCain could drop down to slot with Butler dropping to play FS. Or vice versa, with Butler covering the slot. Or Butler drops back to SS with Kam coming up in the box. Or Percy lines up as buffalo but then blitzes off the edge. It could cause problems for offenses. -

They certainly believe in him from the sounds of it so far. I think the plan is Percy showing them that he is who they think he is in camp, and if he is Landon stays a free agent. I'm more worried about Linebacker at this point. Praying that someone solid gets cut, or we trade for a diamond in the rough guy for low round draft capital like we did for Flowers. -
That's my only question mark on the draft. If we see a ton of beast MLBs breakout from this class and Sam Howell doesn't develop into anything I'll be a little pissed. It was one of my main wants in the draft.

I don't get this feeling often but I think we will look back at this draft and it go down as not necessarily our best ever but one that pushes this team over the hump. At minimum we will have the first 4 players playing over 50% of snaps. That's the floor. That alone will make it better than most teams drafts. And it can go from solid to great if 1 of the 2 final picks hit. One of the best in franchise history if Howell develops into a starter.

There are wildly different reports about Percy depending on who you listen to. Some say he has fluid hips, some say he looks stiff. I think playing hurt answers a lot of that. PFF grades are super encouraging. Obviously, not playing against elite talent but Billy Napier got a job at Florida for a reason. He built some really, really, sound teams in Lafayette. -

5ft 8" - 180lbs - Slot Corner? He excelled at Navy Pro Day, showing outstanding explosiveness with a 38 1/2 -inch vertical leap and 10-foot, 9-inch broad jump. The Georgia native has run the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds McMorris was Navy's top cover corner for his final three seasons and routinely matched up against wide receivers that went on to play in the NFL. That list includes the likes of James Proche (SMU, Baltimore Ravens), Marquez Stevenson (Houston, Buffalo Bills) Antonio Gibson (Memphis, Washington Commanders) and Gabriel Davis (Central Florida, Bills). Edit: could see this dude being the fan favorite training camp story. Reminds me of "the people's corner" -

Funnily enough, they might end up with the best of the draft when they traded up in the 2nd for Christian Watson. If the light bulb goes off for that kid, watch out

Calling Dotson a reach is so dumb. If you get too cute worried about fan perception of what a reach is and trade too far back and completely miss your guy, you played yourself. It's smart draft strategy if you love a player to trade a few spots ahead of where you have a feeling they will go to ensure you get your guy. I believe they played it correctly due to the crazy run on receivers.

He really likes Percy Butler. Also said Chris Paul just had terrible coaching but is the perfect ball of clay that could transform into a starter at guard. Said he did crazy stuff like drive block on his tip-toes. Said he's a great scheme fit. Man his comments make me even more excited about this draft class. We got 4 guys who should contribute instantly, And 3 really high upside guys who are boom or bust. The theme is they all live and breathe football. Said Brian Robinsons comment at the combine was "I just want to be surrounded by guys who are passionate about football' He also liked our UDFA TE Hodges, said don't be surprised if he catches on. Just didn't get used much in his college scheme.

Welcome to the Washington Commanders Sam Howell QB North Carolina
Forever A Redskin replied to PCS's topic in The Stadium
Man I really hope Dyami takes a huge Sophomore leap with a QB that can throw a deep ball. I've been following his YouTube series about his offseason and it really seems like he's putting in the work on his route running. If we finessed the draft and come out of this thing with Sam Howell starting on year 2/3 of his 5th round contract on an absolutely LOADED roster (if he shows promise and we go all in on FAs one offseason)... That's how you catch lightning in a bottle and win a chip. -
So I guess we wait patiently until June 1st for the next wave of potential free agent signings? I'm going to be very very disappointed if Trai Turner is our last pickup. SOMEONE has to wear the green dot on defense. I'm not buying the sudden faith in Holcomb, as much as I love the dude. Landon and a MLB would really put the cherry on top of the offseason so far. Who drafted a MLB that are also tight on cap space and have a relatively expensive MLB that is cuttable? Anyone?

Reports from his pro day was a 39 inch vert and 4.44 40yd dash. Doesn't sound slow to me. Somehow this guy flew under the radar. I'd be interested if we see him as a corner or a safety/BN. Or maybe we see him as primarily a slot corner? There isn't a whole lot of tape on him but the snippits I can find about him are promising. Anyone find anything juicy on this pick?

Sammis Reyes has some very serious competition. Gonna be interesting battles in camp. How many TEs do we keep? Do we keep an extra but consider him a WR and keep 1 less WR on the roster? Cole Turner seems more like a big slot Marques Colston than a TE to me, and seems like he was we plan B to taking Drake London in the 1st. I can see Turner contributing in the Red Zone very early on. Does Logan start the year on PUP/IR? Seems like most if not all wouldn't make it to the practice squad without being poached. Bates is an obvious lock. -
Agreed. I thought all along that the interest in Olave was way too public and obvious. You never telegraph your interest to the other 31 teams like that. In Dotson's 1st day video Ron made the comment "sometimes the less people know the better" And people doubted me and said this FO isn't capable of smoke screens. Olave was a huge one. The plan all along was Drake London or trade down and take Dotson.

Not sure where to post this, but I think we will see 3 WR sets of Terry and Dyami on the outside with Dotson in the slot as our most common alignment. Curtis will be gadget guy and comes in for 4 WR sets.

That's his floor. An elite gunner. Mid-tier ROI is a developmental replacement to McCain. Excellent ROI is starter at FS/Corner hybrid by mid season. I lean towards the latter. If they didn't feel he could contribute right away they would have taken Howell first and tried to scoop him in the 5th. Special teams only players don't typically get drafted in the 4th. I think he will play. -

Knowing what I know about him from guys in Lafayette, I have all the faith in the world the light bulb will go off for him on that type of stuff. Also judging by Ron and Martys high praise at the presser, I have a feeling they expect him to play early and often, and I don't mean just on special teams. -

He's basically a raw Daxton Hill. The 4.36 speed is legit. I'm loving this draft the more articles I read and videos I watch on our guys. We're getting terrible draft grades from the "experts"... So it makes me love it even more.
