    Interesting. I though G Davis would have stepped into that third receiver spot when they let Brown go.

    That’s the thing. I thought his production would go back up with Rivers as he’s a guy who feeds his #1 target. Didn’t pan out that way.

    Someone sell me on Hilton. He’s had a great career, but he’d be a guy we’d be paying for past performance, IMO. He’ll turn 32 next season. This season, he only missed 1 game but only eclipsed 53 yards six times this season. Most of his production was in a four game segment towards the end of the season (4 of his 5 TDs). What am I not seeing in him?

    My wife got her first shot today. We should have our second and then two week waiting period by mid to late April. Planning a celebration. Was thinking about Cinco de Mayo, but 5/5 is a Wednesday. Then I had a great idea, I said let’s celebrate Cinco de Ocho! She had to let me know that actually means fifth of the eight. Whatever. Saturday May 8, it’s about to go down.

    Going to be a tough decision whether to give Allen the tag or Scherff his third tag. Lol. Good thing Doctson helped them out some.

    These receivers need to understand that while the cap will go up in 2022, they will be competing with Godwin, Robinson, D Adams, DJ Clark, Courtland Sutton among others for WR money. Need to keep that in mind when settling for a one year deal.

    I know we need an outside CB more, but I really liked Hilton. Too bad.

    Seems like we played way more snaps with two LBs under JDR than years past. If that continues to be the case, how many LBs do you really need to carry? Can you get by with only five and gain an extra roster spot elsewhere? Also, we had so few snaps at CB outside our top 3. Moreau had some, but after that I can’t think of much more. Ideally, could you have a defense with 9DL, 5LB, and 10DBs with an extra spot on offense?

    Do we know who the receiver is that only wants a one year deal that Russini was talking about? Obviously not Davis. My guess is Smith-Shuster.

    So you’re letting McLaurin walk in two years?

    Nope. It’s just a cap maneuver. Saves them about 7.5M in 2021. All four years of his deal is voidable.

    I just realized today that the tournament will be different this year. The first weekend is Fri-Mon with the “First Four” on Thursday. Glad I didn’t take Thursday off.

    The looked really, really good in early to mid February. Then faded down the stretch. Impressive win today. I like their depth and balance. On another note, these Big 10 and Big 12 teams have been pounding each other all season. That may end up being an advantage over Gonzaga.

    I like Davis too. Think he’s an excellent compliment to McLaurin. Sometimes we look at guys and evaluate them against their draft position. Davis has underperformed for a top 5(?) pick. But he’s really good, has improved, and has been a productive second option which would be his role here. Give me Davis, JSmith, and Anthony Walker. Along with a Darby return and a competent third QB, I’d be happy.

    I’m all for continuity on the line. If a top LT is available in the draft, I’d upgrade there and improve our depth with Lucas as the swing. I wouldn’t address the line in FA this offseason. The problem with Scherff on the tag is how can you have confidence that a LTD gets done now? Didn’t happen last year, didn’t happen prior to the tag deadline this year. Now you don’t get the opportunity for the 2022 RG to get reps this year as the team develops.

    LB Kirksey signed with Houston. Another LB off the table.

    It’s a slippery slope. First everyone has to wear a mask. Then nobody is allowed to make out with their sister. Have to draw the line in sand somewhere.

    I last heard Finlay talk about him maybe a week ago. There’s still question whether or not last season “tolled” for him - Am I using that word correctly? So they don’t even know if he’s a FA or under contract.
