  1. Looks really desperate for the Panthers on the surface, but a lot of these trades have compensation dependent on performance/starting time ect. Give it an hour before you lock in your personal rulings. Glad we dodged one bullet, but this hurts my chances for dodging another chubby one in the draft.
  2. I'm looking at Den, Chi, NE, Car, and Hou. Whichever one is not able to grab a top 5 QB in the draft, since 3 will be going to Jax, NY and SF. It will get to a point where you have to put something on the grill, even if its pork butt. Lets call it the Chi Bears Andy Dalton special.
  3. Minkah Parsons makes you want to take him if he falls due to red flags I don't think you can... but DAYM...
  4. If we brought in a slot WR to primarily play on the outside for 10M yr avg I would be pretty concerned. You don't spend good amounts of money to get a guy to do things other than what he excels in. Samuel has done very well in the slot and he logged 72% of his snaps there last year. Not counting his reps in the backfield, it is where the majority of his reps need to come from. Humphries simply allows us to have a reliable option both when Samuel needs a blow, is lined up in the backfield, or the few packages that require multiple interior WRs. I think the idea that our primary outside WRs being Terry and Curtis is a bit overblown.... outside of madden. That will be rampant there
  5. C. Sims may be the 4/5/6/7 best WR on this team, but due to our roster construction, he is currently our starting outside WR oppo Terry. Samuel, S. Sims, Wright are all slot guys. post injury-Harmon and AGG are our only other real options for outside WRs. We badly need an upgrade on the outside either in FA or the draft. I keep seeing the draft is swimming w/ slot guys, so I would prefer to pick up an outside guy in FA. Bringing in a new slot guy would raise our overall talent and would help, but it feels like letting one of your wings hang on via duct tape so you can add steel to reinforce your rudder. A new outside weapon would be much more impactful. Adding another slot, just to so we can move Samuel around is a bit of access of riches. Especially when you already have S.Sims and Wright, and have dabbled with injecting Gibby and McK at the same spot as well. Or we can address both over time and all is good
  6. There is a big diff between being unused for 2 years and being hurt. Cam Sims has had numerous bouts with injury and was put on IR and had been unavailable as a result. That has nothing to do with coaches. You can chock it up to bad luck, I see it more as poor durability (myriad of issues in college) but its not b/c the coaches did not use him right. Everybody gets injured to some degree, but as a big guy, you would hope his durability would be an attribute, not a deterrent. S.Sims has gotten more yards and he has missed games as well. Wright missed some games and he is still on pace for more by year 3. It happens, you gotta produce in the NFL, and both either have produced or are on pace to produce more than C. Sims has even dealing with injuries. I made no note of practice warrior. In fact I emphasized seeing more on the field product. 500 yds in 3 years is nothing. what good is 166yds/yr At least S.Sims has given us 500+yds in 2 seasons. Its not a tremendous uptick, but it is clearly better. Wright and S.Sims have both given more production in a shorter period of time, despite being in a more competitive position of our squad due to how it is structured. I already said I would prefer to upgrade them as well, but if all things were positional-ly equal, and I did not have the greater need at outside WR, I would easily, happily, quickly and without remorse choose either of those players over C. Sims. S.Sims is clearly better, and Wright is on pace to prove so, but small sample size. The fact they are both younger is just icing on the cake. Any WR we bring in to replace any of them would be a big boon
  7. Stats? Cam Sims barely has 500 yds in 3 years S. Sims has more than that in 2 Isiah Wright is on current pace for 600 after 3 If Cam Sims wants a fan crush he can earn it outside of preseason first. I've seen more out of Wright and S. Sims and I'd like to see them upgraded, let alone C. Sims. Heck, he was a draft pick but even J. Doctson gave you far more by now, more than double C. Sims output. I can't just accept C. Sims makes some kind of God-level jump just to be respectable. He is a primary de-facto contributor on the outside ATM, but that says more about our depth and construction than his skill.
  8. Its one thing to hold out over a team name, its another to hold out over an owner. Unless the owner is in a D. Sterling situation (which Snyder is not) where it is clear an obvious an owner has to go yesterday and a company shows a vested interest in putting pressure to remove said owner, than no business w/ an owner would likely be keen on doing business w/ said company, as tying themselves to them could lead to future threat of your ownership. The NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, any publicly traded companys with a CEO that can be fired, would not want to be financed in any way by a company that has already proven it will try to have you removed from yours in the event things are not to their liking. FedEx would literally be blacklisting themselves to attempt it. Why would any owner/CEO work with a party that would threaten their own ownership? They would not.
  9. Seriously doubt we see any comp picks. Its not just FAs lost but also the size of the contracts. Darby got good money, but between Jackson and Samuel, that more than cancels out. Fitz is making 10 mil on top of that. Even if Kerrigan locks down decent money, I still don't think we get any picks. You still would need a couple of our guys getting picked up (like fabian just was) to sniff a low round comp pick, and that would be ignoring any more moves ourselves.
  10. From a long distance view, paranoid guy clutching the purse strings when there is so much talk of betrayal, backstab and long-gaming is kinda the reasonable outcome. I really don't think its a good look for his departure if the NFL allows this, but dude was not going anywhere anyways. Does not change much, he was only accountable to his sponsors before, he still is now.
  11. Close? Nah, Frankenstein is already there. Like a top 15ish edge in win rate, despite a high double team rate Lead squad in sacks Developing a ridiculous ability to defend passes at the line Great against the run Played all 16 games... twice You can not let that walk. If he keeps improving at the rate he is he will be an elite edge before the end of next year, especially since he is an every down edge and not a specialist. I think your looking at Terry, Chase and Sweat when looking at the must signs.
  12. Paying Mosley, or anybody for that matter, 20 M next year after the player has sat out a year and was injured the year before it would be a very risky gamble. One that should not be met with an upfront investment of day 1 or 2 draft picks. The only way I trade for CJ is if he A: agrees to restructure his contract, making himself very cuttable after the 1st year B: cost only around a 4th this year and a 5th next year The man has basically been out of football for 2 years. While he would be a great reclamation project with high upside, nobody is willing to pay 20 M for a rec project let alone give up real assets to do it. I also don't see CJ wanting to take that pay cut. As long as he sits on his hands, he has massive paychecks coming from the Jets, and much of it is G money.
  13. Criminal charges don't matter, its the optics. The NFL also does not need criminal charges to take action against their own, and at the very least we are getting to the point where we can expect something from the NFL offices in the future in the way of a suspension after this moves through future process. Lucky this is the offseason as there is no way they would let Watson step on the field under this kind of cloud. Like I said, cant assume guilt so nothing happens until something is proven. Then your looking at the walls falling in. If nothing is proven, or this does not get worse and everyone settles, this will blow over. In any case, due to the severity of these charges, I don't see any team giving up assets to bring him in before this is resolved. ala reuban foster If he is cut... maybe... but no way is a trade happening. Any teams equivalent of Jason Wright would kill the lead football guy via open field hitstick the second they leave their office if such a move were to occur. No team is giving up assets to risk their sponsors for a QB or anything. We didn't even risk our team name.
  14. Negative, un-tradable and untouchable ATM This coming from the guy who wanted to go after him when I saw an angle in-season. No self respecting org would dare bring in that kind of scandal. You would risk losing so many sponsors its not even funny. Even to get a cheap franchise QB. You honestly need to prepare that Watson wont be available to play at all for the near and long term future (due to suspensions) which is why Hou all of a sudden needs to load up on QBs That being said you cant just assume guilt, no matter how bad it looks, and If you need a long term fix at QB, you should still be quietly eyeballing this situation b/c even if this does blow over, Watson's stock has taken a megaton hit. A trade won't happen until this whole thing is done and I cant see that happening any time soon tho. Honestly the more plausible scenario, if this thing get worse, I'd start looking to see if Hou cuts bait and just releases him. If there is any certifiable truths to some of the more serious of these allegations, you cant have him linked to your org. If they can prove these things happened, he wont get traded, he will get virtually kicked from the NFL.
  15. Having 2 Fullers would make things a nightmare to listen to on radio. Like when we had Washington at LB. Its the smallest thing but it so irritating when you don't know who makes a tackle/play. It would be worth it for the quality of play tho
  16. I'd agree just on the fact that it could not get much worse. If Quinn gets his players to actually chase guys instead of watching OBJs run wild 20 yards behind the LOS, you'll see an improvement in overall D. With no real additions to the D talent however, its not like they will be good. Combined with a O that will put up points, you have a recipe for another year where that D is hung out to dry by facing Os that know they need to be in attack mode.
  17. massive depth flexabilty w/ Samuel in the fold. Seeing our O attempting to function w/o Gibby was hard to watch last year. Now we have a bit of flex if he has to miss a game or two.
  18. Sticky man coverage corner is such a nice fit for this roster. Really helps prevent the dink and dunk to avoid our pass rush. As much as I like the player, the fit seems even better. CB is certainly one of the positions I would have been cool w/ a reclamation project given our D-line, but I wont complain about getting a quality guy. We still have several holes to fill, but the roster is rounding out quite nicely. WR has to be soon.
  19. If anyone want to contribute to the feed Football Zombie fund, feel free to play the drinking game whenever you hear "Fitzpatrick went to Harvard" I'll be there in 30 mins to collect.
  20. If most of that 12 M for Winston is in incentives that would be a mind-numbingly bad contract for him to take. There are several teams that would have given him a multi-year deal with more in the way of insured money. Seriously, there is betting on yourself and then there is challenging the grim reaper to an arm wrestling match. Winston had a better set up than anybody to lock down a nice chunk of G money this offseason. Dude is letting it all ride to get in on that 2022 expanded cap. I'm shocked he re-upped. They lost/cut so many players including his leading WR, TE and Olinemen. I hope Kamara's knees are ready cuz that dude is going to have to carry some serious weight. I'm not confident enough in Winston's ability to say he shouldn't have taken the money in front of him. Can't say he lacks confidence now. props to the saints for reeling him back in, even after he got to talk to other teams which is the most amazing part. They might have to move someone else b/c of this tho.
