  1. The draft will wriggle a few of those guys loose as players become more expendable when their cheap replacements hit the roster. Maybe we could absorb a guy
  2. Would have been beyond stupid not to be one of those eight teams at the time. Just confirms what a lot of us already knew.
  3. Be hard pressed to get more than a 3rd from me. Unless we move Brandon that would be absorbing a lot of cash in a very short amount of time plus Julio will hold out next year to rework his deal for more money if he even remotely performs. ATL caved every time on that front
  4. If I'm jumping up in that case its for Sewell
  5. Upside If Mac pans out, He'll be a good/great QB. With the traits Lance has, he can be an elite QB "IF" he pans out. As a prospect, he just gives you so much that Mac simply cant. That being said Lance certainly has risks and a steeper curve to climb. Mac is almost certainly more ready to contribute right away. Usually if your picking at the top of the draft you want a guy with the potential to be special, but the 9ers are on the clock w/ their D being so good when healthy. Kinda like a year or two ahead of where we are.
  6. As much sense as that makes... I just cant see it in today's environment. First round QBs play in year one, almost always. How much pressure will the 3rd pick face to play when he didn't just cost 1 high draft pick but several. Giving up all that capital for a guy who will most likely of all top QBs need to ride the pine for a year? Almost a waste. He is way better than Mac, but Mac is certainly more of a win now candidate. Plus it ensures we don't get mac, so I'll happily push the narrative.
  7. Dear God what are they not putting in the water in Pittsburgh 4.9! 5.5! You can pull a guy out of the stands to put up those numbers. That is embarrassing. Maybe they are putting something in the water... Lead Its so bad, I gotta half chalk it up to the no combine inverse effect. We were so used to getting unofficial 4.3s and 4.4s, that it makes sense that the pendulum would swing the other way as well. But still... Woof. Zombies would have a feast against that lack of speed. Nothing but sweet open field takedowns.
  8. So I take it your afternoon is open? I can see whoever misses out on a QB trading for him after Rd 1, but hard pressed to give up assets before then. Unless CAR is willing to accept the lint in someone's pockets. He will be most valuable after the draft.
  9. Most effective if done beforehand. It allows the more influencial players (i.e. the uncuttable ones) to provide shelter for the fringe roster players, who may have desired to not attend, but would have due to their unsecured status. Strengthens the brotherhood as all the players are looking out for one another. By presenting it in this manner, no one has pressure to show. Takes the majority of power out of the teams hands and gives it to the players. Seriously doubt this is the last team/instance to do something like this. This will go down accross the NFL. In the same manner you could not force MLB players to be warded off from their families for an full length MLB season, you can't ask an NFL player to ward himself off from his familiy just to attend a "voluntary" workout. There are people that have comprimised immunne systems all over the world. We had one at Head Coach last year. There are people that are unable to recieve vaccinations due to medical conditions. Others are straight up allergic. Kids cant get vaccines yet. Stuff like that is exactly why the NFLPA even exsists. When there is actual money to be made, things will be more heated, but right now this is railroaded in favor of the NFLPA.
  10. Its gonna be a while before he can do anything other than "monster go get football" in goal-line situations. I'm cool w/ him as a TE3, learning the ropes and growing over time, but I'd have no expectations that this guy can develop even decent blocking, alignment and recognition skills needed to pick up heat in a live game anytime soon. Switching protections, handing off rushers, there are guys with years in the league that struggle with that stuff. I like that. If he can contribute there, he has a great opportunity to hang around and learn. I'm pulling for em
  11. Whelp, that is a nice piece of clay at TE right there. Coach em up, and see what he can do. Gonna be a multi-year project though. Routes, Blocking, Technique... he has to learn it all. 1- Don't we get a free roster spot for these international guys? 2-Imagine what this guy can look like w/ an NFL an weight program. If he makes it to year 2 he might not fit in pads
  12. McK does not weigh 200 lbs. He is not built to take any kind of sizable role in the rushing game. If he is forced to, there is a good chance he breaks. He can give you 80 attempts across a season, but he can't walk out there and give you 15 rushes in a single game. Never has in his career and its not fair to expect him to be able too. Gibby is tasked with being the lead back and contribute extra touches in the passing game. That is a lot of punishment for a guy who has never had to put that kind of load on his body, with only a smattering of rush attempts in college. His body is not trained to handle that level of destruction. and it showed over the course of the season. He will be a little better prepared for it this year, as his body adjusts to the rigors, but even expecting him to be perfectly fine with 250 touches next year is pushing it. That puts a lot of responsibility on the third back. Its why Barber got over 90 rushes last year. there is no way Gibson and McK can handle that many rush attempts and contribute extra touches in the passing game. That third guy has to give you 100 rushes, especially with a longer season. A bellcow can do that. It may not be the biggest need, but it is a need
  13. Gibby is great and this is not an attempt to replace him, just support him. Takes a bit of the load off of him. Due to his own quality and versatility, he is pretty much looking at a 2019 CMC level workload if something is not done to alleviate the pressure. As we saw what he was over the season, his touches spiked. We don't have a guy behind him who is durable enough (McK) or good enough (Barber) to fill in for him when he has to miss spot time. No man can reliably take that level of punishment and the little injuries you get along the way eventually catch up. I think the behind LOS stuff w/ Samuel will help, but hard to say how much. Replacing Barber with a back that can both be a short yardage back, while still being able to be a bellcow when needed would be big for our O as it helps ensure Gibby's health over the long haul. Also allows you to a lot more off ball things with Gibby, which does not require him to take a hit while still effecting the D is some way. Gibby is an insane talent and you want to get the ball in his hands a bunch of times a game... just not too many times. Aside from D Henry, the days of a one back carry are pretty much gone, especially moving on to a 17 game season. RB is possibly the most violent position in the sport. Gotta have that second viable back.
  14. I get the no RB argument at the top of the draft, but 19 is far enough where you can take a guy Getting a bellcow back that you can put some real faith into fits well on this team. It would also provide the luxury of putting Gibson out there for both KR and PR as he did both in Memphis, something they wont do as long as we don't have that force like Najee to fall back on. We currently don't have that guy that is either durable enough, or good enough to provide real push in the run game behind Gibby. We are probably eyeballing RBs of Najee's ilk so we could totally pick up someone like him in the draft. That is a big time need Najee is special and more than deserving to be 19
  15. final roster, probably, but that still leaves you with five guys that played consistent reps there last season. I think we pick up a WR in the draft too, but I'd be pretty confident that one of the leading skills they will be looking for is KR ability or projects well to contribute on STs like Terry.
  16. I'm pretty sure Logan led all NFL TEs in slot receptions. McK can flex out and give you reps there easy as can Gibby. There is depth and then there is the Marianas Trench If you give peanuts, then it don't matter tho
  17. He can be a quality complementary piece of a offense, but I don't know why on this planet we should look to add more slot WRs (Miller took 86% of his snaps in the slot) Samuel Humphries Sims Jr Wright Miller? Giving up assets for a quality slot WR would be like giving up assets for a quality DT at this point. When you can fill out those two positions with Allen, Payne, Settle, Io and Brantley you'd be ignoring other parts of your team that could benefit more from a talent influx. Unless the idea is to convert someone to an outside WR, which would seem silly, I don't see the need to give up assets for Miller.
  18. Feels like a J Clowney situation from last year. Man has a price and he is trying his hardest to stick to it. Barring injuries to key players, no one seems willing to go there.
  19. This is why you cant run around as an organization with your poker hands pointed towards the other players. We saw it happen with the Bears, and now the Panthers. They were so busy letting their own fanbase know of their effort to upgrade at QB, they threw away their own leverage and now have to sell below replacement level QBs to a fanbase that was dreaming of bringing in someone elite. Gotta have professionalism in a front office. At the very least, it severely lowers the sting of failure. It sucks not having the inside scoop on what your team is angling, but it is absolutely the right way to go. How long until the Darnold QB1 tweet.
  20. I won't. Even for a Zombie, That possibility would have been tough to swallow. (Zombie Pun)
