  1. Some decent info here that I didn't know... Everything You’re Entitled to if Your Flight Gets Canceled or Delayed 2024 has already proven to be a precarious year for airplane travel. In addition to regular snafus, like flight delays and trip cancellations, the Boeing 737 Max 9 fuselage blowout has left travelers feeling a little uneasy. That’s why, now more than ever, it’s especially important to know your rights as you navigate the friendly skies. While it might feel like we’re staring down a summer full of mass travel holidays and endless airport crowds, know that you're not entirely powerless. In fact, you can now get much more than a $10 voucher for a sad airport salad whenever cancellations, overbooked legs, and excessive delays screw up your travel plans. Here’s what the airlines aren’t telling you, and what actions you can take to receive compensation for delayed or canceled flights. https://www.thrillist.com/travel/nation/airline-secrets-tips-and-tricks
  2. The Florida Senate Banned Heat Protections for Farmworkers, but a Groundbreaking Partnership Could Provide a Solution Ahead of record-breaking summer temperatures, the Fair Food Program — a major partnership between retailers, farmers, and farmworkers — offers the nation’s strongest protocols for keeping workers safe Earlier this month, Florida’s Senate passed a bill banning local jurisdictions from passing measures protecting workers from heat exposure, the latest of a series of draconian laws targeting immigrants and workers in Florida. This bill, which awaits the approval of governor Ron DeSantis, prohibits governments from requiring that employers provide water, shade, and breaks to workers—relatively small measures that can mean the difference between life and death for workers laboring under Florida’s hot sun. This law precedes what is expected to be another record-breaking summer of extreme heat. “It’s morally repulsive, and it will kill farmworkers,” said Erik Nicholson, a farmworker advocate and the former vice president of United Farm Workers. “I have accompanied the families of too many farmworkers who have needlessly died due to heat stress.” But Nicholson also highlighted the promise of another avenue to bring strong heat standards to Florida farms: The Fair Food Program (FFP), a groundbreaking partnership between retailers, farmers, and farmworkers that has implemented the strongest, legally binding heat protocols in the nation on Florida’s farms, while bypassing the state’s Republican-controlled legislature. https://www.eater.com/24122092/florida-ban-farmworker-extreme-heat-protections-fair-food-program-offers-solution-climate

  5. I had just started working for a software company in Atlanta (King & Queen towers) in March. We were at a restaurant for lunch when the verdict was announced. The place was packed with people & the reactions were amazing: disbelief, anger, cheers, high fives.

  7. Seems to me this might be wishful thinking. I haven't seen a due date for the paperwork & proof they can actually pay the $175M. Letitia James to Begin Claiming Donald Trump's Properties: Lawyer An insurance company will not be permitted to post a $175 million bond for Donald Trump while he appeals a fraud judgment, a former federal prosecutor has said. Eric Lisann was reacting to a separate comment by another lawyer, Dave Kingman, who wrote that Knight Specialty Insurance will not be able to post the bond for Trump. Kingman wrote that, as a result, New York Attorney General Letitia James will be able to begin enforcement proceedings on Donald Trump's properties. A New York court has rejected Knight Specialty's paperwork and said it wanted to see more information on its financial backing. The company filed new paperwork on April 4. https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-bond-new-york-fraud-trial-letitia-james-attorney-general-arthur-engoron-1887833
