  1. Yeah, I need to see the details on how this. A quick look at Middlesex County (Deltaville, VA on the bay) has PP tax revenue of $19.9M with only $170K in sales & use tax (I'm assuming this is what is being increased .09%). That's just not going to happen. Here's where I pulled these numbers: https://www.co.middlesex.va.us/DocumentCenter/View/1933/ADOPTED-Revenue-June-7-20222?bidId= Edit: And it's a solid red district.
  2. That will be a huge hit to some of the bay/river counties that collect PP tax on boats and counties with municipal airports as they'll lose the PP tax on planes. People with river/bay homes in cheaper counties register their cars in those counties to pay less tax.
  3. So is he talking about 'Personal Property Tax' or only the tax if you own a car? Personal Property tax is a county tax with different rates by county. Edit: I just read the article & see he mentions only the 'auto' portion of personal property tax. So each county will need to make up their current amount collected in the new .09% increase in sales tax. I'd like to see current car tax/sales tax collected by county for the past 4-5 years to see if that's possible for some of the less populated counties.
  4. Judge orders Rep. Scott Perry to disclose 1,600 messages to federal prosecutors A federal judge ruled Tuesday that Rep. Scott Perry must disclose to federal prosecutors more than 1,600 emails, text messages and other communications related to the investigation into Donald Trump and his allies’ bid to subvert the 2020 election. Chief U.S. District Judge James Boasberg concluded that the vast majority of the messages Perry exchanged — some with other members of Congress, some with members of the Trump administration and some with allies outside of government — could not be shielded from prosecutors by Perry’s constitutional protections as a member of Congress. Rather, Boasberg concluded, the 1,659 exchanges had little to do with Perry’s job as a legislator and therefore were not subject to the Constitution’s “speech or debate” clause, which prohibits prosecutors and courts from prying into the official business of Congress. The records in question could help fill crucial gaps in special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation. An inadvertently disclosed court document obtained last month by POLITICO revealed key aspects of the messages Perry had sought to shield from Smith’s team, including exchanges with Trump’s alleged co-conspirators in the effort to disrupt the transfer of power. The messages showed Perry as a crucial go-between for Trump and his allies on key aspects of their effort in the final frantic weeks of Trump’s presidency. https://www.yahoo.com/news/judge-orders-rep-scott-perry-034605605.html

  6. Thanks for the info. He has a FFEL loan. I already told him to expect to spend a lot of time tracking down the process to get the loans forgiven. I really appreciate your help!
  7. I really appreciate the info. Yes, I saw on his account that he applied for PLSF and consolidated the loans in September 2023. The bolded part was something I wasn't aware of and I know my son doesn't know. But it explains how my brothers son-in-law got his debt relieved about a month ago after the SIL 10 years in the gov't. Thanks again for the info...
  8. My son has student loans with Mohela. I haven't been involved with the entire process. So I'm pretty much in the dark as to what has/hasn't occurred. I do know the loans have been ****ed up since his repayments started ~2014. I don't know the details but he was late getting his payments started due to miscommunication (his words) from Mohela. At the time he started the payments, he had already bought a house and had decent credit. But his credit was destroyed by the non-payments that Mohela filed hit his credit score. Since then (and prior to Covid), he's made timely payments & kind of fixed his credit score (this is minor issue compared to the loan debacle). With the re-instatement of payments post-Covid his monthly payment has tripled. I looked at his Mohela account & it's as if he's never made 1 payment. There's no history of payments and his balance is essentially the beginning loan balance. In addition, it shows the consolidated loan has 284 payments starting 11/2/23 that need to be made to pay it off. He has almost 10 years of County work. I don't know all of the details about the forgiveness, especially with the Covid payment suspension, but he should be close to meeting the requirements. My son told me the criteria is you have to make 120 payments with 10 years gov't service to get the loans wiped out but I'm not sure this is 100% accurate since payments were suspend for Covid. I read that Mohela is being sued by borrowers for mismanagement of loans but I'm unsure how/if that impacts him. https://www.businessinsider.com/student-loan-borrowers-sue-mohela-delay-public-service-debt-forgiveness-2023-12 Does anyone know if there is an independent agency to assess his Mohela loans? Any other advice to figure out WTF is going on with his loans?
  9. I think the terms of Chesbro's cooperation deal should be made public (maybe they have & I haven't seen them). Trump campaign lawyer testified in Nevada fake electors case to avoid prosecution, transcripts show LAS VEGAS (AP) — The lawyer who helped orchestrate the Trump campaign's fake elector scheme in 2020 was a target in a criminal investigation in Nevada, but his name was removed from the indictment in exchange for his cooperation with authorities, according to newly released transcripts of secret grand jury proceedings in Las Vegas. The documents made public Sunday show that in late November, Kenneth Chesebro testified to a grand jury in Clark County, Nevada, about the plot that ultimately led to the indictments this month of six Nevada Republicans, who made a last-ditch attempt to keep then-President Donald Trump in power by sending a phony electoral certificate to the National Archives. The fake electors — involved in the GOP at the state or county level — are charged in state court with offering a false instrument for filing and uttering a forged instrument. Chesebro's deal with state Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford's office, which investigated the case, comes on the heels of Chesebro's plea agreement with prosecutors in Georgia, where he was charged alongside Trump and 17 others with participating in efforts to overturn Trump’s 2020 loss in Georgia. https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-lawyer-testified-nevada-fake-021547049.html
  10. My wife volunteered at the RVA Christmas Mother* a couple of days a week over the past 3-4 weeks. The last day (where they hand out clothing, toys, etc.) was last Thursday. My wife's friend called her Sunday & said that 14 volunteers who worked on Thursday tested positive for Covid. Not sure how many people volunteered on that day or the actual total number of people who tested positive. Wife had a runny nose yesterday but tested negative. We're up to date on all the shots. *https://richmond.com/exclusive/christmas-mother/
