  1. Gets: 5 Comms: 3 They win thanks to a last minute safety in yet another botched punt from the new guy that replaces Cheese.
  2. Two words: garbage time. Game was already decided when Brisset entered.
  3. I get your point. But can you remember any SB winner with a terrible O-line?
  4. It's been a disaster, I agree. But great linemen are a rarity, just as stud QBs. Start with the best tackle you can draft and go from there.
  5. Well, the reality is that these "serviceable" linemen are not enough in today's NFL. We need the best of the best protecting the QB. We have been incredibly lucky with Howell's health. But that luck can evaporate in a nanosecond if he keeps getting hit at this pace.
  6. We are less than a handful of sacks away from having our WORST season ever in sacks allowed. That's not hyperbole. That's fact. Let that sink in. Worse than the Zorn era, worse than Heath Shuller era, worse than every season with The Dany around here, worse than the putrid last Shannahan season. This is one of those times when OL-specific needs outweight everything else. It's not even a discussion.
  7. Howell is much better than those guys. His stats are inflated but he's legit. With a better O-line and a committed running game he'll be elite. We need to bolster O-line NOW.
  8. Hate the Verizon Friends and Family plan. I'm parcial to the Burger King Family Bundle Deal. But I digress... What the hell is "influence blocking"??? 😳
  9. The beggining of what, bro? A complete house cleaning? And no relevant O-linemen were added after stalwarths Trent Williams and Sherf left via free agency. We made ZERO effort to replace them with guys of their same caliber, or at least drafting their replacements.
  10. /Bump If we allow three sacks this week against the Rams, this team will have tied a franchise-worst 61 sacks allowed in a season. The previous worst was the '98 O-line. What the heck happened? Are we really THAT bad?
  11. We know bye weeks are not really our thing. We tend to come out flaccid and sluggish. This will be one of those games. Lambs - 38 Comms - 17
  12. Great player. Reading the news it seems he struggled with brain issues, like so many other NFL pros. Very sad indeed.
  13. That's the same mentality that landed us four D-linemen that never lived up to their expectations of a formidable defense. None of them were bad by any means when they played together, just a luxury for our current unbalanced team. Two of them (the ones we still have) are very good, no doubt. But did we need four of them? Reality has spoken. I think it's time to invest heavily on the O-line and go from there since we already have a young and competent QB.
  14. What's the infatuation with BB, friend? I know our OC is looking for the next Kelce-type TE but we have much more pressing needs at OL.
  15. Oh yes. Marty's tenure was even more notable considering the absolute sh*t storm El Dano had created the season before with the Turner/Robiskie fiasco. Jeff George's presence didn't help either, hand picked by the boy-owner. I still find it amazing Marty basically ejected George within the first two weeks of the 2001 season after two disastrous loses and even worse attitude. Hard to fathom I was happy to see Tony Banks. I just KNEW we would pound the ball with Stephen Davis again and again (that was his season with most yards here) and Banks was there to keep the opposing D honest. We had some identity. At the very least.
  16. That's a great point. If there ever was a time to do a hard reset it's at the end of THIS season. Marty cleaned house with the roster he received from the previous coach and he actually showed good advances in the final third of the season. Sadly El Dano put the kibosh on that before any fruits were reaped. Weird times. But the Marty example does show you a franchise can dramatically improve from one season to the next if the owner selects a good GM. It was Marty ball or nothing. Run run run and the occassional long pass. Stout defense. A winning formula even in today's NFL, IMO. I have HUGE expectations Harris will eliminate the pestilence from the previous regime in a swift manner. That includes the coach and a lot of players and maybe even a different name for the beloved team.
  17. We are #1 in total yards passing BECAUSE we are dead last in defense. There's a causal relation right there. Howell's Yards/Attempt are middle-of-the pack (6.9), very far from Brock Purdy's impressive 9.4 average. If the NFL has taught me anything in the lat 40 years is that QBs with lots of yards rarely win anything in this league. You need balance. We don't have it. The Capital of Latin America: 70 The Capital of the USA: 21
  18. Since we almost always choke on big games I'm 99% sure this will be an L. But I'm always optimistic we beat Dallas. I can't stand them and will never sit on a table with a Cowboys fan. Happy turkey day. Normal work day over here. So maybe I'll open a can of cranberry jam and slader it on my turkey sandwich for y'all.
  19. Dude is clearly just holding the ship before stepping down.
