  1. I highly doubt that, bro. Sam is RR project. Always will be. The new regime wants to start fresh. We all saw what El Dano did with Brad Johnson when he took full reins of the team. Brad and Co. were coming of a very good season statiscally. He was the real deal and everyone knew it, including every other team in the NFL. That's what I mean by politics. You just can't assume these guys are blank sheets of paper and will suddenly forget their loyalty to their former coach.
  2. Politics. We all know this place would become unlivable with Sam and the new QB. We need to start from clean slate and dump any/all guys from the past. Or better yet: trade the guys who actually have some value (T-Mac, Payne, etc)
  3. You're right bro, I can't vouch for Howell anymore. Having said that, the wise thing to do is draft Maye and wait for a couple of rounds and draft ANOTHER guy like Shanny did with RGIII and Cousins. We need that security blanket.
  4. This looks like a sure-fire lock if there ever was any. For the first time in my life I'm thinking about betting against WSH just as revenge for all the unwanted stress they given me LOL
  5. Dallas has a lot to play for. I think they win out and take the division (I think I puked a little in my mouth after writing that)
  6. I don't know man, that Brisset injury came out of nowhere. Ron has stated his legacy here, if any, would be establishing a starting QB. I'm thinking he's willing to make everyone a believer.
  7. This reeks of another mismanagement by Ron. At this juncture it looks like he wants to show the world he's right on Howell, the real-deal QB. Brisset has looked better than Howell. Maybe he just doesn't want his boy to be upstaged?
  8. I completely agree with ALL that you said, man. That's why this whole QB change is so confusing. If RR and EB would have wanted to win they would have tailored the playbook as they did for Brisset. It's like night and day. It looks like the first half of the season was just an exam to see if Howell was the answer for a long-term QB. Clearly it wasn't since we fell out of competition for the playoffs. That examination was brutal. No concessions were given to Howell. None. A sort of trial by fire. And thus we have Brisset now.
  9. I can't stand behind that logic, bro. Everyone knew the Oline was not our strong point coming into the season. Why force Howell to throw 40+ passes a game and expose our weakest unit? To see what he can do in extreme circumstances? Makes no sense whatsoever. Brisset has looked BETTER than Howell. One can only imagine how the season would have panned out if he took the job instead of Howell.
  10. He turned out to be a very bad personnel evaluator. Like historically bad. Yet, he won the biggest game of all: his own battle against cancer. Can't argue with that in the big picture.
  11. Well, you guys convinced me. As much of a LT fan I am, I can't see a new GM of a new regime drafting a lineman and rolling the dice yet again with a journeyman QB and an inconsistent Howell. There's too much on the line. The new FO needs to make its point heard. That will only be made clear with a deep house clean and new QB.
  12. If I'm Ron I see that as a win-win. See the owner at 09:00, get fired and cash a bunch of $$$ by 10:00, say goodbye to the guys at Redskins Park at 11:00, early date at 13:00 with the wife and get a "special present" at 16:00. Media would spin it another way, though. But they could spin the firing on Ron another day as a "humiliation" when no one else is getting fired. Like "see what's happening in Washington! Ron just got fired!". Best choice is firing him with the rest of dregs on black Monday. It'll get a footnote on most newspapers that and next day.
  13. Oh no RR really did it! But don't fear my fellow masochists, if Brisset pulls the upset this will only cement Ron's inability to spot good talent. He rolled the dice with Howell and turns out it was WRONG decision. How on Earth can you not see the other guy is better when QB is the most important spot on your team? HOW? The season should have started out IN REVERSE: start Brisset until you get a good evaluation of his ceiling. THEN hand over the reins to Howell. Otherwise it just looks like you've given up on your boy!
  14. The game was out of reach for SF before their backup QB entered the game late. That final score is really not the best representation of this particular game. But anyhow, SF is loaded and just ready to beat the snot of mediocre teams like us.
  15. Yes, but the physcallity of those older defenses has never been repeated. Even today speedy receivers that are punished by good LB start to avoid the middle of the field, just like the 80s and 90s teams built around the WCO.
  16. As some have said it's impossible to do this type of comparisons. But having seen the '85 Bears and the '91 Eagles I have no doubt they would pose some serious trouble for most modern offenses. Main reason (besides laxer PI rules) would be LB play. Both teams were loaded on the front seven. Yeah maybe modern teams would keep them honest with some deep routes here and there but the brutality of the front seven would be a mayor PIA today. Redskins '91 team actually applied this same aggressive attitude with its front seven to the very good Buffalo offense in the '92 SB. Their receivers were being popped in the middle by our LBs on practically every play, as well as their RBs. Constant pressure on Kelly up front sealed the day. '85 Bears and '91 Eagles are the blueprint of most defenses of the modern era, including the Ray Lewis-led Ravens. They were that good and were a joy to watch.
  17. SF will be out for revenge after their huge loss on primetime. They lost bad against BAL. They were really exposed on D. Now they'll just dismantle us to show they are still top dog in the NFC. Niners - 49 Manders - 17 (28 if Brisset starts)
  18. That would be awesome indeed. Selecting a top-caliber QB that starts right away. If Drake lands here then let the best man win. Everything points to a rebuilding season anyway.
  19. You're right VoR, much to my chagrin. The last two games have made it easy for the new regime to select a QB. That O-line won't fix itself, though. I'm sensing they ship Howell and keep Brisset after drafting a new stud QB. Brisset starts the first 8 games and then lends the O to the new kid.
  20. I know, it's just the "vibe" bro. His feet movement is pure silk. Trading down would seem like a wise choice, but Fashanu won't make it past #5. He's that good.
  21. What you worry? LOL We ain't running no more baby, it's pass pass pass all day
  22. He ain't as smooth as Fashanu. If we draft an O-lineman it HAS to be Fashanu. We're talking Jonathan Ogden level here.
  23. Perceived value is what made RR and Co. draft like 12 consecutive DE with the high picks we've had in his regime LOL The reality speaks for itself. We did NOT need these guys and traded or let some some of them walk. I sense your not sold either on drafting a superlative lineman even though it's a huge need on this team, eh?
  24. Please please just cut the crap and draft Fashanu. He's a game changer. That guy WILL change for the better our entire O-line.
