No Alt or Fashanu sends the wrong message to the hypothetical rook. "Yeah you know we took you to be our our savior. Do you magic with our crappy O-line".
-
Your logic is sound, bro. I get it. I'm just stressing that our O-line was historically bad last season. It needs a HUGE revamp that starts with young triple A players. Why bring a shiny rookie QB if you can't even keep him upright? The new FO has a great challenge. It needs to both start with a bang and convince the fans they know what the heck they are doing and that starts this year's draft and the O-line.

We'll just to have to differ on that one, friend. Both of those tackles WILL be taken very high up in the draft. They are elite and are "safe picks". Most draft experts say so. Any two of those guys (Alt or Fashanu) will be NFL stalwarts for years. Our QB draft record is terrible. We've drafted just one decent to very good QB here in the past 20+ years (Cousins) and he was more of an "insurance" if RG3 imploded (he did). I have to stress that we allowed the most sacks ever in franchise history last season.

Pray? You know you're in Redskins land when the draft conversation has been monopolized by QB talk. By now everyone knows we'll land a shinny QB with our 1st pick. I understand the urgency to catch an immediate starter with the draft pick. The FO has no choice, given the pressure from the fans. But that's not necessarily the right thing to do. There are TWO guys that are generational talents (Alt and Fashanu) that would be plug-and-play for us. We sorely need at least one of them. We should take one of them and start from there. Drafting an elite QB has become a game of roulette.

Terrible news. I wish him the best. A Redskins great, no doubt. I fondly remember a good amount of fun games with Sellers as FB and Stephen Davis barreling down opposing defenses. That rushing attack was superb. Also, Sellers was a very good pass-catcher.

Older NFL Films like this one were filmed with 35mm cameras at 24fps, like the movies. That's why they look so "legendary". It's their staple. The cadence of the players moving looks different than reality. All TV cameras used today in live transmissions work at 60fps (older TV broadcasts were transmitted at 30fps). That's why old NFL Films look so different.

Fields is good bc of DJ Moore. He can dismantle an entire defensive plan by himself (96 rec., 1,360 yards, 8TDs, avg. 14.2 ypc) And their TE Kmet had 75 receptions last year for 700 yards. Those are numbers we can only dream of with our current roster. We have zero WRs and TEs in that mold (Terry can't dominate a game like Moore. We all saw that last year) :[

More like a huge mistake. KC leaving was a byproduct the power struggle between Scot McCloughan and Bruce Allen. We all know how that turned out. Bruce backed RGIII, hand-picked by Snyder. Scot wanted to pay big bucks to KC bc the guy had demonstrated he was good to very good at QB. Arguably, KC went on to have a better career than RGIII. In retrospect, yet another mistake by our FO guys.

I still can't believe we hired a guy named "Dan Quinn"
-
I said it from the start: we needed to be the FIRST team to hire a new HC. The new GM should have had the new HC ready and on his speed-dial. That's his job! To know people in the NFL who work as HC! Now the situation is quickly becoming a PR fiasco. The guy from Detroit said FU and now we're SOL? A good GM should have planned for that and immediatly moved to his second option BEFORE the guy from Detroit talked to the media. This is PR 101. Otherwise you end up looking like a chump.

I doubt the new FO is willing to make the fans suffer through yet another terrible season. These guys need to come out swinging. That means drafting the best possible QB and #2. No fancy trades. Just draft a guy to build the roster around. I think most fans would be very happy with than simple logic, since we'll get to see the future NOW. Elite talent, as you say, is a very difficult thing to find at the QB level. There's huge error rate. But, again, the expectations around this new FO have grown so high they "cannot not" deliver a small ray of hope, at the very least.
-
You really had to go there huh? LOL As much as people pile on TH for his weak arm and dubious decision making he at least had the intangibles we see in Purdy. These guys can literally change the game in a heartbeat, sometimes for the bad. But hey, we preferred Howell and shipped TH due to fan derision. Another RR victim, if you ask me.

Guess we'll find out in just a little while. We rarely ever see new regimes keep QBs who were hand-picked and publicly defended by a previous HC. It's just not the way NFL teams operate. On paper keeping Howell sounds logical. In practice you'll have a divided locker room. And yes, I'm pretty sure the new FO is thinking of salting the Earth. The Snyder stench is so toxic it's an absolute necessity. If that means shipping and cutting a large number of players so be it.
