  1. I think the Iggles will overlook the 'manders and lose, making Tugboat Ron look like US Navy Atlantic Fleet Ron. Look at the Iggles' schedule: at Washington 3-4 DALLAS 5-2 at Kansas City 6-1 BUFFALO 4-3 SAN FRAN 5-2 at Dallas 5-2 at Seattle 4-3
  2. In 1991, Mark Rypien looked like the second coming of Sammy Baugh because he was only sacked 7 times all year. Team finished 14-2 and I think won the Superb Owl. In 1992, Mark Rypien looked like the second coming of Sammy Davis Jr. as he took 23 sacks and threw LOTS of balls away to avoid sacks. Team finished 9-7 and got bounced in the second round. It's all about that O line.
  3. Anyone tracking the game balls that Tugboat Ron has been giving out? I know he gave out three game balls to Harris...after two wins. Not sure about the math there, but it seems off.
  4. And people wonder why Bienemy hasn't been offered a head coaching position? What does that even mean? 🤨 Funny thing is when the 'manders beat the Eagles next week (who are going to be looking past this game to the Cowboys-Chiefs-Bills-49ers-Cowboys-Seahawks stretch coming up), everyone will be talking about what a great coach RR is. 🥱
  5. Was it over after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? On another note, I don't think the Cardinals have been eligible to be a threat in the playoffs since 1947. I don't think people should be piling on EB so much. He doesn't have the personnel he had in KC, but more importantly how can any of his schemes work when the QB is running for his life on every play? They're over 40 sacks already this season and on pace for 98... If this keeps up, Howell is going to become gun-shy and start suffering from phantom sacks like Jim "Chris Evert" Everett and Chris "Crystal Chandelier" Chandler.
  6. Code Burgundy? Sorry, I was thinking about the uniforms we'll probably be wearing in a few weeks...
  7. Say goodbye to the Dodgers' pitching and hitting coaches. Other than that, I'm sure they played fine! 😄
  8. Rivera can't be Jeff Fisher, because he can't go 7-9 every year like Fisher. The 17-game schedule won't allow that. 😆
  9. Yup, and Lombardi remains the best example of that. None of those future HOF players (Starr, Hornung, Nitschke, Adderley, Gregg, etc.) were even drafted by him. The previous regime which included a coach who went 1-10-1 (as a newspaper said they "overwhelmed one opponent, underwhelmed ten, and whelmed one") drafted most of those guys between 1955-58...it took a guy like Lombardi to turn them into winners.
  10. Gone Rivera. Unless, of course, we beat the Falcons. Which I think we will. Then this thread will go quiet until the next big loss.
  11. It also speaks volumes about what Chase's teammates think of him too. I don't think it's a coach's job to motivate players. They should be motivated themselves to excel. That's how old Steelers coach Chuck Noll operated...if you can't motivate yourself to dominate at your position, then you should leave football and find your life's work. Now, a coach does have to correct players and tell them what to do better, and make sure players are thoroughly prepared for the next opponent. But motivation? No.
  12. Not meaning to sound sarcastic by stating the obvious, but the HOG doesn't really care what we think of it. It's their team and they can, and will, do what they want...just like the last guy who just got run out of town. But it's correct that we'll have to wait and see...I'm sure HOG will be very careful about who he hires, and fans may have to be patient for a few years...because at least S N Y D E R is gone.
  13. Good thing our defense is the strength of this team! 😆
  14. Acclaimed British heavy metal band Judas Priest watched the game, and they have some input:
  15. That's right, and that's something we never had while S N Y D E R was in charge...coaches were eternally on the hot seat since they day they were hired. Hence, we got coaches who were always trying to hit a home run with personnel moves to the detriment of long-term development.
  16. Very few of these HCs, no matter how good they are, are also good at being a GM. For awhile it seemed like Bill Belichoke did both well, but he's starting to look like the guy who coached the Browns in the 90s. Most of the Patriots' success had to do with Tom Brady being willing to work for pennies so they had the $$$ to sign free agents...not too many guys will do that. Not oo many QBs are married to supermodels who make $40 million per year. Some like to say Jimmy Johnson was a good GM too, but he only coached the Boys for 5 years and if it weren't for the stupidity of the Vikings trading 11 PLAYERS for Herschel Walker he wouldn't have had much to work with either. I don't remember him doing too well with the Dolphins... The problem is too many of these guys want to have ultimate power, even when they should realize the jobs require different skillsets. Not saying a coach shouldn't have significant input into the GM process, but you really need someone to focus on personnel...the 49ers seem to be doing that quite well at the moment. There's a long list of decent-to-good coaches who were mediocre GMs...Bill Parcells is one of them. He said the famous line that if you are responsible for cooking the food then you should be able to pick the vegetables. This assumes that the chef also runs the restaurant, which may be above his paygrade...of course, a good restaurant owner would work well with the chef. Now I'm hungry, talking about chefs...
  17. More like Tugboat Ron than anything else...
  18. Hey, that's MAJOR Tuddy 😉 (you'd think they would at least get that right...Commander is a Navy rank and Major is an Army rank)...and I believe it's Wright inside that costume since he came up with the name in the first place because he said 'tuddy' was a widely-known slang term for a touchdown. Apparently, 'widely-known' to Wright means that he's the one who came up with it.
  19. Nobody will be FIRED, but if EB has a good year he will NOT be around next year. Some other team will belatedly hire him as head coach...unless Rivera gets the axe and Harris promotes EB...which is a good bet. Wait, I forgot about Jason Wright. He will definitely be fired.
  20. With Belichick turning back into a pumpkin since Brady left we can see that many good coaches struggled without a good QB: Chuck Noll from 83-91...no Bradshaw Landry from 1980-88...no Staubach Marv Levy without Jim Kelly George Seifert without Young or Montana Madden without Stabler Don Coryell without Dan Fouts Paul Brown without Otto Graham Lombardi without Starr (ok that was only his one year here...but since it doesn't fit my hypothesis I'm going to conveniently ignore it.)
  21. To paraphrase that renowned football scholar Tony "Scarface" Montana, the Eagles could be like "a great big chicken waiting to get plucked." (from the made-for-TV version of "Scarface")
  22. Oh.My.God. What in the h-e-double-hockey-sticks is that?? It better be in the '30 for 30' documentary that eventually comes out about the Snyder Era. What a dweeb...
  23. Harris spent more time talking to the local media and fans in his first week owning the team than Snyder did in the entire 24 years he was here! And yes, I'm sure he will clean house after this season, but will do it in a professional way...there won't be any 'leaks' to the local radio station about Jason Wright's drinking on the job (example) or Ron Rivera's racist, homophobic rants in the locker room (also an example). 😁
  24. There's an endless number of QBs who were drafted high ruined too early because the OL wasn't solidified yet. Yes, too many hits can get into a QB's head...I seem to recall Jim "Chris" Everett falling down BEFORE he was even sacked.Tim Ouch of the Browns, and Chris "Crystal Chandelier" Chandler from the Falcons also spring to mind, as well as many other ne-er do wells like Browning Nagle, Mike Phipps, Akili Smith, Todd Blackledge, Andre Ware, Rick Mirer... Here's "Chris" Everett getting sacked by a phantom: https://m.facebook.com/JoeMontanasRightArm/videos/the-infamous-phantom-sack-of-jim-everett-during-the-89-nfc-championship-game/634035958227364/
