  1. So what you’re saying is you objectively evaluated Taylor Heinicke coming out of college and according to that evaluation decided he’ll be a high level NFL starter? Or is it when he was out of the league for a couple of seasons and was signed off the street as a last resort that you thought he’ll likely be a high level NFL starter?
  2. If you like unfavorable odds you should average out how many undrafted QBs turn into viable starters. Also I don’t think the Patriots would have drafted a QB that high if they thought his ceiling was just a meh game manager and they’re hoping he plays well enough to earn a big second contract. There’s just no shortcuts when it comes to QBs. If Heinicke continues to develop and improve then great. If he doesn’t, he’s not a long term NFL starter period. Right now he’s above and beyond anything anyone could have hoped for and that’s great, but you’re not building a SB level team around him as things currently stand. If he does get to that level, he’ll demand a bigger contract.
  3. We were last in the league and historically bad on time of possession for the first 4 weeks which really compounded all the issues in the secondary, but the defense has been very good since then. The last two defenses we played were torched by Jimmy G and the Cowboys without Cooper and Lamb respectively, so the offense and the QB need to play better.
  4. Reasonably well at QB doesn’t win you a Super Bowl anymore or even get you to the playoffs on a consistent basis unless you have an all time great defense or Derrick Henry. There’s a good chance reasonably well QB play gets us swept by Dallas, which would turn the lights out on the playoff run.
  5. Eli Manning really? Heinicke has been an absolute gem when factoring in expectations and circumstances, but lets pump the breaks. The most glaring issue the team must currently is we've scored over 20 points just twice in the last seven games, and that's just not going to be good enough to fulfill all this wide eyed optimism that he's anything more than a high end backup, which in and of itself is something we should be thrilled with.
  6. This was said after the most recent game so you're not exactly refuting the point the post you responded to made.
  7. Yeah but he sure as fudge has been relying on it the last 4 games.
  8. I coached a kid that was a Baylor bounce back and spent a season as his teammate. “Into himself” were the exact words he used. Corresponds with what we know now.
  9. Not sure how that refutes anything I said (it doesn’t) but sure why not!
  10. The 4 game losing streak happened because we couldn’t put the ball in the end zone. The Saints scored some points when the defense was worn out but the next 3 games were 100% on the offense for not taking advantage of opportunity. Against Green Bay we were inside the 10 3-4 times and scored 10 points. Against KC we turned them over 2-3 times and scored a whopping 3 points off those turnovers. How is that on the defense?
  11. Considering red zone offense is a big reason we’re not 7-4 I’d say that take has not yet reached its expiration date
  12. Red zone struggles have cost us 2-3 games already so I'd say it's at least time for the offense to get caught up with the point totals in general. This has to get cleaned up.
  13. But then we’d be deprived of your passive aggressive swipes
  14. I’m too busy knowing how legit NFL starting QBs work thanks to prime time games and the late game window on Redzone. The first part is factually incorrect.
  15. Well yeah if Heinicke is your long term starter you land a high draft pick year after year and eventually you find the QB you like. I see the logic.
  16. I don’t know what he’ll do in the NFL but I feel like Pickett has more upside than Kirk did coming out of school.
  17. You balked at the post that called him a perennial starter. IDK find a dictionary.
  18. He hasn't missed a start since 2015. How much perennial can it get
  19. No those are fantasies. The offense under Cousins back in those years had streaks of dominance and a plethora of games given away by the defense. Cousins and Heinicke has a good 3-4 tiers between them.
  20. Most of this is factually incorrect and what the offense did after the ball turned over has nothing to do with the circumstances of the turnover. If those Cousins teams with Jay Gruden and Bruce Allen had merely an average defense they would have went to the playoffs three straight years, while in today’s an NFL you need an all time great defense to make the playoffs with a QB like Heinicke. This whole game manager QB and play defense is antiquated and the idea that it could work in 2021 is complete nonsense.
  21. I don’t know that Cousins isn’t a gamer. Look what he’s done the last couple of weeks including yesterday. We’d be a completely different team with him at QB now. In our game yesterday the defense forced 3 turnovers Heinicke could do absolutely nothing with, and in the end we couldn’t get the ball back because Mahomes converted third down after third down. There’s an immense gap in quality between Heinicke and Cousins
  22. A juxtaposition of people’s takes on Heinicke and Cousins would be interesting.
  23. Doesn’t add any validity to the Mahomes comparison. On the bright side, there’s no validity to subtract from that comparison.
