  1. How much inept attacking football does Southgate plan on watching before he gives Sancho and Grealish a chance.
  2. How I’ve missed Derek Rae over pronouncing every single name on the team sheets.
  3. Leicester doing what they do with another brilliant buy IMO. Aside from his talent what stands out to me is his poise and composure in the final third. They might see him as Vardy's successor, but for now he can also drop deeper and pick out passes. I have a feeling he'll be ruining the weekend of a few posters in here (me included)
  4. The games today were great imo, and the Eriksen tribute was really moving. I've been in a situation in which one of the players on an (American) football program I was coaching collapsed in the middle of practice, but unfortunately could not be revived, so the whole thing hit a little close to home. Anyway, if you want to see the measure of a great player, look at the difference de Ligt and De Bruyne made for their sides today. Anyone that has played soccer extensively should agree De Bruyne's assist looks fairly simple, but the timing and placement of that pass in a tight space with 3 defenders around is much more difficult than it looks. Hopefully he stays healthy throughout cause it's a refreshing change to be able to root for him without that awful hospital gown blue jersey on him. On the other end of the quality structure, how much money did Alaba squeeze out of Madrid again? I would have been concerned by the fact that he can play a few positions, and Bayern have a better player at all of them.
  5. Considering he’s played more golf than soccer over the past couple of years that penalty makes perfect sense.
  6. Can't really argue with anything Mancini is doing but I think Chiesa is can start ahead of Insigne. We have an Italian friend of the family that always says jokingly Italian players rarely move too far from their mother's kitchen (can't blame them) but the top ones rarely transfer out of Serie A for whatever reason. I imagine Barella is what Klopp envisioned Keita could be if he stayed healthy.
  7. This Italian midfield is so much fun to watch. Barella and Locatelli aren't household names yet but their time is fast approaching. Barella in particular is a player Klopp would come out of a lab with if someone told him to go make his perfect midfielder. Derision is the word you're looking for
  8. This is a sport played and watched by billions on every corner of the globe, and literally nobody is even entertaining the idea of changing the offside rules. Bow out gracefully.
  9. Nobody French is debating they’re too busy planning parade routes. Nothing anyone can do when they’re both playing at that level.
  10. I was rooting for France but I have to say I like the rolling addition of minutes is stoppage time for overt time wasting tactics.
  11. I think it’s the Dutch league that uses a thicker computerized line when reviewing offsides to avoid a situation in which a goal is taken away because of microscopic distances. Should be adopted universally.
  12. Do you really not understand that without offside you’d have 7-8 players backed up into the goalkeeper and a goal like that would be impossible. You do not have a sufficient understanding of soccer to be suggesting fundamental rule changes.
  13. Mbappe should get two free throws and walk to first base.
  14. French center backs have been all over the place on a few occasions today. Has to be a card there for endangering
  15. As much as I praise Pogba he’s easily rattled so they’re going to try to take him out of his game. Not sure groping is the way I’d go about it.
  16. Yeah let's change the rule that makes intricate passing and dribbling necessary nobody that watches soccer wants to see dribbling and intricate passing 🤣
  17. Really guys you're going to let me call out this nonsense by myself?
  18. I'm not disagreeing with you I'm telling you as a matter of fact you're a 100% wrong.
  19. It was not a perfectly timed run as he was offsides. It would be impossible to play soccer at that level without offsides and it has absolutely nothing in common with a sports that allows one forward pass, and with the occasional outlier the ball is mostly stagnant in comparison with football. There is absolutely no comparison to made for more reasons than I care to explain, and that's a fact not an opinion. You're way off here.
  20. If there was no offside they wouldn’t have to make strategic runs. What’s football got to do with anything here as well? You’re grossly under informed and proposing rule changes.
  21. Usually Ronaldo doesn’t start behaving like a toddler until later in the game. I should have known he’s on the cusp of a record
  22. 27 isn't too old in footballing terms but if Memphis wants to be mentioned in the same breath as the attackers of the Dutch football generation that preceded his own, it has to start with this tournament.
  23. Some potentially good games tomorrow. It's just about put up or shut up time for Austria to at least make the knockout phases with the talent they have. I've heard some analysts mention Ukraine as a dark horse to advance in the knockout stages against Holland. England vs Croatia should be a great match and (hopefully) we'll see some of us England's young attackers get their first test in a big tournament. This batch of players feels like the 1986 World Cup team with quite a few technical players.
