What's more is he has no problem going right at the teeth of the defense when they're in zone, which should open things up for his teammates by pulling the coverage apart. We had no way of dictating anything with our route combos because opponents knew they could man up anyone not wearing a number 17 jersey and get away with it. Hopefully that changes now.

This is simply not true. I posted a highlight reel in his welcome thread and you can see him beating the press there. He might be 5’11 but that’s mitigated by his wingspan

Some bump and run stuff in here. He has a knack for freezing his defender and immediately stacking. If he can make you hesitate for just a split second he's won the route because of his burst and speed variance. So yeah those are good things -
It's his athletic testing IMO. Hard to tell how far he'll fall, but is he Navarro Bowman?

Again, 7 of the top 10 in receiving yards are 6'1 or shorter.

Watching some more highlights now and two things really jumped out. First, the instant separation, and I do mean instant. His 0-60 is just silly, and he'll take off right into the teeth of the defense. Second, changing up speeds in his routes. He's genius at it, which is a lot more savvy than you'll typically see in a college receiver's game.

Watching some of Dotson's highlights it didn't look like he was pressed all that much which is understandable from the perspective of most B10 defensive playcallers. My assumption is they think it's something he has all the tools to get the hang of. I'd be really intrigued to see his cut up against Ohio State and Michigan.

And here I thought actual scouts were doing it right watching film year round when all they have to do is read a couple tweets and watch a couple YouTube highlights. Imagine the time they could all save.
