  1. We are not the Eagles, and we let up after going up 14-3 against the Jags. I am afraid. Lions: 28 Commanders: 17
  2. I think QBR is a decent measure of how well a quarterback played in a game as compared to a passer rating. And I was always a little worried after seeing several Colts fans rejoicing of the trading of Wentz and how they mocked that most recent "Commanders have found their guy" WaPo article. Essentially it was a common refrain: looks like a superstar and then will make a braindead boneheaded decision. We got that full experience on Sunday. I went and looked up his QBR weekly rankings for 2021 to see if the Colts fans were right and here are the rankings: Week 1: 27th Week 2: 12th Week 3: 22nd Week 4: 2nd Week 5: 15th Week 6: 10th Week 7: 4th Week 8: 20th Week 9: 4th Week 10: 24th Week 11: 9th Week 12: 7th Week 13: 3rd Week 15: 19th Week 16: 9th Week 17: 24th Week 18: 33rd Roughly an average ranking of 14th best in QBR. His ranking for Sunday was 20th. It does look like he goes through streaks. However, it continues to baffle me how people can look at QBR (which isn't perfect) and rank him in the bottom third of the league of starters. IMO, his ceiling is a top ten quarterback. His floor is in the 14-18 range. It's going to be hilarious if the Colts don't have a winning record this year because Irsay wanted Wentz gone because he's a hot head and traded for an inferior and older quarterback.
  3. Good game from Wentz. If we played a marginally better team than the Jags, we lose that game. The back to back turnovers were potential killers. But those drives after the turnovers show Wentz does not choke and has the ability to brush off the mistakes and move on.
  4. How was he a douche about it? "This is Robert's team" was his refrain in 2012-2015 until he was named the starter. Never mentioned RG3. Never threw his teammates under the bus after a loss.
  5. If Cousins were to play for approximately 10 more years, at his current 17 game average of passing touchdowns at 30, he would finish 4th all time in passing touchdowns behind Peyton Manning. In Cousins first 120 starts he has 1,932 more passing yards and 19 more touchdowns than Brees did in his first 120 starts.
  6. A lot of ya'll have waaaay too much confidence in this defense. Jags: 28 Commanders: 17
  7. The amount of hate Wentz gets nationally is absolutely ridiculous, but you would be lying to yourself if you don't think stuff like this coming out isn't a concern or a red flag. I would be absolutely shocked if they benched Wentz at any point during the season.
  8. IMO, if Wentz is a complete and total failure, Rivera & Co. should be fired. If Wentz gets the team to close to a .500 record but misses the playoffs while having the statistical season he had last year with the Colts, I'd say that buys Rivera another year but you still move on from Wentz. Unless of course, the reason why our record is the way it is was because the defense couldn't stop a nose bleed. I am optimistic about Howell. Dude looks like he can play in the NFL, even if it was just against backups and nobodies. Other quarterbacks we have drafted recently looked completely lost in the preseason. Howell didn't. That's a good sign. But it's also obvious that Rivera wants to take things slowly with him. It will be interesting to see if Wentz has to miss games for a significant amount of time if they make the switch to Howell. I would.
  9. Heinicke will be gone after this year. But what if Wentz doesn't work out? I am not saying I don't think Howell could eventually be the guy. Local reporters and the head coach have made it abundantly clear that that is a ways away, however.
  10. FWIW, Logan Paulsen was on Sheehan's podcast a few weeks ago and he basically said Howell's ceiling is a backup in the vein of Heinicke. Not that I agree with that assessment, but there are people who do think his ceiling is a backup at best.
  11. I'm just thankful it seems like he's going to recover quickly. And when the losers who did this are caught, I hope they are given double digit year sentences.
  12. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/08/25/washington-commanders-marching-band/ I know this isn't that big of a deal, but it's really amazing at how quickly they've tried to discard virtually everything and everyone from the past.
  13. Really, really bizarre at how different the signing of Fitzpatrick compared to the trading for Wentz. I mean, Fitzpatrick was a terrible quarterback who had flashes of greatness and became a meme, but he too was on 3 teams in 3 different years and there was never any discussions about him being some terrible person or locker room cancer.
  14. Heinicke looked the worst of the 3 quarterbacks...which is a great thing, IMO. I still think he starts the season as the #2, but that definitely could change if he continues to struggle and Howell continues to play competently.
  15. I'll say this...I am really glad that they didn't draft Corral. He looked completely unprepared on an NFL level.
  16. There is a very real pile-on when it comes to Wentz in the national media...which at times feels harsher than the way certain national figures cover (or carry water) for Watson, and I have no idea why that is. The local media, which is not in any way, shape, or form "tough", has to tiptoe around this by having beat reporters from Philly or Indy come on to rehash said narratives. I have not seen one local person rip Wentz the way he is ripped nationally. They are much more fair, IMO.
  17. Sheehan has every right to make everything about Dan...because it's always been about him. Sheehan lived through the glory years and has seen what was once an NFL Dynasty turn into a complete dumpster fire ever since Snyder owned the team. He's also 100% right to be skeptical about Wentz, and going 10/13 in one preseason game doesn't change that either. The elephant in the room that we aren't supposed to point out (especially if you are in the media and don't want your press credentials revoked by the current president) is that Indy was going to cut him after a 9-8 season with a good season statistically. That is a huge red flag. I am glad that they pulled the trigger and traded for him because I think he was the best of the realistic options that we could get. But I am not sold on him being the guy. At this point he's a one year rental.
  18. I'm sure that if this same reporter had asked Alex Smith why the Chiefs decided to dump him after his best season and Bruce Allen released a statement on social media threatening to remove his credentials that the same people would have been cheering the team President "sticking up for his guy". This whole "the media is too tough and negative on us" is the perfect excuse and one that has been used by other Presidents in DC.
  19. Local media has been doing everything it can for the last few months to question the narratives surrounding Wentz. The only problem is that when they have guys from Indy or Philly on, they just do nothing but reaffirm them. And these last two tweets are as close as they are going to get to actually criticize Wright and stick up for Abramson.
  20. I wouldn't have cared if he posted it after a victory. He did it hours prior to getting destroyed 56 to 14.
  21. I think the reporter set it up that way knowing that Wentz was going to answer classy. I also think it fits with his general, "you know there's a narrative" framing. Wentz definitely comes out looking great and Wright looks the worst, IMO. Just like that stupid tweet he put out with the snowman peeing on the cowboys logo for us to get rekt that next day. Unprofessional.
