That's why Rivera or Mayhew should come out and stop ****footing around the topic. The Dolphins GM just came out and said the door was closed on Watson. We should do the same.

Heinicke is not an option to start the season. I am saying that if they are going to draft a ready to start rookie, why waste money on Trubisky, Winston, or Mariota, when there are cheaper options (Allen) to be the #3. You keep thinking that I am advocating for Heinicke to start. I'm not. I'm advocating that Mitch Trubisky is absolutely terrible and this is backed up by advanced statistics. A sudden change of scenery, or blaming Nagy, isn't going to change this. Darnold was still Darnold in Carolina. Same with Winston or Mariota.

In his last year as a starter, Trubisky was ranked 32nd out of 35 by PFF in their final 2020 rankings. In 2019, Winston and Mariota were 21st and 22nd, respectively. Trubisky was 26th that year. Trubisky was 30th in 2018. Mariota was 17th, and Winston was 22nd. If Ron wants a 2nd "veteran" on the roster, they have Kyle Allen potentially. If they draft a ready to start rookie at 11 overall, or trade up to get one, there is no point, IMO, of bringing in Trubisky, Mariota, or Winston.

Same. Writing off Wentz as an option makes no sense. He has an option to get out of his contract in 2023. If the Colts essentially pay Washington to take him, you do it. They signed 38 year old Ryan Fitzpatrick over Tyrod Taylor, Jameis Winston, Mitch Trubisky, Jacoby Brissett, and Andy Dalton last year. That should tell you how they view these current potential free agents.

I know they were under contract last season, but if Rivera and company truly thought these guys were a great fit for Turner's offense, why didn't they try to trade for a 26 or 27 year old quarterback with playoff experience, but signed a 38 year old journeyman who has never been to the playoffs? And I don't know if having Trubisky or Mariota would have even translated to more wins. We'd probably still wind up 7-10.

I hope you're right. The alleged draft capital that is required to get alleged serial predator Watson is insane and I can't believe people are entertaining bringing him in as if it's some massive game changer. He's not elite. He's not on Rodgers or Wilson's level. This guy has more red flags than Guice, Haskins, and Wentz combined and people are still clamoring for him. Makes no sense.

I would not be upset if they look at the available free agents and pass knowing that they are going to go all in on the draft to draft a quarterback and have a rookie and Heinicke going into the season. Seems like Scott Turner hinted at this at his last press conference. https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/football-team/taylor-heinicke-will-be-factor-regardless-any-qb-moves-scott-turner

If they sign a Trubisky, Bridgewater, or Mariota and whiff on a draft pick at quarterback, and then have another mediocre to terrible season, it would seriously be time to start considering firing Rivera and company. That would be 3 seasons in a row where they have failed to address the most important position in the sport. Signing Fitzpatrick to be "the guy" last year should have been a massive red flag to everyone. I hope they don't go that route again this year.

I don't care about the red flags. If the Colts essentially pay you to take him off of your hands, you take Wentz over any of the other options (again, assuming Wilson and Rodgers are a no). Then draft Pickett. Arm strength is overrated. Malik Willis scares the hell out of me. Hearing a lot of "sit and learn", "project", and talks about how he cannot adjust protections at the line is giving me strong Haskins vibes. And I don't think Willis has the same laziness that Haskins did. But you don't draft a "project" in year 3 of a 5 year contract. Matt Corral's size is the only thing that worries me about him. I would be okay with taking him. Ridder should not be a first round selection, but since there are several QB needy teams, he might be. The biggest red flag that I have with Pickett is that his numbers prior to his last year in college were very similar to Jarret Doege of WVU. I'm a WVU fan, and Doege is absolutely terrible and would have no business playing in the NFL. I just worry that Pickett's last years stats could be a mirage.

He's good as a bridge quarterback. I don't want any of these potential free agents or trade possibilities (with the exception being Rodgers and Wilson) without also drafting a quarterback. Preferably Pickett. Corral's size concerns me. Willis seems to have the biggest bust potential. I'd be shocked if Ridder went in the first round.
