  1. I had the oddest feeling watching the offense yesterday. I was nervous on just about every throw (a lot of his throws sailed and receivers made excellent catches to bail him out at times), and was nervous about Heinicke staying healthy. But when he threw the pick just shy of the 2 minute warning, normally that would have meant good night and game over to this team...but I actually thought we had a chance to drive down the field and kick the field goal. Mostly because of Heinicke. I can't remember the last time I've felt confident going into the final 2 minutes while losing.
  2. Yes. For this team. If Heinicke falls flat on his face and fails in the games coming up, what sense is there in playing a 38 year old journeyman in meaningless games once he's healthy? I'd rather see Kyle Allen at that point.
  3. Heinicke is undefeated in games that he has started in the regular season. All he does is win!
  4. He has played good in every game he's appeared in. Sure, he might have a stinker here and there, but I have seen nothing to suggest that he's going to fall off of a cliff.
  5. What?! The way this defense has been hyped up (by themselves as well) has me extremely concerned right now.
  6. IMO, it's too premature to declare him "the guy" or "the future" right now. But, barring injury, he's earned himself the rest of the season as the starter.
  7. I did not count that because it was a Thanksgiving game and not an exclusive Thursday night football game. Thanksgiving is one of the few "primetime" slots were this team fares decently.
  8. Jones is 4-0 against Washington. Jones is 0-5 in primetime games. Washington is 0-3 against the Giants in Thursday night games. Let the drinking commence.
  9. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/dolphins-players-not-confident-in-tua-tagovailoas-quarterbacking-abilities-per-report/ Yes.
  10. I said his ceiling was Jeff Garcia. Heinicke has a floor too. It could be Colt McCoy (or worse).
  11. I hope he saves it for tomorrow. I don't want him to go to jail.
  12. If they cannot get pressure on Jones tomorrow, you might as well call this season a wrap. The Giants o-line is one of the worst in the league. It will definitely be time to panic at that point.
  13. The first was in a response to Chase's compliment of Taylor starting for all 32 teams in the league. One of which he was getting killed for. The second was in your response that Chase was actually saying they had more confidence in Fitzpatrick when he said that about Taylor. Which is silly. You are trying to act like some random nobody on a message board is going to create locker room drama. Yes, you need to get a grip. I wasn't knocking Fitzpatrick. His teammates love him. He's got a wonderful beard. But they also love the backup quarterback and are going out of their way to put him over, saying that they are not going to miss a beat. So, this was more of a knock against the people who think Heinicke is going to fall flat on his face, and that the season is done because Fitz is out 6-8 weeks. The teammates clearly believe differently.
  14. That was only done because of the dismissiveness to the compliments Heinicke was getting, to the point that saying Heinicke could start for all 32 teams meant that they had "more confidence in Fitz".
  15. Good grief, get a grip. I'm not trying to "create drama". I'm sure they do like both and believe they both can be starters. In fact, in that same article, Logan said Fitz was a "warrior". I am saying that a guy who's bounced around from team to team and has started exactly 2 NFL games in his career being compared to as on the same level as the guy who has started 147 is a positive for Heinicke. The team believes there will be no drop off. I've never seen a team gush like this over the backup quarterback to this degree. Ever. It really isn't. I'm sure they love both guys. It's a really good thing that they are rallying behind Heinicke. They don't think they will miss a step. How is that a bad thing?
  16. https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/football-team/weve-never-seen-taylor-backup-logan-thomas-heinicke-starter "We've never seen Taylor as the backup. Not even in the spring." Not exactly a ringing endorsement for Fitz considering the experience gap between the two. People were incredibly hyped up over a very broad sample size for a 38 year old journeyman who has never once appeared in a playoff game (backup or otherwise) in 17 seasons. And pundits had us not only winning the division, but the NFC. That is far more annoying than fans getting behind an unknown and hoping that he could turn out to be something special.
  17. https://www.audacy.com/thefandc/sports/washington-football-team/taylor-heinicke-washington-teammates-want-him-to-stay https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/football-team/washington-football-team-believes-taylor-heinicke-just-ask-them His teammates are the ones publicly adoring him.
  18. Daniel Jones is undefeated against this team. Last year, we should have won at least the first game. The momentum was on our side and Rivera tried for 2 instead of kicking the extra point and sending the game to overtime. In the second game, Allen was injured in the first quarter and the Giants scored 3 of their 23 points in the second half. An Alex Smith boneheaded interception ending that game. In other words, it isn't anything Jones is doing specifically to win these games. So I think the undefeated streak ends tomorrow. WFT - 24 Giants - 17
  19. Jeff Garcia is the comp. That's Heinicke's ceiling, IMO. I'll take that in a heartbeat.
  20. To be clear, I don't think this was an intentional shot at Fitzpatrick. But usually, when they ask a player about the backup quarterback, they will give you a generic "next man up" answer. To specifically say that he could start for any other team (not to mention the way he reacted in the playoff game last year) makes me think that the team does not believe there is going to be any drop off now that Fitz is out hurt.
  21. The one thing that stood out to me with Heinicke when being thrust into games, and even including starting the playoff game which he was essentially named the starter hours before game time, was that he does not look completely lost out there. He goes through his progressions. He senses pressure well. He doesn't really make repeated boneheaded mistakes. He doesn't panic. He has essentially played what amounts to roughly 2 games with us now. Through those games, he has had 3 passing touchdowns, 1 rushing touchdown, and 1 interception. Very small sample size, but you would expect the numbers to be much, much worse if he had nothing to offer. His completion percentage is around 63% with us (throwing 40+ times in the playoff game skewed this number), but his most recent outings off of the bench (12/19 and 11/15) show that he is not terribly inaccurate. As for Kyle Allen, and believe me I am not a believer that he is a part of the future outside of a stopgap starter or a backup, but it's kind of annoying when people talk about how terrible the quarterback play was last season. He started 4 games last year, and on 87 attempts, had 4 touchdowns to 1 interception. He was decent in that stretch of games before his injury. He was by no means terrible. And according to Sheehan, who keeps bringing it up on his podcast and his radio show, Rivera and Turner are more interested in Allen being the starter than Heinicke. The big issue is whether or not Allen's ankle is 100%.
