  1. People are acting like this is a huge nothingburger and I don't get it. We have found out: -Snyder pushed for Wentz. -Wright is a figurehead that was essentially given to Snyder by the league. -Julie Donaldson's hire was a PR move that violated the Rooney Rule -Rivera didn't want to fire Vermillion in 2021, but Wright did. -The culture is actually still damn good. -The no stadium might lead to his removal. Most of the other stuff was run of the mill "typical Dan" stories, but there were a ton of nuggets I had never heard before.
  2. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34778123/washington-commanders-owner-dan-snyder-claims-dirt-nfl-owners-roger-goodell The least surprising thing ever written. With regards to the QB: "Current and former team executives say Snyder is still far more involved running the club than most realize, imploring football decision-makers last March to trade for quarterback Carson Wentz -- despite a deal he made with Goodell in July 2021, when he was also fined $10 million, to give up day-to-day management to his wife, Tanya."
  3. I would expect Wentz to be in the top 5 in yards. The team has been behind in virtually every game whereas the run game would have to be abandoned and he's forced to throw.
  4. Keim was on Sheehan's show this morning and said that the coaching staff has come to terms with the flaws Wentz has, that they can't coach out of him. "Decision making" was mentioned. Not trying to play hero ball.
  5. Rivera benched him after 4 games. Released him when all they had was a one legged Alex Smith, Heinicke, and Montez on the practice squad.
  6. I saw someone on social media say the announcers during yesterday's game said something to the effect of Wentz admitted to them that trying to learn Turner's system was like "putting his brain in a blender". Did anyone catch this? I missed it (if it's even true).
  7. Kyle Allen looked much better than Haskins and if it were a legitimate competition, he should have won the job.
  8. Went with Haskins (which in retrospect, he should have told Dan that he was not going to give him a shot if he didn't warrant one, but hindsight 20/20 and all of that), Fitzpatrick, and now Wentz. And takes zero responsibility for it. Also, what's with this "well he hasn't been here long" nonsense with regards to Wentz? Is he aware of who won the Super Bowl last year? And the QB who lost in the Super Bowl last year?
  9. Wentz is playing at the level I thought Fitzpatrick would have played at last season. It would be really cool if Howell actually got to see the field at some point this season and showed some real promise. I think that is the only way this franchise ever will succeed at anything. They have to find an actual, legitimate franchise quarterback.
  10. He did it in 2020 with Haskins. But he didn't pick Haskins. He was the one responsible for getting Wentz. Benching him admits he was wrong.
  11. Yep. IIRC, Sheehan had Logan Paulsen on his podcast and he asked him what he thought Howell's ceiling was, and Paulsen said a high end backup like Heinicke. But what if his ceiling is higher than that? The only way you find out is by playing him. If it turns out that that is his ceiling, great, you have a cheap and young backup quarterback on your roster. I still cannot remember any team replacing the starter with the 3rd stringer on the depth chart. Whenever they activate Howell is probably a tell tale sign that there's going to be a switch.
  12. I've never seen a head coach essentially say that Wentz is not a good fit for his offensive coordinator's system. I agree, but he is the one that went out and traded for him.
  13. If you remember, he said that (IIRC) the Eagles were asking him about his sexual orientation. The NFL and NFLPA looked into it and found it meritless. That was a huge red flag that kind of got brushed aside. But it does not surprise me in the least that Dan had no issue with his character issues. They are like two peas in a pod in that respect.
  14. Jesus those are some brutal quotes. Hopefully Jason Wright doesn't threaten to revoke Ron's press credentials.
  15. In fairness to Dan (and I loathe typing that out), there was this weirdness about the red flags about Guice's character, and the media did everything they could to provide cover for them by talking about how he was always smiling and liked lollipops. It was bizarre.
  16. He's had 23 years to stumble into success and has gotten in the way of it multiple times. He fired Turner with a record of 17-12. Fired Schottenheimer after one 8-8 season. Forced Spurrier into drafting Ramsey. He hired Zorn first as an offensive coordinator, and then named him the head coach. He wanted to trade 3 first rounders for Jay Cutler. He pushed for McNabb. He chose his "star" quarterback over a proven NFL head coach in 2013. He actually lucked into drafting a franchise quarterback in 2012, and they let him walk for nothing in 2018. He forced the team to draft Haskins. I don't doubt he also was heavily involved in the decision to pursue Wentz. And this is just the on the field issues.
  17. Yep. It's going to be interesting after Chicago. Do they bench Wentz for Howell, and make Wentz the inactive QB? Or do they bench him for Howell and make Heinicke inactive? And has there ever been an instance of a starter being benched for the 3rd stringer?
  18. There would be growing pains with Howell for sure, but his mobility would help with some of the offensive line issues.
