  1. I was there yesterday. I was surrounded by Phillies fans. It was an infestation. It was the worst...until they walked-off. Oh Lord, watching them sulk off to the gates. It was the best. **** Philadelphia Sports and their wretched fans.
  2. The Wizards, and the NBA as a whole, has always been dead last on my sports radar. For as long as I can remember, they've been losers. Even when they had those blips of semi-success in the mid-2000s and with Wall, you knew they weren't going anywhere.
  3. See, that's what I'd prefer to do every time he's at Nationals Park but you know all those wretched Broad Street Line riding SOBs from Philly are gonna cheer the lungs out so unless we want this place to actually sound like "Citizens Bank Park South" I guess we're gonna have to release the birds.
  4. Tomorrow's my birthday and I'm taking the day off to go to the ball park. Just bought my tickets. Gonna be in section 140 - just above right field. See ya then, Bryce & Friends.
  5. If I didn't already have travel plans for the summer (namely a trip to Chicago to see the Nats play the Cubbies), I would've bit the bullet, gotten an AirBnB, and requested the 2nd and 3rd off for the sole purpose of holding down the fort at Nationals Park.
  6. Wanted to bump this thread for this very reason. I'm going to the game on the third but won't be there for the 2nd. For those of you going, please hold down the fort and don't let these BSL ****s take over the park. Edit: I'll say that I do love Sports Bog because they cover this kind of off-beat stuff and usually don't take themselves too seriously. They're the main reason I got a subscription last year - along with Boswell's columns and Chelsea Janes' Nationals coverage (though I guess my timing was poor in that regard).
  7. I dunno - what do you think about red herrings wrapped in bad faith arguments? Moments like this don't happen out of nowhere:
  8. This is part of the reason why the Ride-or-Die Israel crew's argument is lacking to me. Palestinians are kept on the West Bank like prisoners and face fierce retribution for even relatively innocuous resistance. We've got men, women, and children - armed and unarmed - getting blown away by a military subsidized by the good ol' U.S.ofA and yet Palestinians are continually painted as this dangerous, antisemitic monolith (never mind that there are Jewish Palestinians along the West Bank).
  9. He says this when people are still walking around - even right in the nation he oversees - still have numbers tattooed on their arms because of this very sentiment. To hell with this wretched apartheid state. Free Palestine.
  10. Thinking about multiple trips to Camden Yards this summer. Rivalry aside, it is a beautiful, accessible park and it (along with the City of Baltimore and the O's fandom at-large) deserves a winning team. Plus, the Angels are gonna be there in May and I gotta see Mike Trout this guy up-close.
  11. This year, I'm getting really antsy and cagey over baseball. I'm just so ready for the season to start.
  12. Scherzer's first Bryce-K is gonna be so sweet. Nationals Park is gonna roar
  13. Don't blame the man for getting that up-front money. Having said that, every station on the Broad Street Line smells like pee and I hope his trains are always late. [Booing intensifies]
  14. I dunno - Machado's got a higher career WAR and had a much better slash line than Bryce (he was batting around .200 for big chunks of the season). It would be hard for me to justify signing Harper to a record breaking contract based on that.
  15. At this point, I'd be fine with Harper going somewhere other than an NL East Rival. Hell, I'd almost prefer to see him under a Chicago White Sox cap than back in D.C. since our outfield is getting kinda cramped (and God knows the South Siders need all the help they can get right now). I want him and any other player to get paid but I also just want this whole thing to end.
  16. If this were a Christopher Guest mockumentary or a season of Veep or some form of performance art, this would be considered the pinnacle of satire and would win every award in the book.
  17. Real shame management's been doing a crummy job building a winning team.
  18. Hope they move/expand in the Carolinas too. Raleigh and Charlotte could totally support an MLB franchise.
  19. Serves the Angelos family right for stonewalling baseball out of D.C. for so long. Oddly enough, though, the O's (then under Jerold Hoffberger) were one of the two teams to vote against the Senators moving in '71. I think the other team was the White Sox - one of the reasons they're my favorite AL franchise.
  20. As we approach the 15th season of Nationals baseball with a ton of question marks, let's all take a deep breath and remember: -D.C. still has big league baseball. Our 30+ year wait mercifully ended and it looks like the Nats are here to stay. -Montreal may very well have a team again so things may be back in balance soon (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/montreal-baseball-new-stadium-1.4947176) -And of course:
  21. A dynasty that could, conceivably, last 20+ full seasons. Weren't we supposed to be in a post-dynasty era now that free agency is in play? Unbelievable.
  22. Ah, man, I didn't know Max Kellerman posted here!
  23. So if the Pats win in two weeks, is Belichick gonna have an Infinity Gauntlet made for himself to put his six rings into?
