  1. Lock him in and get the big boys on the Oline all signed and one can reasonably speculate the Skins would have the potential to be dominate at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. What am I missing? Hope it happens. Obviously, I continue to pound this point home, but I pay all the dudes on the Oline big money and that will be countered with a cheap DLine. No way with Haskins being average and both lines taken care of the Skins won’t compete and have a chance to surprise.
  2. He’s a strip sack artist (absolutely love this about him and is not discussed enough as an important trait for pass rushers) and often gets sacks with his length. Might play a factor in what you’re saying.
  3. It’s always great for a player to have freakish athletic ability and it be coupled with production. Not that it’s everything, but it’s comforting to know Young was the leading “sack getter” this past season and not just a freak with above average to good production. Imagine having to convince yourself how great Chase Young is after a 3 sack junior season like that of Clowney when entering the draft (he did have 13 as a Sophomore). Not attempting to make this one example an end-all-be-all point, but maybe it’s not coincidence that Clowney has not produced great to elite sack numbers in any NFL season.
  4. Not attacking you, but still haven’t discovered any information that grades/compares Scherff to other guards this past season and showing him not having a pro bowl caliber season. I know he graded out well on PFF, but that’s not always a great measure, but with Oline it’s extremely convenient for a laymen fan to lean on lol. Scherff had 2 games with multiple penalties and that’s bad but the remaining 12 or so he had 4 accepted penalties. Absolutely dumbfounded how fans and radio personalities are ready to let go of Scherff and lock in Flowers to a long term contract. Or toss aside Trent Williams, due to him being 31 when so many examples are available to show he will play into his mid 30s and easy to project for a talent like it would be at a high level. Invest in the Oline and get them all back. The team is in a unique position with many of the projected playmakers being on rookie deals and rookie QB salary starting when Alex is off the books this year.
  5. Thoughts on a player conserving energy throughout a game?? Is this real/smart or lazy/dumb??
  6. The first sack on the clip he was tripled teamed leaving a guy unblocked for the sack. Fascinating how we as humans can differ, I saw an impactful dude working every play. I stopped watching after 6min, due to no longer needing to watch.
  7. I spent a few minutes earlier attempting to compare Sherman’s 2018 and Norman’s 2019. Obviously many variables are involved, but Norman’s situation with Rivera could be interesting. Sherman in 2018 played on one of the worst defensive units in the NFL, 0 interceptions, 38 tackles, and no pro bowl. 2019 Sherman: top defensive unit, 3 interceptions, 61 tackles and a pro bowl nod. Don’t really have a position on Norman, just an off season thought lol
  8. Chase Young. Pre Bosa and an effective offense: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/sfo/2018.htm The formula is there
  9. Im adding a variable that doesn’t support the model of franchising above average to good QBs, but the CBA being up may provide a win/win for both sides and not lead to any bad feelings next season. Im with you though, you’d like to have stability and a plan, but this can’t be overvalued by a franchise in certain situations. **The CBA is another variable in Kirk Cousins contract situation that doesn’t get enough attention. This played a significant part in the contract negotiations with Kirk’s team. Don’t have any proof, but Dalton seems to have an average arm, and Fitzpatrick one of the weaker ones on the game. Not willing at this point to just lump them in the same category, due to neither having good to elite type arm. The train has left to get Tannehill on a “cheap” deal. My guess, he’ll command a salary cap percentage of 10-14%. But yes, Tannehill coming into this year had great value, especially if he didn’t play at all this year. A team would’ve gotten Tanny at 5-7% of the cap with the potential we’re seeing now. His value will diminish greatly next year,IMO. Totally with you on the value Mariota will have next year, he’s fit right in the model I’m bringing up. A team will get a young supremely talented QB who’s experienced some success at a very low cost. Dalton or Mariota types and which is better is totally subjective, but the speculative value is real.
  10. The smart move would be to franchise him, but the tag is still viewed by many as a slight, especially to the QB, but that stigma may slowly go away. Dallas has been slow to get the deal done, but I’m with you, I thing it will get done and be a monster contract.
  11. That’s precisely why his value is at an all time high. Dalton belongs nowhere near a top 15-20 type salary, but get him in at 6% of your cap with a team loaded/ready to compliment him, then that makes great sense. The Bengals are atrocious and sneakily chose the path you support in tanking. Not sure the elite of the elite could’ve made that team a playoff type team this year. 33 is still a QBs prime, IMO. Subjective, but Fitzpatrick is very poor at managing games and his arm talent probably the worst in the NFL. Sure, his leadership intangibles and willingness to gun sling can be the catalyst to some wins, but I’d pass on him on a team ready to compete. I believe Kirk after this next season is going to have supreme value, not a cheap shot, just a feeling. Tannehill was another guy I’ve mentioned as being of potential great value after this year, but that was before he went on a tear. He will lose a ton of value, due to Titans having to most likely commit 12-15% of their cap to him. All subjective though. We’ll see.
  12. Mahomes being the Michael Jordan of football and being on a rookie deal isn’t fair lol. Love this conversation as it relates to the QB tiers/contracts and building the roster. How the NFL adapts and which teams find an edge will be fun to observe. For example, if a team was ready to take a leap next year, then Dalton becomes a huge value pickup. His perceived value seems to be low— Get him in for a contract at 4-7% of the cap and roll with it. There are other ways to get it done than having an elite QB, but that requires an organization to be operating at a high level and be elite in the trenches, often times. I’m with you on this model and have been talking about it for years. As you said, there are many ways to skin a cat.
  13. Not hard to gather that Del Rio sees an opportunity to take this unit to new heights while improving his stock to be considered for a head coaching position.
  14. He does appear to be the type to consult with many others to get a feel for KOCs impact and qualifications.
  15. Keep Jordan Reed at a reduced salary, sign dual TE like Hunter Henry and draft one later in the draft. Sprinkle and Davis can go. Yes, I’m a sucker for elite talents and have been proven wrong on Reed, but if he’s gonna play, I’d rather see the Skins hang in there at a reduced cost with a different set of expectations.
  16. Collins seems legit to me. Sure, one can argue not paying an in the box safety the money he received, but that doesn’t take away that he’s one of the best at doing it. The further you get elsewhere from the ball the more dependent of others a player is, so get Reuben Foster and Chase Young with the other young guys improving and a great stat year (We fans love Interceptions, highlights, or even a play that seals a game to infiltrate our mind for that season, especially if winning) will hopefully present itself.
  17. Pretty wild how the elite talents jump off the screen amongst supremely gifted players. Great to finally hit on one. If the offensive talent can establish a rhythm by years end, the Skins are in great position financially moving forward, as much of the skill guys are on rookie deals for next two to three years.
  18. Well, he is... an older WR at this stage of his career.
  19. Truly a fascinating development that took place in practice, because we didn’t get to see it in preseason games lol Richardson is a proven deep threat in this league (injuries aside) and if Terry is 70% of the hype that’ll go a long way in the offense being average.
  20. Speeeeeeeed. Who needs physicality in today’s NFL.
  21. I can see him being the primary jet sweep threat as well (solid build and speed). Side note, I’d like to see the Skins do this with Thompson, much like Kamara.
  22. Richardson and Reed: If healthy, the Skins have a chance on offense to be solid. Need both to play 12-14 games though. The health of these two will allow Doctson, Davis, and Trey to play roles that align with their ability. Rookies are a wait and see for me.
  23. Great point. Wonder how Mcclaurin does on slants and catching balls in traffic. I know Jay likes to have one guy that can be physical. Mcclaurin seems to have solid build.
  24. Has a little Santonio Holmes look to me. Any similarities? Draft gurus please feel free to discredit my random assertion.
