  1. This is one of the better posts I've read. You are right, after the fact I did try to talk myself into like the Forbes and Davis picks. I told myself to trust the pros and disregard all we have read. We all know how fortunate we are to getting rid of Dan and Ron while obtaining the 2nd pick in the draft. Never really thought to put the Forbes pick into the equation but you may be right. If we had won just one more game, and maybe Forbes over Gonzales produced the loss, then it was a great long term pick as it helped us obtain Peters and perhaps the QB to build around.
  2. Who could ever forget that game. I was playing fall league softball that ended at a little after 1.I got in the car and heard them go up 21-0,, at a time when I was my most rabid. I got home and watched it all fall apart. Riggs had like 250 yards in that game or something crazy but fumbled away the win after a long run.
  3. You claim I had not listened to your argument, when I did and addressed it, and now you can't even bother to read mine? I should have never given you a pass on our Dwayne Haskins bet had I know you would act like such a coward.
  4. The Dallas game was over early at 27-0, but even they didn't get embarrassed the way the Philadelphia Eagles got embarrassed. Missed tackles, inept offense, just the worst performance from the team I hate even more than the Cowboys. Their fans were pretty chesty in October, now they have to wonder if their team didn't give another Carson Wentz contract to their QB.
  5. No the Bears GM said something like "we're in a unique position" which means drafting Caleb Williams I would think.
  6. I have always loved Mel Kiper and this exchange. But it would have been a lot better if Trent Dilfer wasn't a bust. This is one of my biggest concerns about Daniels. I also agree he takes off too quickly and takes too many hits, I want a QB who has mobility but escapes with is eyes downfield.
  7. They had guys wide open all over the field,, Dallas had 2 receivers right next to each other in the end zone.
  8. You are comparing Howell to first round QBs, one the overall #1. You are essentially arguing that Taylor Heinke can be a franchise QB if they just built the team up around him.
  9. I have listened to every word, all you have been talking about is the hole these trades have created which nobody is arguing. I have acknowledged your point and agreed that it left a hole. I have also tried too explain why you are not looking at the bigger picture, you see you need to look at everything when evaluating the trades and the cap ramifications is a huge part of that. The part you continue to ignore. So I have carefully and painfully tried to explain this to you as you lecture us about your superior football knowledge. Your response was they have a lot of cap space so it was doable, which of course totally ignores how we have already seen collectively they just aren't worth that kind of cap commitment and how that caps space could not be better utilized elsewhere on the roster.. Sweat and Payne have a combined cap hit of $43 million for 2024. Sweat just signed an extension that pays $25 million a year so that is what it would have cost Washington to retain him. His cap hit is $25 million. So you already have $68 million tied into those 3. Say Chase's deal is $15 million a year, if he is as valuable as you claim that's probably low. So that leaves you with a cap hit of $83 million for 4 players who have proven that they are just not a great DL. Chase has now proven in SF that without a doubt he is a pass rusher who can't get to the QB and I'm glad it's not my team that will be overpaying him. OK so it's not 100 million but 83 million is far too much for their production. So it would have been stupid to retain them at that cost or to let them walk for nothing. It's really very simple.
  10. I have been on Maye from the start. But one thing that has always concerned me was his long delivery. Anyone else notice that? I wonder if that can be coached up without losing accuracy.
  11. Peters picks his players based on what the coaches look for. I don't see it but if both Williams and Maye are available it may not be who he prefers, they are different types of QBs so he will take the QB the coach prefers for his system.
  12. What he said. We didn't see the flags with Stroud that we've already seen with Williams. Now I'd be fine with the pick if he fell but still there are concerns.
  13. One thing that really impressed me about the Niners is they missed on Trey Lance and Soloman Thomas at the top of those drafts but still drafted so well they could absorb those misses.
  14. And the Lions whiffed on a number of high pick WRs before they tried again and drafted Calvin Johnson. You can't be scared based on the past, especially when it's a totally new group. All this trade back talk is nonsense, they should and will select the QB they like.
  15. I kept him at RG where he belongs. Not sure why my post got no love and one thumbs down. What exactly is wrong with my plan for Year 1? We can't fix everything but assuming the QB works out that's a much improved team without making a lot of dramatic moves such as trading productive players (Terry and Allen) or spending draft capital to move up and fill needs. I'm trying to find a way to utilize Wylie as the cap hit will be costly should he be cut so he can be a good backup guard. We go straight BPA in the draft other than perhaps a few spots to fill the RT need but don't reach to fill other needs. In a few years this is potentially a really good roster.
  16. Here is what I am rooting for: Find the next Jon Jansen with one of the high 2nds and lock down that RT position. Sign a free agent LG who is actually really solid. Stromberg shows why he was a good center prospect, has gone through the process and is ready to step in at center at a higher level than they had last season. They find that once he is not in space Wylie is an excellent guard who will provide quality depth and we can actually get value out of this signing. Leno was not really the problem last year, they can roll him out again but look for them to find their LT of the future through the draft. I hope they can retain Lucas, the most underrated player on the team who performed well when given the chance. These changes will significantly improve the OL Find a vet TE and LB in free agency. Again I'm looking for good players we can squeeze a few years out of like we did with London Fletcher. That fixes many of the immediate needs. Now we turn one of the best talent evaluators in the league loose to draft BPA. I fully expect this group to find quality players regardless of position throughout the draft. Of course this all depends on hitting on the QB. It all starts there. Cincy, Miami and Houston have shown that a franchise QB can change your team overnight.
  17. Not declaring for the draft is yet another annoying thing about Williams. I'm in the group that prefers Chicago deal with all that surrounds Caleb Williams, give me Drake Maye and don't even bother talking to me about any other QB prospect.
  18. I think it would be more entertaining if the team that lost got the first pick.
  19. I'm a Kirk guy but suggesting they bring him back when they should and will be drafting their QB of the future (or at least they hope) was a very brave thing to do.
  20. And this is why I dismiss stats such as "they are 7-0 when they rush 20 times in a game". Such a stupid stat trotted out by stupid people.
  21. Funny my posts seem to be getting a lot of love, yours not so much. You act like you are smarter then everyone else here. You are not. We all know the holes it created. You were the only one to suggest they invest $100 million a year for 4 defensive linemen when that group had several seasons to show they were great and they just weren't.
  22. I appreciate you posting the link to that site. If the word gets out here if this site goes down we can increase the traffic there and make it a better board. But I won't register there unless we lose ES, I'm pretty loyal to this site.
