  1. Carr and Stafford aren't comparable at all.. Stafford wanted out after years of losing and the Lions did the right thing and obliged. Carr on the other hand was benched for poor play, that was never the case with Stafford, and is no longer even dressing with the team.
  2. I won't pretend that I followed Carr's career all that closely. But I clearly remembered him coming up small in big moments. I mean if he was this good why would he be available?
  3. Carr is just like the guy we ran out of town. He has his moments but fails in the biggest moments. I'll leave it at that.
  4. For some reason his name is no longer permitted on the Stadium board. But I'd just like to point out that we had that guy in Minnesota, who has engineered multiple come backs this year, and have gone through a laundry list of guys, spent high draft picks and a lot of cap space, and none of have been any good and not nearly as good as the guy most fans wanted run out of here on a rail. Just sayin'.
  5. I'm fine if the former players want to sue Snyder for using the name Hogs. But their trademark application has not been approved yet so how can they claim they have the legal rights to the name now before they actually legally own the name?
  6. The only time I saw Chase Young carry the team on his back was the first half of the Niners game in his rookie season. Let's not get carried away here.
  7. I've already corrected my mistake several times. I stand on the position that the Redskins were not a Brunell and Randy Thomas injury away from being a championship team, that's utterly ridiculous. Brunelle was never any good in Washington
  8. Excellent point. Obviously a good OL, good weapons and coaching has a tremendous effect on a QBs success or failure. But it's not just that. Purdy is clearly more accurate than Taylor, and his arm is not nearly as weak.
  9. Remember the end of the Shanny era and fans were crying that the only way Kyle had that job was because of his dad? Those were good times. Kyle has shown to be a brilliant offensive mind and has taken the last pick in the draft and made him successful.
  10. Yes I acknowledged my mistake. And I know you are not making this argument but sorry injuries to players of the level of Brunell, Randy Thomas and David Patton, who did nothing here and no defense was scared enough of him to draw coverage away from Moss, did not stop that team from winning a title. That team was not that good and neither were those 3 players, at least when they played here.
  11. Good catch, I was thinking of 2007. Regardless to claim injuries to Randy Thomas and Mark Brunell kept them from winning a championship is utter nonsense.
  12. In fairness to Ron he did say he was going to announce the starter and will not give him a short leash so he won't be constantly looking over his shoulder. Thjs was the correct approach IMO, Wentz lost his job for a reason. He rode the TH bus as long as he could. This was a game Washington had little chance of winning, I was surprised they were in the game as long as they were. I was encouraged by what I saw in Chase Young. That's about all the good I took out of that game.
  13. The Redskins were 5-6 with Mark Brunell, and even with a 52 point outing against SF they were averaging 19 pts a game. The only reason they made that run to sneak into the last playoff spot was Todd Collins played much better than Mark Brunell as they were then averaging 27 points per game in those last 4 games. To believe Brunell's injury along with the one to Thomas, who was not all that great, was the difference between their final record and a Super Bowl title is crazy talk.
  14. I see a few posters defending Ron's draft record, one called it "very good". I looked over the record and have a different take. I'm not calling it bad but can't go with very good either. I don't really know what to do with the Chase Young pick. Surely he has not turned into the dominant force we anticipated but he was DROY so not a miss by any means And it's obviously too early to grade Mathis, and Dotson was clearly a hit. St Juste was a good pick, as was Forrest. Robinson, Curl and players like Smith-Williams and several others who project to be decent starters or role players. But other than Dotson who can we see on the list of all of those players who is really going to be a difference maker? Possibly Davis but going from lost to pretty good is not really proof of anything yet. Then we have too many picks like Cosmi who does not appear to be a starting OT and will be forced to move to guard where he is unproven.
  15. It's been so long I can't recall the plays but he clearly made plays with his running in the playoff game. Not sure if they were designed runs or off schedule plays, probably both, but he showed he can make plays with his feet. Why won't he escape the pocket and scramble for 9 on 3rd and 7 like so many other QBs do? Instead he stands in the pocket like Peyton Manning and never uses one of his biggest assets.
  16. This is kind of how I see it as well. When you include the end of OT the Commanders had many more chances to lose this game than win it. So a tie is kind of a relief.
  17. I sort of agree with this, they were in a tough situation. My comment was more about the support for the name and how some want it back. I think my analogy was pretty accurate. It's like having a baby and calling it "Boy" for 2 long years until they settled on a real name. Then they hear an aunt saying they don't like the chosen name and suggest they go back to Boy.
  18. This was not the team sending an F You to the league. No this was the result of a team who was once again caught behind the times and had no alternative name once they were forced to make a change. The Washington Football Team is not unlike having a baby and calling it "Boy" for the first 2 years until you can figure out an actual name
  19. I remain baffled at the support for The Washington Football Team. That is not a name guys It is literally not a name at all. Given the choice I'll get used to Commanders before I ever support Football Team.
  20. I think the point is the poster who claimed it was a fact that they won't rebrand is simply not correct. Of course it's still in play. I'm with the crowd that prefers Red in the name. Red Hawks, Red Wolves etc. I still can't believe a small group would be OK with the return to The Football Team. That is the dumbest name in the history of professional sports.
  21. This poll shows only 41% like or love the name, 49% dislike or hate it and 11% had no opinion. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/poll-reveals-washington-commanders-nickname-unpopular-among-local-residents/
  22. What a strange team this is. The QB stinks, this is obvious, yet they keep winning when he plays. At some point that's gonna run out but it's fun to watch. Not sure what happened with Brian Robinson. For most of the season, from what I saw anyway, he just looked like an average or below average NFL starting RB. But man has that changed. This is only the 2nd game I've watched all the way through, things changed for me once I heard the news on the sale. But I'm not fully invested and had planned on switching back and forth with the Ravens.
  23. I don't think an early exit in the playoffs would enhance the brand all that much. I and I would think most fans hate the name and how it's got Snyder written all over it. Love to see a rebrand. Then we can start the arguments all over again about the name.
